Our goals nclude, amongst other thngs, to encourage greater publc nvolvement n development ssues by keepng our members and the general publc nformed of Local Government actons. Over the years we have worked very closely wth the Coolum Beach communty and as such, we have ganed a very good nsght nto the mndset of the majorty of resdents n the area. Our area of focus s manly Coolum Beach and that has always automatcally ncluded the suburbs of Coolum Beach, namely, Pont Arkwrght, Yaroomba and Mount Coolum. These areas are made up of resdents who are very lke-mnded and many are nvolved n ther own communty groups of whch there are many. Whlst we respect that a new electorate needs to be formed and boundares need to be changed, n relaton to the new Electorate of Nnderry, we respectfully submt as follows: 1. We do not agree that the southern boundary of the proposed new electorate of Nnderry s approprate for the followng reasons: a. n the begnnng the area of Coolum Beach took n the now localtes of Pont Arkwrght, Yaroomba and Mount Coolum and the whole area was known as Coolum Beach. t seems localtes have been created over tme but these localtes e. Pont Arkwrght, Yaroomba and Mount Coolum are very much a part of, and suburbs of, Coolum Beach (same town, same postcode, same mndset, same communty). You can address a letter to a street n any of these

2 2 localtes wth the town as Coolum Beach and t wll arrve at ts destnaton. Addtonally, the localty of Yaroomba takes n the Palmer Coolum Resort and that has always been known as Coolum Beach. b. There have been many controversal development ssues that have been dealt wth by the entre communty of Coolum Beach (ncludng ts suburbs) and the majorty are all of the same mndset. Whlst these ssues have not related to the State they may well do so n the future. c. t would not be napproprate to dvde these communtes down the mddle. d. The southern boundary proposed s very odd ndeed. t zgzags through the hlls of Pont Arkwrght and dagnolly across streets and through the mddle of Pont Arkwrght t makes no sense at all and wll only serve to create confuson. e. Fnally, there wll be much more populaton growth n the Maroochydore electorate as t contans the Maroochydore CBD whch s set to grow substantally f the Mayor s plans come to fruton. 2. We therefore urge the Commsson to consder the followng optons: Opton 1 The southern boundary of Nnderry follow a more drect route and start at the Havana Road overpass over the Sunshne Motorway then along Suncoast Beach Drve and then along Tanah Street East to the ocean (see Opton 1 map below pnk outlned secton to be added to Nnderry). Nnderry would then be the green outlned secton and Maroochydore the yellow outlned secton. Opton 2 The southern boundary of Nnderry follow a more drect route along Petre Creek and then along the Motorway takng n the North Shore area and Twn Waters West and fnsh at the Maroochy Rver/Brdge. Nnderry would then also take n Mount Coolum, Marcoola, Pacfc Paradse, the North Shore and Twn Waters, wth Maroochydore ganng Rosemount, Dddllbah, Kels Mountan, Kunda Park, Forest Glen, Mons and Kulun (see Opton 2 map below green outlned secton to be Nnderry wth pnk secton to be Maroochydore).

3 3 Opton 3 f nether Optons 1 or 2 work, we ask that the Commsson consder any other opton that would ensure that the town of Coolum Beach and ts suburbs, namely, Pont Arkwrght, Yaroomba and Mount Coolum reman together. Yours sncerely Lynette Saxton, Presdent
