1 Report Japan Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science by Japan by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) From 5 March to 11 March, 2017 Learn Environment Conservation from Nature and Disaster in Kagoshima By Fatimah Biology/ Andalas University
2 Japan-Asia Youth exchange program 1 st day (March, ) This day we arrived from Indonesia to kagoshima at 11 pm, and we met eizi Suzuki sensei and Aprilia senpai. Pct1. Arrived in Kagoshima After arrived in kagoshima we get on taxi together with aprilia senpai.
3 Pct 2. Got on taxi to kaikan The third kaikan is where we live for next one week with the other friend from ITB, IPB and Sabah University. Pct 3. Kaikan
4 We arrived to kaikan and met with the manager of kaikan so, she gave us key for the room and I got the chamber of 212. Sensei give us money to buy some food and stuff we need for today (Arigatou-gozaimasu sensei). In this second floor my neighbour is Aw and Azyan from Sabah, Claudia from IPB, and last Ivo and Buti same collage with me. We clean up the room and take a rest until welcome Party at in first kaikan. At we are gather in front of third kaikan and together we walk to first kaikan for welcome party. At the welcome party we met with the other student from Indonesia and Malaysia they are study in Kagoshima university and the other else get an exchange to Kagoshima University. There we met with Eizi Suzuki sensei, Haneda sensei, Aprilia senpai, Yora senpai, Novi, Nadia, Ziki, and the other else that day was good because they are so welcoming us and treat us better when the party start until the end of party. We felt comfortable at the welcome party, and we introduce ourself one by one to the other and we ate to the special food from Japan susi and onigiri, honestly it my first time to ate this food, its so yummy and tasty. I thought before it will not tasty because this food like susi is raw but its wrong, the taste its good, I hope we can get an opportunity to taste the susi again. pct 4. 5 pct 5. Intersection friendly with sensei and the other university student from Indonesia and Malaysia studied in Kagoshima University After the welcome party offer we going to Taiso market for bought some tools that can help us for one week and we bought to some foos for breakfast. After bough all the thing we need we back to kaikan to take a rest in Kaikan. Lovely first day in Japan ^_^ pct 6. Bought some stuff in Taiso Market
6 Second day (March, ) Today is the day that we got lecture from Sensei of Kagoshima University. Its so great, we gather in front of kaikan at am, we with Aprilia senpai walk to Kagoshima university it take 20 minutes from kaikan to Kagoshima University in Korimoto. Pct 7. We walk to Kagoshima University in Korimoto We arrived to Korimoto campus at am, the lecture for this morning is begin at am, we to earlier come to the campus but because we afraid to late for the first lecture we walk early morning to come and get the lecture. I am very impress with the sensei always come on time for the class. The first class we learn about How Life in Japan With Unedaya sensei. It was very great we learn about japan whis is language, food, culture and etc. honestly, before I never learn Japanese language beacause in my school I never got this lesson or course in my school I just learn Arabic and English, and its very cool to learn it directly with the sensei from Japanese and I learn it in japan. Im still remember to introduce myself Ohayou gozaimasu, Namaewa Fatimahdesu, Dozzo Yoroshiku Onegai-simas I will improve my Japanese language to study next in japan.
7 Pct 8. Learn Life in Japan with Unedaya Sensei Second lecture we got from Suzuki sensei but it just a while and continue at pm. At this time sensei give us a time to acces the computer in this building, I used this chance to find a jornal for my research, because in my collage we still pay for the journal, its to different in Kagoshima we can find the Journal and download it free, this journal is very useful. After it we gather in room three to Signatures some file and give our photo for the Document of Sakura Program, at this time to sensei explain about the program and the money we ve got for living one week. After sign we went to Main office to get some money and give it back again to sensei and we got the real money we need for one week. after it sensei show the Herbarium of Kagoshima, its not Big as we have in Herba Anda but the Herbarium in Anda so tidy and clean, we could scan the specimen to put in a Web, its different in our collage we just take a photo only without scanning. We can found the plant specimen from Japan and also from Indonesia. Herbarium in Second floor, at the first floor we got a chance come to meseum of fish, this museum has good structural for the fish, and they has analyze to keep it, and it still different to in my collage we has a zoological museum but it doesn t have an analyze to straighten up the museum.

10 We took a lunch in Canteen of Kagoshima University. In this canteen the food its not to expensive but it appropriate with the money we have as an university student. At this time I te white fish curry with medium rice, the food is yummy I like it. Pct 13. Take a lunch at canteen of Kagoshima university We so full and the food is tasty, we take a pray after took a lunch in classroom and begin the lecture at pm with Tomiyasu sensei we learn about Enviromental issues of mercury. Sensei explain because some rubbish from business was throw to the water and create metyl mercury, and this pollution was bad impact for society.the lecture end at and next lecture with Hoshino sensei Explain about How we management of conservation areas. In Kagoshoima theres three National park, first is Kirishima National park, Second Sakurajima and Kinko bay National park and last is Yakushima National park. Yakushima is one world heritage area and Amami Oshima to be candidate of World heritage area. Last at sensei Suzuki continue to explain about Vegetation in Kagoshima, sensei give us a lecture about the all vegetation in Kagoshima from temperate to subtropics in small island under the kagoshima city. Theres some Tropical plants and Warm temperate plants. Tropical plants such as : Mangrove, tree fern and palms and warm temperate plants such as : Quercus and Machillus.

