Taking the Wrong food/too Much Food Yes, sugar is good for the trail, but not excessive. Water logged food is NOT recommended for multiple day backpacking trips 3. Carrying too much stuff Roughly 20-25% of boys body Weight No Books, Magazines, Jumbo anything 4. Pack Does Not Fit Consider the size of the scout. An 11 year old scouts and a 17 year old scouts are built differently.
