2 WELCOME Children are inherently curious and naturally risk takers. We design our camps for kids to explore, discover, and challenge themselves. By giving your child the opportunity to go to camp, you re providing memories that last a lifetime. BELONGING We re here to make kids feel welcome. This is a place where they belong and can be themselves, try new things, make new friends, and be a part of something great. ACCOMPLISHMENT We re here to surround your kids with opportunities to try new experiences, and show them all they can do when they believe in themselves. 3 CAMP INFORMATION Safety, Standards and Staff We re committed to providing the safest, most positive summer experience for our campers. As active members of the American Camp Association (ACA) and the NJ YMCA Day Camp Network, we re involved in camping throughout the year to ensure that each of our unique camps is at its best. American Camp Association Accreditation (ACA) The American Camp Association is a leading authority in youth development and works to preserve, promote, and improve the quality of camp programs. In partnership with ACA, we re dedicated to providing: Caring, competent adult role models Safe, nurturing environments Healthy, developmentally appropriate experiences Opportunities for leadership and personal growth Excellence and continuous self-improvement Our camps are licensed by the NJ State Department of Health and Safety. Facilities, program equipment, staff credentials and training meet the highest standards. Fulltime professional staff and experienced program directors make up our team. Our directors have over 100 years of combined camp experience! Summer staff are carefully screened and selected for their love of children and the enthusiasm they bring to our community. An extensive interview is followed by a background check and 30 hours of pre-camp intensive staff training. Trainings focus on safety, counseling techniques, conflict resolution and values along with camp policies and procedures. Financial Assistance Every child deserves a camp experience. Through our ANNUAL CAMPAIGN, we raise money for camp scholarships. Each summer, over 100 children experience camp because of your generosity. For information and to apply visit: metroymcas.org/main/financial-assistance/ Before and After Camp Care Available for most camps for an additional fee. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited! Before Care starts at 7:00am and After Care ends at 7:00pm. This optional program is at your child s campsite unless noted. Healthy snacks, organized games, enrichment activities and more are part of After Care. A $10 fee is charged for all am and pm camp care changes. HOW TO REGISTER 1) Visit our website and download the 2019 Registration form. 2) Complete and return the registration form. A valid branch membership from the Metro YMCA of the Oranges and a $50 deposit per week are required for all campers. The balance is due May 18, Payment plans are available. Self-confidence, teamwork, good sportsmanship and discipline flourish in our fun, relaxed atmosphere. Mornings start with hands on technical instruction and realistic game play. All Sorts of Sports is a whole lot of morning fun where campers will learn and build the fundamentals and skills of sports like basketball, football, soccer and volleyball. Through sports games and activities, campers will gain self-confidence, enhance motor skills and build friendships. GYMNASTICS SUMMER CLINIC GO FOR THE GOLD! Our Gymnastics Clinic is designed to challenge gymnasts while learning the proper progressions on floor exercise, balance beam, uneven bars and vault. Gymnastics skills develop strength, flexibility, coordination and selfconfidence. Our instructors are charged with ensuring each participant has a positive and motivating experience with gymnastics and physical fitness. Our progressive program provides leadership training, team building and skill development. Shadow a senior counselor in YKNOTS (pre-school aged), SOMAPY (school-aged) or CREATIVE THEATER (school-aged) SUMMER DISCOVERY (schoolaged). CIT s prepare, organize and assist with camp activities.
