1 Site Name: Camp Copneconic 39 Address: Fenton Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1929 (date source: Tax records) Architectural Style: American Lodge/Timber Framed Other Buildings/Features: There are several buildings on this property, but they are located within other municipalities. History /Descriptive Notes: The site was originally an encampment established by Native Amercians who were a branch of the Fisher tribe, related to the Wanado and Chippewa. The camp opened in 1915 and contains 240 acres. The main lodge has wood siding with a field stone chimney. It was once the resort area for Grand Blanc families to retreat on weekends for a change of scenery. At the turn of the century, four of the Perry children camped out with their grandparents, father, and an uncle in a tent which proudly bore the name Camp Hyde. There used to be an access road off Baldwin Road to what was called Grand Blanc Lake per the 1873 settlement map. It has since been removed and visitors access Camp Copneconic from Fenton Road. Refer to the township history section of this book for additional information on Camp Copneconic.

2 40 Site Name: The Walker/Perry Farm Address: 5159 Genesee Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: pre 1900 (date source: owner) Architectural Style: Tudor Revival Other Buildings/Features: One barn structure of the same hand hewn beam construction, which suggests it is as old as the house. History/Descriptive Notes: Elihu Remington was first owner of this land, who in 1884 sold it to Walter and Julia (Remington) Walker. This home is in the same location as the home shown on the 1873 settlement map which suggests it is older than Ezra Perry and Bernice (Walker) Perry lived here before building a house on the northerly 53 acres. The Ezra Perry Center at Perry and Saginaw Roads was named after him. Further research is recommended for verification of age. Site Name: The Mrs. Allen Home Address: 5216 S. Genesee Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1880 (date source: tax records) Architectural Style: Folk Victorian Other Buildings/Features: One barn structure. History/Descriptive Notes: This is perhaps the home of Mrs. Allen as it is shown in the same location as the house on the 1873 settlement map. The 1870 census shows a Sophia Allen as a single woman living in this area and would suggest the home is older than Perhaps she was a widow and thus held the status of Mrs. Further research is recommended for verification.

Genesee Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1880 (date source: tax records) Architectural Style: Farm House Other Buildings/Features: No out buildings present. 41 History/Descriptive Notes: Records indicate this may be the home of A. L. Allen as it is shown in the same location as the house on the 1873 settlement map. Additionally, the 1870 census shows that A. L. Allen lived in this area as a farmer and suggests that this home is older that There may be a connection to the home at 5216 Genesee Road as well. Further research is recommended for verification. 4 42 Site Name: The Fletcher Farm Address: 1414 Grand Blanc Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1864 (date source: newspaper article) Architectural Style: Colonial Revival Other Buildings/Features: Three out buildings present. Current owner believes the large red barn near the road may have been rebuilt. Tax records show it being built in This may be in relation to the fire as mentioned below. As well, the 1870 census shows William Fletcher was a farmer in this area. The original Fletcher farm house was lost to fire (exact date is unknown). In the late 1920s a home located at the southwest corner of Saginaw and Reid Roads (now the City of Grand Blanc) was moved to this property by way of logs and horses. Tax records indicate it was built in History/Descriptive Notes: This home may possibly be the home of Jay Adams as it is located in the same area as the home on the 1873 settlement map. This would suggest the home is older than Kenneth Turk owned the home in the 1950s. The house was moved about 100 to 200 feet east from the original position and when set was placed a few degrees off of parallel to the road. It is unknown when or why this was done. Address: 2406 E. Grand Blanc Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1900 (date source: tax records) Architectural Style: Georgian Revival Other Buildings/Features: One Barn and silo. Tax records indicate the barn was built in History/Descriptive Notes: This home sets on land owned by J. P. Adams, who owned land on each side of Grand Blanc. The 1873 settlement map indicates a home in this area; however, tax records indicate the home was not built until Further research is recommended for verification of year built and original owner. Grand Blanc Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1872 (date source: owner) Architectural Style: Greek Revival, before additions Other Buildings/Features: One Barn which was constructed in 1990 over the previous barn site. History/Descriptive Notes: The date of this home coincides with its location on the 1873 settlement map, indicating it was built by John P. Adams, owner of 218 acres, along with his wife Mary F., on both sides of Grand Blanc Road at the time. This home was purchased by John Applegate in 1964 who constructed the barn in 1990±. This property is still presently in the Applegate family. Address: 9017 Graytrax Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: unknown Architectural Style: 1 ½- story Farm House Other Buildings/Features: There is a house with no apparent out buildings. History /Descriptive Notes: According to the 1873 settlement map, there was a building at this site. It may have been part of the Phillips property.

