First, there is the opportunity to put more pictures of your car in the newsletter than anyone else s! You can even put your car on the cover, claiming that all the other pictures were blurry! Next is the opportunity to take numerous pictures at all club events, and then laugh at how funny your fellow club members look in them! This provides countless hours of entertainment, especially in the winter months. Finally, this position allows the editor to share her witty thoughts and scintillating ideas with the unsuspecting readers on a monthly basis. Where else can a person find such opportunism I mean, opportunity? If you d like to share in this great opportunity, call or now! It s fun and easy!! Kim Dougherty new kdocmgcars@cableone.net

Message from the President: Ho, Ho, Ho...now's the time for all good boys & girls to start dropping those Christmas hints! Marked copies of the Moss catalog laying about, the latest issue of Little British Car Company s E catalog with items circled (who doesn t need a tree ornament in the shape of the MG Factory in Abingdon?)...you know, subtle hints! Here s hoping you have all been good this year and Santa brings you all your parts. The Summer Tour is beginning to take shape. It would seem from comments & postings on the web site, that although we loved our two year stay at Tamarack, the Club membership is leaning to a less formal, more drive-oriented tour. The Wallowa Mountain towns of Enterprise & Joseph have been mentioned quite often, and it is there that we will center our tour for I ve already had a few offers of help in organizing the tour, I m inviting anyone who knows the area to step up and help plan our activities. From what I have gleaned so far, there are train rides, tram rides into the Blue Mountains, numerous vineyards in the vicinity...a virtual plethora of activities to keep us occupied. Should be a fun time for all! Special Offer! Rod Nichols is coordinating these license plate frames, offered to us by Universal Brass Inc in WA. The price is $20 per frame, two frames for $40. Rod has already placed an initial order, but since he s met with such enthusiasm, may consider ordering more. Rod reminds everyone there s no need to stop buying once you have a frame for your Little British Car you can put one on each of your cars to help advertise and promote the club. (Although I understand we charge extra for Porsches!) The frames are available in black or satin, made of weight-saving "Aluminium"! (Aluminum to us Yanks.) Also available are a Union Jack 'valet style' key fob, and Union Jack valve stem caps. Contact Rod or sign up at coffee! A Tribute to Bob Muenchausen Way back in 1992, Bob Muenchausen had a grand idea, form a club of like minded MG owners throughout the Treasure Valley. From that germ of an idea 15 years ago, we have grown into the Idaho British Car Club, an organization of over 150 members. Sadly, Bob will be leaving the Treasure Valley soon, headed for the green fields of Oregon. In recognition of all he has done for both the IBCC & for the MG community as a whole it was decided by a unanimous vote to declare Bob a member for life...the 1st IBCC Charter member. God speed & good luck in Oregon, Bob the IBCC will miss you. 3

IBCC Holiday Party December 8th The IBCC Holiday Party will be at the Maple Grove Grange Hall on Dec 8th from 6:00-10:00 p.m. The party will include a buffet dinner (with the club providing the meat and everyone bringing a dish) and a gift exchange. Cost is $10.00 apiece, payable at the door. Our planning committee is Terry Thompson, Maria Bronson, Bob & Carolyn Berry, and Nancy & Lee Otterness. Please RSVP to Carolyn NLT 5 Dec she will coordinate who s bringing which dishes. We will have a Chinese gift exchange, otherwise known as combat giving. Gifts should be in the $10-$20 range; bringing a gift from each person in your party will allow you each to receive one. Women who are tired of receiving caroriented gifts may want to bring more female-oriented gifts to fight over. Volunteers needed for: Setup & Decorating: 9-10:30 am Cleanup: p.m. Cooking: lb. roast beef & lb. ham. To volunteer, contact Terry at , ttt@merrittbros.com, or Maria at , scbronson5@msn.com. RSVP to Carolyn at , berobertt1162@q.com See page one for directions to the Grange. Changes to IBCC ByLaws & Donation Proposal The IBCC Board Members met on November 15th to review events of 2007 and begin planning for The Treasurer reported that we are very healthy, with over $5000 in the coffers. A motion was made & seconded at the November 17th coffee to make a $1000 donation to the Warhawk Museum in appreciation of the positive role they have played in the growth of the Club. In order to streamline the yearly armtwisting that accompanies picking new members to run for the Board, a proposal was put forward to combine certain positions, leaving us with fewer positions to fill. If approved, Vice-President & Events Chair will be combined, along with the Membership & Secretary positions A vote on these proposals will be held at the Coffee on January 5th. IBCC at the Front Door Fourteen club members turned out on a cold November evening for some tasty beverages and great pizza. One of the highlights was the chance to taste Old Speckled Hen, an ale named after Dick and Karen Dennis the very first MG! Thanks to the Front Door for a fun night. Enjoying Pub Night 4

