1 Midsomer Norton & District Illuminated Carnival Monday 13th November from 7:30pm 2017 Registered Charity: Supported by: IlluminatedCarnival.co.uk
2 A Message From The Chairman Here we are again, it s that time of the year when the biggest illuminated carnival in the world comes to town. Over the past 12 months thousands of people have given their time freely and toiled sweat and tears in order to be a part of tonight s carnival, I would like to thank each and every one of them for their passion, determination, creativity and belief. If it was not for all the carnival clubs, walking entries and all the other entries that take in tonight s carnival, then we would not be having a carnival tonight. Please show your support for their efforts by applauding them. I would like to say a massive thank you to the Midsomer Norton & District Carnival Association for all the hard work that our small team has put in to run the show, and a BIG thank you to Midsomer Norton Town Council for there continued support. Of course, I would also like to say a big please, to all the members of the public, please support us and dig deep in to your pockets to make it a bumper collection this year so we can help good causes and help run the carnival next year. On one last note I would like to say have a great night and stay safe! Steve Cooper Chairman Midsomer Norton & District Carnival Association Reg Charity Page 3 IlluminatedCarnival.co.uk
3 A Message From The Town Mayor Carnival provides a wonderful opportunity for the whole community across the Somer Valley to come together. Whatever your age the glittering spectacle of Carnival has something for everyone and is an established part of the calendar. The event is also one of the largest charity fundraisers in the area raising thousands of pounds for local charities, community groups and good causes. So the impact of Carnival continues throughout the year. On behalf of the Town Council I hope you will come and enjoy Midsomer Norton Carnival this year and give generously towards the good causes and the future of Carnival. 7 Light Up Carnival Toys Make Your Purchase Count Ensure Your Money Goes To Charity In recent years there has been an explosion in the numbers of pedlars descending on Somerset towns during carnival season, some even sporting fake Official Seller uniforms, these traders have brought very little benefit for organising committees or clubs who voluntarily put in hours of work to put the show on the road. These pedlars seldom contribute anything towards the running costs of the festivities and Carnival organisers have serious concerns that the public mistakenly assume that they are supporting Carnival through their purchases from these traders, which is not the case. This year as part of a Carnival Consortium of 14 towns we will be selling our own light-up toys, all CE marked. Products offered for sale by the Official Carnival Sellers will include flashing wands, batons and windmills, whistles and many other items which children love at carnivals, prices will range from 2 and 4. Please only buy goods only from these recognised and authorised sellers, with all profits being ploughed back into Carnival.
