2 The 2018 Sagamore Council Winter Klondike will be held at Franklin L. Cary Camp 6286 IN-26, Lafayette, IN Webelos are invited to visit this event on Saturday! Encourage the Webelos who are ready to cross over to visit and participate in this event. A sled will be available for Webelos Patrols 2
3 Camping Information: We are camping in the modern campground. This is a tent camping event. There are no cabins or other buildings available. As such, the Boys (and adults) need to dress appropriate for cold weather campouts. Latrines and the dining hall restrooms are available for use. The pool house will be closed. Water will be available at the dining hall, it will not be delivered to the camp sites. The only fire-starting materials that will be provided is the fire ring/pit. You will need to bring all other materials for starting a fire. Winter Camp Checklist Personal Camping Gear Checklist Scout Equipment Official Boy Scout Field Uniform Class B Scouting shirts Boy Scout Handbook (in a plastic, zip lock bag) Water bottle or canteen Flashlight with extra batteries Bedding Cold weather sleeping bag Old blanket - to put under sleeping bag as an insulating pad (optional) Old blanket - to put over sleeping bag for extra insulation (optional) Pillow (optional) Ground pad / cot Waterproof stuff bag for sleeping bag Clothing Consult your Boy Scout Handbook about proper layering. 3
4 The key to cold weather camping is to stay warm and dry. Bring both light and heavy weight clothing in order to "layer" if the weather is cold. For underwear and socks, bring at least one change per day. Underwear / Socks - A pair of dry light weight socks next to your feet will pull the moisture away and keep your feet warmer. Socks - heavy (wool is best - they will be warmer, even if wet) T-shirts Long, thermal underwear - at least one pair Hooded sweat shirt and sweat pants (make the best pajamas in cold weather) Long pants Long sleeve shirt Warm sweater Warm coat or jacket - suitable for winter camping environment Stocking cap / Face mask. Gloves or mittens plus an extra pair. Winter boots, NO Tennis shoes Please. Extra Pair of footwear Rain gear Towels 4
5 EVENTS INFORMATION: Patrols are to be no more than 8 Scouts per Patrol. Sled Race Troops will provide their own sleds. NO WHEELS ON THE SLEDS. 4 Man Ski Skis will Be provided First Aid Event Stretcher will be provided BB Gun Challenge Archery Challenge Log Toss Snow Ball Toss Fire Building Fire Ring will be provided All other fire building materials must be provided by the patrols Sagamore Scavenger Hunt- All Day Event There will be a scavenger hunt starting after flags on Saturday morning and must be turned in before dinner. There will be 15 items needed to complete the hunt. If more than one Troop completes the Scavenger Hunt, points will be rewarded based on the fastest completed times. The Scavenger List will be given at the start time. 5

8 Sagamore Council Winter Klondike 2018 Schedule of Events: Friday 6pm- 9pm check in (WE MUST HAVE THE TEAM NAMES OF THE TROOP OR PATROLS) in the dining hall 6pm 9:30pm camp set-up 9:45pm- 10:30pm SPL & Scoutmaster meeting and participants must come up for bb gun and archery safety Saturday Breakfast in camp Webelos Check0In (If necessary) 7am-8:30am 9am-9:15am Flags in front of the dining hall 9:30am-11:30am Events 30 min for each leaves 5 min before each event 11:30am- 1:30pm Lunch in camp 1:30 pm- 3:45pm Events 5pm- 6:30pm Dinner and awards in the dining hall 6:30-7pm Order of the Arrow Elections (optional) 8-10pm Movie and Fellowship in the dining hall. Popcorn will be provided. The movie that will be played; Hook (optional) Sunday 7am-10pm Cleanup and Checkout 8
9 Saturday Dinner will be provided in place of Saturday night Cracker Barrel. This will allow any troop who wishes to checkout Saturday night, time to do so. *Please put on Campmaster any special needs for food. The menu is planned as chili, grilled cheese and baked potatoes. Vegetarian chili can be made IF requested. 9
