1 Volume 1 Issue 5 Greetings amazing Bulldog Families!!! School Performance Framework (SPF) Results Are In!!! We are proud to say that our middle schools topped the DPS SPF results again! DSST runs 4 of the top 8 middle schools in Denver! This could not happen without the hard work of our students, staff, and families. Our high schools also topped the DPS SPF results! DSST runs 6 of the top 8 traditional high schools in Denver! This continues our fourteen year track record of consistently running some of the best middle and high schools in Denver and could not happen without the hard work of our students, staff, and families. Major congratulations to our network schools. Even with these with results, we still have room to grow and improve our schools. We look forward to working alongside you to take our schools to the next level to ensure that 100% of our students experience a world class education in a strong close-knit community where every thrives. Parking Lot Safety: We still have several parents who are taking shortcuts through the parking lot during morning drop off and pick up. This is causing students to be dropped off in the parking lanes and several parents almost running into one another. To ensure everyone's safety, please make the complete loop around (no cutting through where cars are parked) and pull all they way up to the white line or directly after the car in front of you. This will ensure everyone's safety and is the most efficient way for everyone to enter and exit. Please see the parking diagram to the right for a visual representation of the expected traffic flow. We will place cones out for the next two weeks as a reminder. Once the cones are removed, please continue to follow the traffic flow path. If you are running short on time, we recommend that you drop your student off on one of the streets in front off or the side of the school and have your student walk in.

There will be no school on October 22nd and 23rd. Classes will resume as normal on October 24th. Picture Retake Picture retakes will take place next week October 25th at 8:00 am. Please be sure to send your student with the envelope provided and money if you wish to purchase pictures. If your student is retaking their pictures, make sure they bring in their previous order to exchange it. BULLDOG AWARDS Each week, students are nominated and recognized during morning meeting for exemplifying our core values and going the extra mile to reach their goals. Two of our nominees are selected to win one of two awards. Our Principal Paw Award recognizes a student who goes above and beyond to exhibit our core values while demonstrating leadership amongst their peers. Our Breakthrough Award recognizes a student who has shown growth by being courageous and resilient. Liliana Gonzales: Breakthrough Award Last week s winners were: This week s winners are: Ariah Velasquez: Principal s Paw Zimmariah Miller: Breakthrough Award Keryi Mata: Principal s Paw Cinema With The Council SGA will be hosting a movie night for students, parents and friends on Oct. 26th from 5:00 7:00 pm! We will be showing the movie, Monster House. Tickets for students are on presale afterschool for $1. Tickets for parents and friends will be sold at the door for $3 per person. Be sure to bring extra money if you d like, to purchase snacks at our concession stand. Snacks will include: popcorn, candy, soda, and chips. If you have any questions, please reach out to any student council member, Ms. Tindall or Mr. Clanton.

3 Winter Weather Policy As colder temperatures approach, we want to ensure that all students are safe and warm. Coats, gloves, and hats are strongly encouraged during colder days. Additional locker times are provided for retrieving winter attire during our lunch and recess period. When morning temperatures are below 30 degrees, students who arrive before 7:30am will be allowed into the building by a staff member. Clubs and Sports The fall sports season has come to a conclusion. Thank you to all the parents, staff, coaches, and players for your dedication to supporting the DSST Noel sports program. All of out studentathletes put forth their best effort and grew individually and as teams. We look forward to celebrating the fall sports season come May. Girls basketball is around the corner! Tryouts are October 24th and 26th from 4-6pm. All athletes are REQUIRED to attend both sessions. We will only have one team this year and will be accepting 12 girls to the team. Ms. Thornton will be coaching the girls this season. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend registration one of the days from 4-4:30. All athletes are required to complete a sports physical and transportation form. Please stop by the front office to get these forms. We look forward to an amazing season. STP (Science & Tech Parents) Our first STP meeting with parents was a success! We had a great outcome and interest from parents on wanting to create fundraisers, peer to peer groups, events for parents to get to know each other and so much more! If you were unable to make it to our meeting, there is still time to join our amazing parent group. Stay tuned to our newsletter for upcoming dates and times! Attendance Challenge Winner Our Bulldogs have been working hard to achieve perfect attendance this month. Each day, homerooms eagerly awaited their classmate's arrival to get one step closer to winning an ice cream social. While the competition was close, the boys of William Patterson and girls of Michigan State (Homeroom 2) put the cherry on top this week! We want to send a HUGE shout out to all of our homerooms who showed our core values of responsibility and doing your best by being at school each day. Girls Cheer leading is also coming soon. Ms. Tindall will be leading the lady bulldog cheer team. We will host open gym for all girls interested starting November 26th (4-5:30pm) & 28th (4:30-6pm) and December 3rd (4-5:30pm) and 5th (4:30-6pm). We will have more information as the season approaches. We are in the 3rd week of clubs. Students are learning chess openings, different Anime features, how to best support students in need of academic help, the art of Taekwondo, how to use different material to create artwork, different foods they would like to experience, and potential hikes to explore. Please support your students in completing their homework, so they can attend clubs on time instead of having to attend College Prep.
