1 MAY/ 2018 The Tennessee State Club of Winnebago International Travelers INSIDE THIS ISSUE PRESIDENT S MESSAGE With summer approaching travel plans and new adventures are beginning. The April campout at Nashville I-24 RV Park in Smyrna, TN was enjoyed by thirty-one attendees. Looking forward, there are several chapter outings scheduled in various locations in TN and vicinity. Then the GNR is right around the corner in July. The week preceding the GNR Forest City has a week long series of activities for our enjoyment. The Pucker Brush Day Parade is always a popular event. There will not be a Parade of States at the GNR Opening Ceremony, however the State Row Parties are always an experience not to be missed. As noted in the Minutes in this newsletter, Dave Franke has an outstanding TN Row Display planned. Thanks to the several members who quickly volunteered to assist Dave in some of his current needs. Attendees at the GNR always become involved in assisting with the assembly of the decorations and handing out the food and drink. Hopefully we will be able to schedule a get together of all Tennessee people with Winnebago and grandfathered brands authorized to join WIT. This year Winnebago has authorized non- WIT members to attend the GNR, thus there is a good potential of increasing and local chapter members. For those who are planning to help the s in celebrating their 44th Anniversary as a chapter on Aug , 2018 at Salt Lick Creek Campground, near Carthage, TN, you need to make your reservations now. All chapters and the state have decided to join them in this campout. Ed Potts and Mike Logan have agreed to serve as the Nominating Committee for the 2018/19 (Oct to Oct) one year term officers. Since October 2019 is our normal year for the TN State Rally and the President normally becomes the Rally Host, we have considered a hybrid suggestion. That is to separate the Rally Master who could be appointed to coordinate all of the rally activities to significantly reduce the tasks of the President during the rally year. There is a benefit of having some of the pre-planning started before the preceding October officer elections. Thus it is suggested that if you would like to be nominated for President of and be the Rally Master as has been done in the past, this is great. But, if you would prefer to be President of and have a separate Rally Master to coordinate the rally activities, please be willing to volunteer for the President with this stipulation. There are other states that have a separate Rally Master other than the President. It is not unique, but does assist in distributing the work load. ( Cont. 2 MINUTES OF MEETING AT SMYRNA, TN NASHVILLE I-24 RV PARK APRIL The meeting was called to order by President Ralph Wiggers at 9 am. Officers present were: Ralph Wiggers President, Glenn Craig Vice President, Virginia Wiggers Secretary and Joe Moore Treasurer. Members present were: Larry & Jane Bolding, Glenn & Irene Craig, Ken & Jeannette Dixon, Joseph & Irene Dyer, Dave & Gail Franke, Bob Graf & Bobbie Baird, Dan & Aggie King, Cliff & Kay Kline, Mike & Diana Logan, Dave & Lynda McKitrick, Joe & Cathy Moore, Ed & Kathy Pate, Ed Potts, Robert & Veronica Ralston, and Ralph & Virginia Wiggers. New members at the rally Jim & Rose Paschal, Joe & Irene Dyer and Bob Graf and Bobbie Baird were welcomed. All are members of Chapter. Aggie King has volunteered to be the Sunshine Person to replace Yvonne Potts, who passed away. Aggie asked that people let her know of those needing cards. The October 2017 minutes were posted and had been printed in the March 2018 Newsletter. President Wiggers asked if there were any corrections. There were none. Ed Potts moved that they be accepted as published. Dave Franke seconded and the motion passed. Joe Moore gave the Financial Report with $7, in checking as of March 31, Ed Potts moved to accept the report and Larry Bolding seconded. The motion passed. Aggie Kind performed an audit on the Treasurers books and found no discrepancies. Joe also reported that the Fall Rally netted $ He has also filed the required IRS forms. Our rally fee of $10/person should be paid to him today. CHAPTER REPORTS Brent was not able to attend, but asked that a reminder be given to make reservations at Salt Lick Creek for the August outing as soon as possible. Sites there go quickly. Larry Bolding said they have gained 5 new member rigs: Allan & Barbara Wells, Greg & Karen Shipman, Joe & Irene Dyer, Jim & Rose Paschal and Bob Graf & Bobbie Baird. They have outings planned at Branson, GNR and Salt Lick Creek. RTT Ed Potts reported 2 new member rigs: Ted & Mary McDermott and John & Theresa Neff. The chapter has 16 active coaches. May they will be Huntsville, AL; June at Two Rivers Landing in Sevierville; and July at GNR. OLD BUSINESS There are no planned pre-gnr activities. There was consensus of possibly having a sub or pizza luncheon with all members of TN units during the latter part of the GNR and to let the members attending GNR decide at GNR. Dave Franke reported on plans for Row Decorations. He asked for help in finding pictures of past and present Winnebago models. Veronica has some of the correct size and he needs others. He needs a banner with the flying W and saying 60 years of sharing the RV lifestyle. The banner needs to be an oilcloth type material to withstand the weather. Glenn Craig reported that he and Irene would have all of the supplies for Lynchburg Lemonade at GNR. We will need to have helpers to give out lemonade and treats. Virginia Wiggers suggested making a mixture of M & M s, peanuts, goldfish, and other small snack items and put in 3 oz. cups to give out at GNR. Ralph Wiggers mentioned that the board decided to use the old banner and make a new frame for 2 it. The Davy Crockett on this banner is better than the previous banner. A new frame has been made with

