3 Chapter Directors Rob & Amanda Stufflebeam Greetings B3 Wow we never really had a Fall, did we? It seemed as if we went from Summer straight into Winter. Just like a Facebook meme said the other day; Summer didn t just fade away it packed its bags & moved out overnight. Sadly, we had several rides on the schedule cancelled and/or severely hampered by the cold or damp conditions, but several B3 s did get out and ride despite the temperatures - so way to go! Fun Day was fun! (sorry couldn t resist that one) After the October Gathering many chapter members made their way to Randy Young s house for some good food and great games. The weather tried to hamper us again by turning hot then raining and back to hot but we persevered and made the most of it. Many, many thanks to all who came out to participate and bring their side dishes, desserts and games for all to enjoy. Even though the sort-of official end of riding season is upon us, that doesn t mean everything grinds to a halt. As I write this, the Obetz Halloween Party event is swiftly coming up. If you re reading this after Oct 26 and you came out to help, many thanks! Also, we have our 2019 Ride Planning meeting approaching on Oct 27 th, and again, if you re reading this afterwards and you came out to assist, many thanks. Nov 3 rd will see our last Gathering of the year and it won t be one to miss. Be sure to turn in your mileage for the year and let us know if you want a mileage bar. If you are planning on attending the B3 Christmas Party at Der Dutchman in Plain City on Dec 1 st at 2:00pm, then you must bring your payment and pass it along to Francis. Cost is $19.50 per person. Also, if there are open slots in the First Aid class coming up in January, (check with Gary Ballou for availability) then you need to being your payment for that too. (its $25.00). On Nov 9 th B3 will be meeting at the Obetz Community Center and assisting the District in setting up for the Fall Officer s Meeting being held the next day, Saturday, Nov 10 th. The more we have the faster it ll go, and the District Staff will be there too. B3 is providing some coffee for the meeting, and we re having a bake sale to hopefully raise a little money for the Chapter. Bring your baked goods on the 9 th and we ll ensure they get set out for sale. Tuesday Nov 13 th will have our Dinner Ride to Clay s in Hebron, OH meet there at 6:30pm. And finally, we will have our last 2018 Mid-Month Team Meeting on Thursday Nov 15 th. We can finalize plans for the Movie Lunch outing planned for Saturday Nov 17 th, as well as the last few items on the Calendar up to the end of the year. That s it from us for now. As always, ride often and ride safe! Rob & Amanda Stufflebeam November

4 Membership Enhancement & Social Coordinator Mary Bayes OUR CORE VALUES It is now time to turn our attention to the :CORE VALUES" of our association. These are values that "ALL" of our GWRRA officers from the Chapter level to the "top of the house" should strive to exhibit... EXCELLENCE: Our quest for excellence includes an abiding pride in our association... CHARACTER: Honesty, integrity, and commitment are the key character elements in developing trust and respect within our association... FOCUS: Our focus is to meet the needs of our Members and provide leadership through our officers and staff... ATTUTUDE: Our officers and staff maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and creative attitude in their approach of providing an atmosphere for "FUN, SAFTEY, AND KNOWLEDGE"... FAIRNESS: The resolution of any issue should stand the test of "IS IT FAIR?" Is it fair to the Members? Is it fair to the Officers? Is it fair to the Association? These should all be considerations in everything we do... COMMUNICATION: The more we share information and communicate about goals, values, measures, and rewards, the more effective we can be as individuals and as Members of the association... TEAM WORK: Team work is the ability to work together toward our common vision. It is our ability to direct individual accomplishment toward association objectives. It is the fuel that allows all of us to achieve exceptional result. TRAINING: Well-trained Officers and Staff will provide improved Member services and create increased position satisfaction. QUALITY: To be the best that we can be and to hold the Members in highest esteem and respect will guarantee the quality of our association... The core values form the basis of many other facets of the "Officer Handbook. Do these sound like the qualities you would like to see in our Chapter. They are simply easy to understand and if "YOU" keep them in mind as we go about running our Chapter, you will have happy Members and a thriving Chapter... A copy of the Officer Hand book can be found at GWRRA.org. Article by Jack Wagner PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS: Bill Ford: Is still receiving treatments, but his counts are up and he is growing hair again... Tom Eden: Is home recovering... Evelyn DeLong: Has had medical procedure, still may be having more.. Pat Richards: Medical problems... Harry & Sandy Durbin: Have had health issues... Leatha Yahn & Family: After the loss of Buck.. November

