1 Showcase USA Italy 2019 Bergamo, Italy March 3-5, 2019 Axis Travel Marketing attended the 22 nd edition of Showcase USA Italy, representing the Florida Keys and Key West. The event is an annual B2B marketplace organised by the U.S Commercial Service in Milan and the Visit USA Association Italy was a record edition with over 57 companies exhibiting and meeting new and existing clients. The market for Italian tourism to the United States continued its strong growth with 1,032,000 Italian arrivals in Final figures for 2018 are not available yet, but first quarter already reported an increase of 3.7% compared to same period of Projections are positive and the outlook foresees a continuous increase of Italian tourism to the US. Data from the U.S. Department of Commerce & National Travel Tourism Office show the top states most visited by Italians: New York takes the majority of arrivals with 47.51%, while California accounts for 29.22% and Florida for 23.74% of Italian arrivals. Nevada accounts for 11.42% of arrivals and Arizona rounds out the top states with 11.42% of all Italian arrivals to the U.S. Italy remains one of America s top suppliers of European tourists keeping the 4 th position as largest European market and 12 th worldwide for inbound travel to the U.S. Overall, according to the Bank of Italy, the county s GDP expanded by 1.5% in 2017 compared to GDP is expected to be stable in 2018 and The format of the Showcase was same as last year s edition, just with longer time for each meeting and extra time on Sunday. Axis had 54 pre-scheduled meetings and met with approximately 100 trade contacts between Tour Operators and Travel Agents and a handful of media appointments. Thanks to the past years in-market training and webinars the knowledge of the destination and product awareness has generally increased.
