2 Back to 2010 Lviv has defined hospitality and IT as major priorities in forming the Development Strategy of the city till Nowadays we are the leaders of these sectors in Ukraine. Over the last years the tourism industry has created more than 10 thousands of new workplaces. The previous year we hosted nearly 2 million visitors. IT market is increasing annually by 20-25%. One might be skeptical, but, for instance, in Austria tourism makes 10% of GDP. It is the profitable branch of economics that still has to be developed by applying the experience of our partner cities from other countries, including Poland. However, the progress of tourism is impossible without high-quality air service and high-speed railway connection. These are the things that bring people together, make us closer to each other while destroying stereotypes and providing qualitatively new knowledge. Lviv is being discovered by the world now just as Krakow and Prague a hundred years ago were. Our motto is «Lviv open to the world», and I will add: «And welcoming to the guests». Danylo Halytskyi International airport Lviv is traditionally considered as a biggest hub airport in West Ukraine with the catchment area population of 9 mln. and is the closest to European Union boarder (70 km. from Poland). Ukrainians is a significant potential for the airport as visiting friends & relatives (VFR) segment. After its reconstruction in 2012, Danylo Halytskyi International airport Lviv has become as an upgraded modern airport with terminal capacity for handling up to 2000 passengers per hour and with a brand new runaway of meters to be able to handle the long haul flights to USA and Canada. While having here in Lviv region a great development of tourism, including medical opportunities, historical and cultural places to visit airport management team is now focusing on implementing incentive programs for new routes development by attracting inbound tourism.