12 At we end the lecture for today and back to Kaikan, Before we back home we took some picture in front of umme flower. At the time we met with ziki senpai she will back to kaikan, but we asking the way to go to Daiso to buy some stuff and Ziki senpai accompany us to 100 yen shop in Aeon afterbought some stuff we back to Kaikan and bought dinner in Hotto Motto take away to Kaikan and we ate it together in First Kaikan at first floor. After we dinner ziki senpai said there a second store behind the third kaikan not far from thr residence we go there to look around some stuff after that we back home and take a rest for tomorrow. Third day (March, ) Today as always we gather in front of Kaikan to walked together went to Korimoto campus, but today is different than before we walked to Korimoto campus without April senpai. Unfortunately, we lost most of us forget the road to the Campus, so we looked for the street by google maps. We helped by this apps and we arrived to the campus on time before sensei come. This is last lecture in class room with Masayu Maki sensei, we learn about Nature and Disaster of Mt. Sakurajima. It was great to know this Mountain is one of the incredible mountain in Japan. After class we took photo together with sensei. Last the lecturer we directly went to Sakurajima by bus with Suzuki sensei and arrived at dolphin port and ride in a ferry to Mt. Sakurajima. It takes 15 minutes went to Mt Sakurajima by ferry. Inside of ferry we can enjoy the Sakurajima scenery from far. The scenery was great. After 15 minutes we ride in bus to go around Sakurajima. First we went to meseum sakurajima there we can see the explosion of skaurajima and we can know detail about sakurajima, sensei explain to us about this mountain there and in this place we can find same item and gift. In this place take same reflextion of hot water from Sakurajima. Second place we went to Hakamgoshi and took a lunch in this place together. After take a lunch we bought something there the shop is beside the restaurant. In front of this place we can saw the biggest raddish and take some picture. At 1.30 we went to Yunohira sight view point, there we can see clear the mountain not to far from it. fourth place we went to Kurokami (Burried Tori) in this place we found a small kuil. Fifth place we went to Sabo station at this place we could brough home the ash from this mountain. The last place, we went to some place and honestly im not sure the name of this place because its written by Japanese language in this place we found the pine tree as pionir of this place and the other plant species we found camellia flower, the atsiri oil of this flower used to be hair oil.

18 The bus is stop in front of our Kaikan, before we have some plan Teaching Asisten April and Yora senpai, the plan is they accompany to go to Daiso, this is place you can buy something cheap but the quality is good. We look for some stuff and bought some gift for family and friend in Indonesia. At 9.00 we back to Kaikan and take a rest for tomorrow. Fourthday (March, 8 th 2017) Still Wonderful Japan, Today is the day we went To Minamata bay. At the morning as always we gather in front of kaikan and walk to find the bus. April senpai was accompany us to find the bus to go to Cueki station (The place, if I not wrong) at this place sensei and yora senpai was wait for us to ride in Sikansen went to Minamata bay. Its so gorgeus me and my friend from This program directly try shikansen, im so be grateful was have this opportunity. We wait the train depart at am, while waiting for the train we take this chance to see around the station. At this place theres much some gift sold, so we can choose if we wan to buy some. Before ride in the train we take some picture again to make some memories. The trip to minamata use sinkansen take 45 minute, its not to long time. Arrived at shin minamata station, we picked up by driver of Kagoshima and we went to National Institute for Minamata disease. This building was stood up at the sea hoarded by ground because the mercury. And this place still in rehabilitation and this place we can live here now. We got some lecture from Megumi yamamoto sensei about minamata disease. And some lucky frien like Zaky and Aw they are be apart of some trial of number mercury. From the hair we can know, how much mercury inside our body. Japanese people was the highest to for mercury inside the body because they are like to consume fish its different from other country like Indonesia and Malaysia. The higgest mercury was found in fish live in sea than fish live in freshwater. At am the materi was done and we went to take a lunch to restaurant Japanese ala Spanish. We took lunch there, and the menu its to much and make me so full., but we have to waste it don t throw the food. After lunch we went to Izumi city, at thi city we can found many crane, theres a buildind we can see all the crane its so much crane there, the name of this place is CranePark. And become one of the icon of this Place Crane. Japanese government give the crane some food everyday so as not destroy the farmer of this town, at the afternoon the children of this town count the crane to know the population of crane come to Izumi city. It was great idea for crane liv and keep it save for crane and benefit for society. At 15: 30 we done to enjoy scenery of many crane we visit old houses of Samurai. Its not to far from Cranepark take 20 minutes. House of Samurai was safe by the people of this town. Its so clean and traditional. The culture was safe by the people here. Same my lucky friend try to use kimono. And we got some photo with the grandma use Kimono there. Its so great. After visit the house of Samurai we take a rest in AZ hotel. We take dinner at pm with sensei, teaching assisten and all participant of Sakura program. After dinner we gather in Lobby hotel for share the moment and tell some culture in our place, like me from Padang the culture is Minangkabau and with the other from Java. It was awesome to now the culture from the other country like Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia. And from my country to theres much culture like Minang and Java. We take a rest at to prepare for tomorrow.

