2 October 2014 President s Message Happy Halloween! Hope you survived the 2014 festivities. Here is information to the membership as cell phone numbers are going public again. To stop the telemarketers calling your cell phone contact the National Do Not Call List at Use your cell phone for this call. Did you see the September 15th Old Car Column? This is Bruce Kunz s column in the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Monday, Jerry Wilson's 1972 Hurst Oldsmobile was the feature car for this column. It was perfect timing as our annual All Oldsmobile Fun Show was upcoming and a chance that Bruce could promote our Fun Show but this event was not listed in Bruce's columns. It was good to see Jerry's rare 1972 Hurst car featured and that is what counts. Way to go Jerry! Our annual Archway Club picnic went very well last October 12th. It was a little cool but it was not raining so all hopefully had a good time. I thank Gerry and Ed for bringing coffee that morning. I like to thank all those who brought a side dish or desert as there was plenty of food. Thank you goes to our host for this event Kevin and Mike as the Bar-B-Q was delicious. Hope you had a good time. Several members attended the Gateway Buick/GMC Car Show Saturday October 18th. It was a perfect day to enjoy a late car show. I was approached by the Gateway folks and they wish to have a few car shows next season. Doc Albers has put time in on 2015 Club T-shirts for next year. It has been decided to have a pocket T-shirt that is ash color with red colored Archway Club logo on the front and back of the T-shirt. Did I mention with a pocket at a reasonable cost. There was a sheet passed around at the last meeting and we are over 40 shirts on the first request. Doc is taking names and sizes still as we will order in a couple of months so there is still time to contact Doc to order your club T-shirts for next season. I believe we will order a few extra. Let Doc know if interested Archway Club Officers nominations and approvals will be included at the next club monthly meeting. Please plan to attend for your nomination of 2015 Archway Club Officers to be elected or remain as an officer for another year. Don Oehlert and John Palmberger have a system for membership renewal for 2015 upcoming. If you receive a membership application in your upcoming newsletter mailed to you then you need to pay your club dues for NOTE: Mail in your registration sheet filled out completely and MAIL into our post office box before January. Do Not give your annual registration to Don at the meeting as he will be enjoying his dinner so the bank is closed while he is enjoying his dinner at the meeting. Mail in your registration please. Kevin Beutelmann has located a new place for our 2014 annual Christmas Brunch. Sunday December 14th at 10:30 AM we will be meeting at Hwy 61 Roadhouse in Webster Groves at 34 South Old Orchard, Kevin will include more information, a registration sheet and a map in this newsletter. Please sign up before December so we can have an accurate count of who is attending. As in years past the member is paid for by the club and your partner will need to pay for their brunch. Kevin worked hard to find a new location for all to enjoy. Just a note there are one flight of stairs to contend with between the hot steam tables of food and our seating area. There will be runners for those who have problems with seven steps. I have tried this brunch and it is a very good buffet of numerous assortments. The good news is that Kevin has come through for us with Made to Order Omelets, pancakes and eggs Rockefeller. What the heck is Eggs Rockefeller? Guess I will find out. Hope to see you soon Gene 2