3 The 3 Chapter banners on a separate frame below the banner. These were on display at the outing. Ralph also discussed the By-Laws changes and the reasons for those changes. The amendment to the By-Laws changes the officers terms from 2 years to 1 year. Ed Potts moved to accept the amendment and Cliff Kline seconded. The motion passed. These changes will be sent to Winnebago for approval and then will become the new By-Laws once approved. A nominating committee of Ed Potts and Mike Logan was appointed and there was a short discussion on officer duties and various ideas for handling the State Rally. Ralph asked for ideas for a Theme for the October 2019 State Rally. Ideas given were something Patriotic or something pertaining to Music City. Mike Logan asked if we had reserved dates for the October 2019 rally and Ralph said that we have. NEW BUSINESS A review of obtaining a storage facility for property was made by the Executive committee and Dave McKitrick. After analysis it was recommended that this should not be pursued at this time. Ralph requested if any members were interested in conducting a Show and Tell at dealers to let him know. WIT has announced that the club/chapter of excellence program has been suspended for analysis and discussion of new recognition ideas. Dan King made a motion to adjourn. It was seconded and passed. Respectfully submitted, Virginia Wiggers Secretary 3

There were 6 units there to enjoy the weather which went from freezing to warm and sunny. They enjoyed dinner at Pioneer Diner and games were a big hit. We also enjoyed a good potluck with Mark grilling chicken. After the outing several coaches headed to Smyrna to attend the outing at I-24 Campground. 4

5 REPORT OF OUTING IN SMYRNA,TN We welcomed 16 rigs to the I-24 RV Park in Smyrna, TN on April 19 to 22. Several arrived early and we went our to eat at Hickory Falls Woodfired Grill on the evening of the 18th with 21 people already present. On the 19th we had our opening and welcome at the pavilion followed by a potluck. Several came back after the potluck for games. Per usual, the food at the potluck was wonderful. Friday the 20th we started with coffee, bagels, toast and fruit at the pavilion. At 9 am we carpooled to Stones River National Battlefield. We watched a video of the battle and area and then took a car tour of the battlefield. After the tour several met at Demo s Restaurant in Murfreesboro for lunch. Some stopped at the Sam Davis home in Smyrna also. The office at the campground had a food truck coming before the music that evening for those who wanted to have their meal there. We were invited to see their menu and purchase from them. Music was furnished at the pavilion for all campers by the Matt s Family Jam. What a wonderful talented family and good music. Several were up dancing to the music. We were amazed at the different instruments that all could play and the good voices that blended well. The sound was just right for our listening. On Saturday we again met at the pavilion for coffee, bagels, toast and fruit. At 9 am we had our business meeting followed by chapter meetings. The day was free then for people to visit several things in the area. Several went to Bell Buckle, TN to see the town and visit the shops. At least one couple went to Wartrace to visit the Walking Horse Museum. At 5 pm we had Barbecue brought in from Kinfolks Barbecue, a local barbecue restaurant. It was excellent and we had their potat0 salad, applesauce and cake to complete the meal. After the meal we again had games with several playing Pegs & Jokers, Mexican Train and Holey Board. Sunday started with a Continental Breakfast again and people slowly headed out to their next destination. Our thanks to Dave McKitrick who got up early each morning to have our coffee ready. Our thanks also to all who came. Weather was good, the company was exceptional and we enjoyed visiting a new area. The RV Park was very helpful and provided the entertainment for all campers at no extra cost to us. We could not have asked for a better outing. President's Message Continued: It is my goal to have a slate of members who agree to be chairpersons or members of various committees for the 2019 TN State Rally prior to the new officers taking over in Oct If we can have a proposed slate of new officers days in advance of the October 2018 campout and election, it would be helpful in preparing for the new terms. I have found that the duties of the President in the off-rally year is not that time consuming and there are a lot of members more than willing to assist when needed. 5