Old house Samurai In Izumi city Fifthday (March, 9 th 2017) All of us wake with the spirit morning, schedule for today Tsuruta dam, Sogi waterfall and Ebino plateu in Kirishima National park. At am we take breakfast and at we left the hotel to visit tsuruta dam. Tsurutas dam was buid to avoid the flood. The flood is the biggest problem in my country especially in Java islan every year flood come.and we get good lesson frm this palce (Tsuruta dam). The government was take a big responsibility to safe the society. In this place we got some lecturer from the people who was work in Tsuruta dam and got good explainer how this dam work. And we invited to enter the building. The building still get some renovation. At we done to visit Tsuruta dam and went to Sogi waterfall, the water of Sogi Waterfall flow to tsuruta dam. This is Beautiful waterfall. At this area we can find some restaurant and kuil to. At this time me and some participant try to throw the coin inside the box and ring the ball after this clap your hand two times. Theres to try some luck, she is Claudia paid for 300 yen and we can take a paper destination our life, after we read we can bring it hime or tie it in a tree. We take lunch in restaurant near of this place. After took lunch we went to ebino plateu in Kirishima National park, it take one hour from Sogi Waterfall, most of us fall asllep at the trip. When I woke up I saw the things the color is white, more higher the trip this things is much, and oh my god its SNOW, its our first time for all the participant to saw the snow, usually we can saw it in television show or movie, but now we can felt it by ourself. It was big pleasure for us. At this Kirishima National park we could found Animals such as deer, Rabbit, pig, but because its still snow we could not find it. We so enjoy the snow, we never know when we can meet snow again, so we enjoy it. After Kirishima we back home to Kaikan by Bus.

23 Pct 34. Ebino plateu Kirishima National park Sixth day (March, 10 th 2017) Today is our six day in Kagoshima, it felt so quickly day by day. Today we have a schedule Visit Sangenan Garden and Shoko Shuseikan. We gather in front of Kaikan at 9.00 am Sensei picked up us went to this place. First place we visit museum science at this place we try to felt earthquate at 5 S.r and tornado it was cool experience. Theres much thing we can learn and try it directly at this place. Second place we went to Senganen Garden, we found Cherry blossom and the other plant species like Bamboo, Bali orange, etc. this place so Beautiful because they have many beautiful flower, and we can enjoy it. After we enjoy and learn about Senganen garden we went to Kagoshima central station, and sensei leave us in this place we accompanied just with teaching assisten sensei give us a time to bought some gift for we brought to Indonesia. At pm we back to Korimoto campus to wrote some report to sensei until pm. The last schedule is Farewell party in restaurant of Korimoto campus. We met all of the board of JST program and we met to With Unedaya sensei, Tomiyasu sensei and Hoshino sensei at this party. We to tell our experience for one week in Kagoshima and last we take some picture together and gift some souvenir from our country to sensei. Arigatou gozaimasu

Farewell party Seventh day (March, 11 th 2017) Our last day in Japan especially in Kagoshima, its feel sorrow to leave this Beautiful and has many knowledge at this place, but we must left this place. At 7.30 am sensei come to picked up us went to airport, before we left Suzuki sensei take our photo in front of big cedar. We hope we can back again at the future to get knowledge at this place. We check in helped by Suzuki sensei and said Sayonara when we enter to waiting room. I was sad and some of us cried. Thank you somuch Suzuki sensei. At am our plan take off to Haneda airport.arrive in Haneda airport we directly take limousine bus to Narita airport it take one hour from Haneda airport. We take lunch and we walk arount this airport, we try Banana Tokyo cake it was one popular cake in Japan, the taste is good we check in and wait for the plan take off at pm. We arrived in Indonesia at am. Conclusion Seven day in Japan especially in Kagoshima we ve got much experience and knowledge we do not know before. Theres much place we can learn in Japan. Learn about the culture, language, knowledge and many more great thing we can learn here. Althougt it just seven day we have learn several thing from japan. Arigatou Gozaimasu JST program and Suzuki sensei.

Thanks to Teaching Assisten (Aprilia Lystea Oce Korisano and Yora Nindita senpai), who patient for us when we live at Kaikan. Thanks for Unedaya sensei, Tomiyasu sensei, Hoshino sensei, Masayu maki sensei and Suzuki sensei who give us lecturer at the class. Thanks for Indonesia student who studied in Japan and help us. My lecture in Andalas University Mr Erizal and Mr Rizaldi to choose me follow this exchange program. Big thanks to Japan-Asia Youth exchange was give us this big opportunity to learn Japan in Japan.
