I saw a bright light and a beautiful woman in a flowing gown motioning me to walk toward the light. As I walked nearer and nearer, I felt more peaceful than I ve ever felt before. When I reached the light, I saw all the friends and family members who had passed on before me. They were welcoming me and urging me to join them in the hereafter. All of a sudden, I heard a faint voice that grew louder with each word. It said, Stop. Come back. Stop. Come back. I turned around and asked, Why? You have unfinished business, the voice responded. What s that? I answered. The harbor mouth needs to be dug out before launch day! With a deep gasp, I woke up. I ll get on that right away, I mumbled. My wife, who was lying beside me, snapped: Get on what? You had better not be dreaming about that freakin yacht club again. Nope, I said. I was just thinking about that hallway that you said needs a coat of paint. Yeah, right, she muttered. Yep, it s that time of year again. Pier bidding has passed and people are itching to hit the open water. Keep in mind that there is a lot of unfinished business in the next few months. Steel plating needs to be welded along the harbor wall. Concrete will be poured. Landscaping will be done. Contact our committee chairs to see what you can do to help. Roxanne and Mike Gengler have been such gracious hosts to a slew of guests from SMYC escaping ugly late winter, W i s c o n - sin weather. Seen in the attached photo, during a stop at Don & Del Green's place on Ft. Myers Beach, are Oscar Night Party attendees, Dona Cieczka, Lois Kowalczewski, Paula Modlinski and fellow snowbird. Sandra Kilman. Kenneth Kilman saw to it that deposed king of his castle, Mike Gengler Sr., and vacationing Jim Spiess weren't left to sleep on the beach, while the women stayed up into the early morning hours, partying like movie stars at Gengler's Bonita Springs casa, where the weather, even at 2 am was perfect, even on the 3rd tee. The February 17th Casino Night proved to be loads of fun, thanks to John & Sheryl Dave Taubman is again a very proud Grandpa, this Hurula and their time of twin boys born to his eldest son and daughterin-law on March 6th. Healthy grandsons, Maximilian large committee of happy volunteers and Sebastian are two more wonderful additions to an who assured the exponentially growing list of boys, starting off with night was both Jacob who is now a grand four-year-old, produced and entertaining and directed by Dave's son Marc and wife Liliana. 4 Fleet Captain Update Well it s that time of the year again when we all start thinking about boating. On March 3 rd we had pier bidding day. When we started out the day we had 17 piers available. Twenty-two bids later, everyone who submitted an application for a pier spot received a permanent pier location. After all the bidding was completed we still had 10 spots not bid on, and three temporary spots available for the year. If you know of anyone outside the club that is looking to move to S.M.Y.C, now is the right time to get them to join. This year we will be able to offer 4-6 of these spots which will fit bigger boats, so have them get in touch with Klam while they are still available. The crane is booked for Launch day thanks to Butch Webb. From today there are 68 more days. Launch Day is May 12 th. Mark it on your calendars. With spring coming up soon, here are a couple of reminders. Lock your ladders up and unplug your electrical cords before you leave the club grounds. Failure to do so will subject you to fines. Also keep your area clean around your boat, and remember if you are sanding you must tarp around your boat. Check the list of insurance forms on the Club board to make sure yours has not expired and not been re-submitted. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
