4 Chronology Brothers Juan and Pedro Alcaraz began their venture by renting vehicles from their first office in San Juan de Alicante with just 4 Ford Fiestas and a Ford Escort. The second Company office opens in Torrevieja (Alicante). The Company is officially established under the name of Europa Rent a Car Ltd The third Company office opens in Benidorm (Alicante). Valencia office opens. The Benidorm offices are moved to a better location. The first office in Alicante Airport is inaugurated. The Company begins a phase of growth and creates new departments which leads to the expansion of headquarters, based in San Juan de Alicante. A new office opens at Malaga Airport. Continuing the expansion process a new office opens at Murcia Airport Development continues with new offices opening at Almeria and Jerez airports. New ventures open in Reus (Tarragona) and Seville. New openings in Girona and Granada. The Company brand name changes to Goldcar. New headquarters open along with centres in Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canarias. Creation of the new, corporate image more modern and directed at the global implementation of Goldcar. Offices open in North Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura The offices at the airports of Barcelona, Bilbao, Ibiza, and Menorca are inaugurated and international expansion begins with the opening of Faro (Portugal). The expansion in Europe is consolidated with the opening of new offices in Portugal and Italy. Inauguration of 9 offices. Goldcar ranks as the number 1 hire car company in the Spanish holiday market. 8 new offices open. Entry into Malta, Andorra and Morocco. Goldcar achieves number 1 in the holiday car hire market in Portugal. Investindustrial acquire 80% of GOLDCAR. More than a dozen offices open reinforcing the presence of Goldcar in destinations such as Italy. Entry into Greece, France, Croatia and Netherlands. New franchise openings in Cancun (Mexico) and Corfu.
