2 CIVINET NETWORKS PROJECT CiViNET is a project granted by the EC (DG MOVE) to promote five local networks in seven different countries (UK & Ireland, France, Italy, Slovenia and Spain & Portugal). Leaded by the City of Burgos (Spain) the city is also the leader of the Spanish and Portuguese Network, Toulouse is the leader of French Network, Ljubljana (REC) in Slovenia, Lancashire County Council of the UK & Ireland and Genoa for the Italian Network. Other members involved are the consultancy companies TTR and EPC and the French Network for the Mobility GART. The main goal is to promote the local networks for sharing the best experiences at local level.

3 The key aims of the Network. What is the Network? A membership Network for public authorities and other organisations with an interest in sustainable mobility. What does it offer? Transfer of knowledge (CIVITAS); Comprehensive approach: a package of measures; Sharing of experience and best practice. Why join? Access to the forefront of industry know how; good practice advice, increased understanding and latest learning on various topics. More details: proyectos@burgosciudad21.org (Secretariat)

4 A short history of the Spain and Portugal Network The first launch of the Network was at the City of Burgos in January The Interim Management Committee was constituted with the Cities of San Sebastian, Figueres and Burgos. Next event included the formal launch of the Management Committee in March 2010 with the cities involved: San Sebastian, Vitoria, Palma de Mallorca, Bilbao, Torrent (Valencia), Madrid, Arenas de San Pedro (Avila), San Fernando de Henares (Madrid) and Figueres (Girona) in Spain, and Oporto, Funchal and Coimbra in Portugal. The City of Burgos is in charge of the Secretariat of the Network.

5 Legal Aspects of the Spain and Portugal Network (I) The network is free within the CiViNET Project period (From Dec 2009 until Nov 2012). There are Full-members for Cities, Municipalities, Provinces with a politician leading the membership. There are also Associated-members open to Universities, Transport Authorities, Research or Technological Centres, Private Companies involved with the sustainable transport. It is also free of charge for them, but they can t participate in some of the structures of the network.

7 Members (Full and Associated) Full members CiViTAS Spain and Portugal: San Sebastián, Figueres, Burgos, Bilbao, Vitoria, Oporto, Funchal, Coimbra, Arenas de San Pedro, Torrent, Palma de Mallorca, Madrid, Don Benito, Sevilla, San Fernando de Henares, Leon, Zamora Lisbon, Irún (Guipuzcoa), Getafe (Madrid) and Tenerife are currently in process of joining the network. Up to now Associated Members are the CRTM (Madrid), AMTU (Barcelona) and the Universities of Madrid and Burgos. Dissemination has been focusing to cities and not so much to privates.

8 Political Committe The political Committee will work as the PAC but in a lesser level. The Network will be in contact with the PAC for exchanging opinions and information. Two members are also member of the PAC (Funchal and Burgos) and one more soon (Oporto)

9 Calendar 2010 Two site visits: one to be organized in May-June and the second one in November-December. Possibility of organization of little meetings. CiViTAS Spain and Portugal Network Forum: To be organized in the third week of October (far from CIMO or CiViTAS Forum) in Burgos, with the First General Assembly Meeting and the first Political Committee Meeting. Website (the same as CiViTAS) to be concreted with VAN GUARD and Catalist.

10 Some propossed actions Barcelona: Public Transport, Real time passengers information. Burgos: Restricted access, soft measures (marketing, car pooling, plans for collective transport in industrial areas ) San Sebastian: Bicycle and vertical transport, Safety and Security. Vitoria: Reorganization of the public space (superblock models) and managing of the traffic, Sustainable delivery of goods. Coimbra: Alternative fuels for transport, use of renewable energies for PT Porto: Accessibility, Flexible services agency Funchal: Electric and hybrid vehicles, transport to school. Other cities: Madrid (PT), Malaga (restricted areas and sustainable distribution of goods), Sevilla (bike),lisbon (accessibility)