Guy Fawke s Party Explodes with Fun The IBCC remembered the 5th of November once again this year at the home of Bryan & Montse Connington. Rumors have it that club members once again partied around a bonfire and enjoyed great food and drink. There have been no confirmed reports of fireworks or unusual explosions at the Conningtons, but we all know what usually happens when we celebrate Guy Fawke s day! Thanks, Bryan and Montse! Armistice Day Party a Success Bob & Carolyn Berry hosted their second annual Veteran s Day celebration on November 11th. The event was very well attended, and reports are that Bob & Carolyn outdid themselves with excellent food and beverages. Unfortunately, my husband & I were in our 26th hour of travel back from Italy at the time of the party, so we were unable to attend. Sorry, folks, but that means no pictures (was it THAT kind of a party?). Thanks to Bob & Carolyn for another successful event! Still standing! South of the Snake Sid Bronson picked a great day in late autumn to lead a group of IBCC members on a drive across the Snake River to an Idaho landmark, The Blue Canoe. Club president Bob Dougherty said, Sid found some great driving roads that I didn t even know existed! Famous for it s crawfish dinners, The Blue Canoe provided an excellent lunch and a great late season destination. Thanks, Sid, for planning this informal drive! Several British cars (with one Ford!) crossing the Snake River Plain (left and top) Maybe I ll get the crawfish all this driving made me hungry! 5

The Ales of the United Kingdom Give my people plenty of beer, good beer & cheap beer, and you will have no revolution among them. Queen Victoria Abby Ales The Abby Brewery Camden Row Bath Twelfth Night Ale Founded in 1997, Abbey Ales is the first and only brewery in the historic City of Bath for over forty years. Although a relative newcomer, since inception in 1997, Abby Ales flagship ale, Bellringer is now the top selling cask bitter in the World Heritage City of Bath and is as popular with the many visitors to the Georgian City as it is with Bathonians. Quality ingredients are the key to any successful product and the Abby Brewery is fortunate that, just a short drive away, 1st quality malts are available from Warminster Maltings. Here they specialise in producing high quality barley malts in the traditional way, where, after forty hours of steeping, the grains are spread across vast open floors and left to germinate over four to six days. During germination, the carbohydrates within the the barley undergo a modification which makes it suitable for brewing. This process is completed by kilning with hot air to reduce moisture content and impart the typical malt colour and flavour. The other essential raw ingredient is of course hops. Abby Ales hops come from Worcester, one of the main English hop growing areas, the other being Kent. Hops give beer its characteristic bitterness, flavour and aroma. Only the finest Challenger, Goldings & Fuggles hops are used in Abby Ales. In addition to our quality malts & hops we preheat our local water overnight and add mineral salts to achieve the right balance for bitter brewing - the process known as burtonising. Twelfth Night Ale is a very special Christmas winter warmer, ruby in colour & full of malt flavours. An ideal winter brew, perfect for drinking whilst sitting around a real log fire in your local, merrily eating hot chestnuts! Source: 6