5 IF I HAVE MISSED SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW... Special Events Coordinator Esther Ford Fall is here, the trees are colorful the air is brisk. Enjoy it, it will not last long. Thanks for all the help with the Halloween party. Obetz certainly does a lot for their community and really appreciate your support. Our November gathering will be the last time for us to bring food for the pantry before the holidays. Please bring whatever you can there is a great need this time of year. Ladies lunch will be at the Cracker Barrel on 256, in Pickerington, at noon on November 8th. Remember the Christmas party and the gift exchange. $15 gift limit. Guys bring a gift for guys and ladies for ladies. Also if you could bring something for the door prize table. See you at the next event. Esther Thoughts On The Mechanical World Waterproofing Speakers When replacing speakers on a Goldwing, take the Waterproof label with a grain of sault. Before installing, spray the speakers with clear lacquer (the type used to spray cars). Two or three light coats (front and rear) make sure they really are waterproofed and there is no noticeable difference in sound quality. You don t have to have access to spray equipment to do this small job. Just buy a can of clear acrylic lacquer and do it yourself. From Steve Saunders Goldwing Page November

The 2019 Rally is pleased to offer you new attractions. Ride on the Branson Scenic Railway at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30 th or 2:00 p.m. on Friday May 31 st, The ride boards at Branson Landing and lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes. It is a 40 mile round-trip excursion through the panoramic Ozark foothills. You will go through tunnels and cross bridges & trestles. Your travel will be on vintage passenger cars pulled by the BSRX 98 Locomotive (1951) and the BSRX 99 Locomotive (1962) through Southwest Missouri or Northwest Arkansas. Being a commercial railroad line, The Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railroad will determine the train s direction of travel depending on the freight traffic just prior to departure. Historical narration is provided. There are 3 Budd Dome Lounge cars (1947, 1952). Seating is unassigned and you are encouraged to tour through the entire train. All the cars have been restored and refurbished to offer the same first-class experience and ambiance to today s passengers as to those they carried 50 year ago. There is a concession area aboard the Silver Lake Car (1951) that offers refreshments for purchase. And of course at the end of your ride, there is a gift shop in the train depot that carries many train items. It is suggested that you make your reservations through the attached GWRRA Registration form as early as possible. The 2018 GWRRA Rally had an attendance of 576 people. Thank you Goldwingers! We aim to please each of you with the return of fabulous vendors, a new caricature artist, the highest cash 50/50 drawings daily in rally history, free meals, great discounted meals, and new vendors. And let s face it we have reasonable hotel accommodations. This year we have Sight & Sound Theatre s SAMSON Biblical show discounted for you. 20 When there s snow on your window ledge and salt on the driveway, think of Summer Roads There are blossoms on the hawthorn That scent the morning breeze And the oak and the ash and the copper beech Are covered down with leaves And the road is white in the morning light As it runs down from my door And the lark is high in the golden sky And I'm on my way once more Chorus: Down Summer Roads all full of turns and bends Summer Roads that lead to all my friends Summer Roads by summer streams Where I live all my winter dreams And the good times always start down Summer Roads There is music all around me In every bush and tree And the cuckoo and the corncrake Keep calling out me And the linnet's song rings all day long To greet me as I go And as I pass in the roadside grass The magpie nods "Hello" Chorus In the quiet of the evening I rosin up my bow And I start in nice and easy With something soft and slow There's a faster beat in the village street And the friends all start to sway And the fiddle sings and the laughter rings And they dance 'til the break of day Chorus There's a corner in my memory Where all the good times stay In all my summer ramblings There are good times every day 'Round every bend, I find a friend A welcome and a smile And pleasant hours in fields of flowers A memory every mile Chorus Tommy Makem November
