Don't delete it from your computer, and don't throw it away with the old Christmas wrappings. We will be taking AMTRAC to SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO on December 2nd for fun, shopping and tapas. I understand COCINA DEL CHARRO will be decorated for Christmas, so we will be festive for Happy Hour in San Marcos. We will be celebrating our holiday luncheon at the BOAT HOUSE on the lake in San Marcos on the 10th of December. Reservations are needed for you and friends and family. We will have entertainment and good company. So, we will not be having our regular lunch, LEO, and coffee this month. Please don't get lost finding the BOAT HOUSE. (Directions on page 6) January will find us back on schedule. Lunch, LEO, coffee etc. Start thinking about and signing up for our bus trip to Viejas casino and outlet mall. Bring friends and family. We will have a 50% discount on food. Poker players are ready to go. Check inside for information.(page 6) Donate a unwrapped toy or gift card (appropriate for teens) for the MARINE TOY DRIVE and bring it to the luncheon in December. Have a Merry HAPPY HOLIDAY. 3 Monthly Activities Information BRUNCH BUNCH Please join us at Sal & Ceci s at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. and on Thursday, Jan. 7. JUANITA SAVAGE, CHAIR BOOK CLUB December we will be reading a Christmas Holiday Book of our choice and meeting at the home of Sharon Hayes. In January, we will be reading Defending Jacob by William Landay. Trudy Snell will host us. The February book is Day After Night by Anita Diamante, Maureen Tutino will be our hostess. March read is The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert, Rosie Dubail will be hosting us. Please let our hostesses know of your planned attendance. Maureen Tutino COFFEE December -- Come join us for our Holiday Friendship Luncheon on Dec. 10th.Talented Lisa Fuller will entertain us with her songs of the season, accompanied by her skilled guitarist. We just might have a special visit from two little singing elves as well. Sounds like fun, don't miss it. Dec. 10 at 11:30 We need your reservation by Dec. 1st. January --A new year brings opportunities to clean out our closets and make way for new things. Bring all those white elephant treasures to our JANUARY WHITE ELEPHANT RAFFLE. Items need to be in excellent condition & your name needs to be on the bottom of the items. Tickets will be 6 for $5. What a great way to pass on your treasures to other club members and perhaps pick up something special for yourself. See you there! Our LEO in January will be on Thursday, January, 21 we will be meeting at the Flying Pig Restaurant in Vista, 230 So. Santa Fe. 4 SUNSHINE MEMBERSHIP I sent thinking of you cards to Ardis McAndrew and Grace Hoffman. Ardis fell and hurt her back and nose slightly. So glad it was nothing more serious. Grace had some pain issues. I hope you re both doing well ladies. Thank you Ardis McAndrew and Judy Patterson for the greeting cards. They sure come in handy. I sent a Get well Hug card to Marilyn Groover. While on vacation she tripped, fell and broke her left arm. She broke both lower arm bones, the ulna and radius. Within a while her doctors will determine if she may have to have the arm operated on. Let s hope it will heal without having to go through an operation. Take care Marilyn. Hope you re not in too much pain. Remember, please let me know if anyone needs a get well, thinking of you or just a pick me up card and I will be happy to send one out. The January Game Group meeting will be on Monday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Marilyn Freitag's house. Make plans to join us for some fun-filled hours of game playing. 5 BUNCO For you newcomers: We play Bunco on the 1st Monday of every month at 1:00 pm. We are 12, and once a year we host Bunco at our home. We regulars put in $4.00 to play and $2.00 extra for our Bunco lunch in January. I have a list of subs we call on when our regulars are not available to play that day. They of course only put in $4.00 to play. Most buncos can fetch you up to $16.00 unless you have to share. Most wins $12.00, 2nd most wins $8.00, 50/50 is $8.00 and if you have most losses you can win $4.00. Again that amount is if you don t have to share with anyone. Come play with us. I will put you on my Sub list and perhaps you ll get called to play with us. We sure have lots of fun. 6 DECEMBER TRAIN TRIP Save the date for the VF&N's exciting December Special Event, a train trip to and lunch in San Juan Capristrano on Wed. Dec. 2. The Amtrak Train leaves from the Oceanside station at 10:18 for a 30 minute ride to SJC arriving at 10:48. The round trip fare is $ Tickets are purchased at the station. Our lunch is scheduled at Gaupas Tapas, only a few steps from the station, at 11:30, giving you some time to look around and shop. This restaurant features about 40 tapas (small bite plates all ment to be shared and all delicious. They also serve individual salads and sandwiches. Since we will be sharing, I suggest you come prepared to pay cash toward one large check only. There are two return trip choices, one at 1:44 and one at 4:12 for those who would like to stay and shop or visit the Mission, only three blocks away. There is a free 3 story parking structure just north of the Oceanside Amtrak Station. For those who need to car pool, I suggest meeting at The Burlington Coat Factory about 9:00 to allow plenty of time to drive to Oceanside, park and purchase your tickets. All bus riders must have valid photo id and a club membership card in order for us to quality for free bus. This is a fund raiser for the club and all monies received will be kept by club. The Outlet Mall is across the street from the casino for members wishing to shop. Feel free to invite friends.
