Members FREE, guests $8 per person. A map is enclosed with this newsletter. Every year we look forward to getting together to celebrate spring and Fiesta San Antonio with live music from our members. It is time to sing, dance, play music and of course, have fun with friends. All of this comes with great food too! We want everyone to participate, so get ready and make your reservations with us. Our Telephone Committee will be calling members to verify attendance and make plans for food. Andy Niland is cooking the hotdogs for us, so he deserves lots of praise for his volunteer spirit. This year we will have hot dogs with the trimmings and beverages provided by the club. Caption describing picture or graphic. Members should bring a side dish or dessert. Think light and cool for your food selections and bring desserts that are easy to serve and pickup. YES WE NEED VOL- UNTEERS FOR SETUP AT 1 PM. These folks spend a lot of time on the phone connecting with our members to make sure YOU are at the top of our list in the latest news from our club. We especially want YOU at our party. Mario Pedone: Computer and Accordion Workshop scheduled for Saturday May 19th from 10 AM 2 PM Mario Pedone will be in San Antonio on May 19th from 10 AM-2 PM at Laura Niland s home to present a special workshop on the usage of computer software to create and print accordion music. His workshop will emphasize the ease of creating arrangements and focus on hands on learning that is especially enhanced by our small group setting. In addition, Mario will demonstrate how the accordion can be linked with the computer and create virtual sheet music that can be edited, then additional parts can be layered with background instrumentation that can eventually be recorded on CD. Learn to create your own CDs. Mario demonstrated some of this tech- (Continued on page 3)

We had about 45 people attending, which is a great crowd. Thanks for your support! Mario has agreed to present a workshop May 19th from 10 AM 2 PM on the usage of computer software to create and print music. He will demonstrate how to use the software and also how to link your accordion to the computer and create virtual music online. Read more about his workshop in this newsletter and make your reservations early as enrollment is limited L. Niland to 15 participants and costs $40 per person which includes lunch. Officers Reports Maggie Bowker reports that are membership is currently at 46. We often have new members join or renew in May. Marty Sealy and Laura Niland visited Grady s to look at the size of the party room located at 281 and Nakoma. We decided it was too small to meet our needs, so we rented the Olympia Party Room for our SAAA Fiesta Party. The party room is completely renovated with new paint, carpet, tile and kitchen update. Andy Niland is cooking the hotdogs for us so thanks to Andy for his extra work. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO COME SET- UP THE PARTY ROOM. Call Laura at if you will come and help at 1 PM at the Olympia Party Room. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Coppini Art Festival May 20th from 2-6 PM in SA Come to the Coppini Art Festival in San Antonio from 2-6 PM. SAAA accordionists, Laura Niland, Beverly Garcia, Hugette Paige, Sharon Setera, and Edith Kneupper will be providing musical entertainment. You can read more about the historic Coppini Academy of Fine Arts on their website The Institute is located at 115 Melrose Place just north of Hildebrand Avenue off of McCullough. The yearly art festival features some of the finest artists in South Texas. You can browse the gardens and view beautiful paintings, sculpture and mixed media. The Garden Exhibition is casual and beautiful. Spend some time with us at the 2012 Coppini Garden Exhibition on May 20th from 2 6 PM. The June 12th concert will be held at the Senior Activity Center, 2874 Shoal Crest Avenue (just off Lamar Street) from 7-10 PM. Call Joe Klaus at for more about this concert and performers. This has been a yearly event for the Austin accordion group and is always an enjoyable event. Come an enjoy an evening of great accordion entertainment in a casual and organized format. This concert is FREE to the public, but come EARLY if you want a parking spot and there are plenty of folks who line up for the best seats. Many thanks go to the Austin folks for all their work in preparing for this wonderful event which is the highlight of the year for CTAA. You will see lots of great accordionists there. BRING A SERVING UTENSIL AND LABEL IT! 2) Bring your accordion or other instruments Practice so you are ready to play. We need ALL accordionists to play at our party so gear up! Limit the number of amps please! 3) Bring a camera for great photos. 4) Sign up for Mario Pedone s Accordion Workshop on May 19th at our party. $40 per person gets you registered. (There is a large stone with an oakleaf at the entrance). At EACH stop sign, make a left. Hickory Bend to Cedar Branch, left on Cedar Branch travel to stop sign and make left on Gardenia Bend travel to stop sign and make a left on Paradise Pass travel to Berean Way and make a left.