Most are located along Grove Ave, a few on Lincoln Blvd. Further research is needed to determine the historic significance of these homes, if any. Address: Halsey Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1880 (date source: tax records) Architectural Style: 1 ½- story Farm House Other Buildings/Features: Farm house with a utility building. History /Descriptive Notes: This home has been updated with aluminum and vinyl siding. The property was patented in 1834 by the Waterous family and the 1873 settlement map shows that it remains a part of E.C. Waterous 110 acre farm. The house was moved here from the east side of Holly Road, north of Baldwin Road, however, the date of this move is unknown.

9 Site Name: The Waterous Home Address: Halsey Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1890 (date source: tax records ) Architectural Style: 2- story Farm House Other Buildings/Features: Site has the main residence, a garage, a small concrete building, and a silo. History /Descriptive Notes: Part of the 160 acres patented to J. H. Waterous in 1834, which was later owned by E. C. Waterous and Mary Waterous, indenpendatly. The daughter of Edward W. Waterous states that he was born in this house in In 1894 the land was deeded to Lewis P. Wright who s wife was the granddaughter to Silas D. Halsey. It is very well preserved with siding and original windows. There have been several upgrades and additions, including a screened-in porch. It is currently a 10 acre parcel with horse facilities on site. The existing silo is overgrown with vegetation. 47 Address: Halsey Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: circa 1930 (date source: approximated from on-site review) Architectural Style: French Colonial Other Buildings/Features: 1 ¾ story house with a utility building. History /Descriptive Notes: The 1873 map shows this property being a part of M. H. Kennedy s 160 acre farm. It was part of the Kennedy family since its patent in 1835.

10 48 Site Name: The John Perry Home Address: Halsey Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1880 (date source: tax records ) Architectural Style: 2- story Ornate Farm House Other Buildings/Features: Has a barn, built currently sets on 44 acres. History /Descriptive Notes: Mr. Lewis Kennedy bought the land from the US Government in 1835 and built a log cabin as stated in a mortage deed recorded in 1838 a good log house with brick chimney and oven. The 1873 settlement map shows a building on this site. In 1879, the property was sold to Mr. John Perry,who built the house and barn shown. Old photos found in the attic. Name of woman-unknown. History /Descriptive Notes: This farm house was built with what is known as utility brick from South Carolina. The bricks were brought up north by train then loaded on horse-drawn wagons. The foundation is made of thick field stone found in the area. The exterior is virtually unchanged with original windows, brick, and foundations. The method of lighting the interior was unique because of the use of an outside carbide gas generator with a telescoping tank. The 1873 map shows this property being a part of Newton Franklin Chapel s 80 acre farm. He built this home for his son Charles when he got married. 49 Address: Halsey Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: circa 1900 (date source: approximated from on-site review) Architectural Style: 1 ¾- story Farm House Other Buildings/Features: The existing building has been renovated several times with additions and a deck. History /Descriptive Notes: The 1873 map shows a building on this property and was a part of N. E. Chapel s 80 acre farm.

12 50 Site Name: The Davison/Evatt Farmstead Address: 3305 E. Hill Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: (date source: owner) Architectural Style: Georgian Revival Other Buildings/Features: Several out buildings including a barn built ca (nearest Hill Road) which once housed sheep. Wool was stored in its cork-lined upper story. A dairy barn and chicken house remain (both built ca. 1870). And the shop, a large white barn sitting parallel to the railroad, was used as a blacksmith and wood shop (built ca. 1870) and still houses John Davison s horse powered wood lathe. John was a carpenter who built the back portion of this home in Andrew was a blacksmith and raised sheep and later draft horses. John also built the house at 3305 Hill Road and one in Atlas Township. This house still holds many original features including the intricate wood trim crafted by John Davison. John Evatt, John Davison s great-grandson, ran the farm with wife Margaret, where they grew vegetables, raised beef and dairy cattle, and tapped on-site maple trees for maple syrup. After neighbor C. D. W. Gibson rejected the railroad s proposal to locate in Gibsonville, the Davison family agreed to let the railroad bisect their farm. They also played a key role in the establishment of Evergreen Cemetery, leasing them six acres. When the lease expired, the Davisons gave the land to the cemetery, which has expanded throughout the years to approximately 80 acres.. Still an active farmstead today, it operated for 3 generations as a dairy farm. It is currently one of only three state historic registered sites in Grand Blanc Township. A state historic farmstead marker is located on site.

Hill Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1859 (date source: owner) Architectural Style: Farm House Other Buildings/Features: none History/Descriptive Notes: The 1873 settlement map and 1870 Census shows an S. L. Parks farmed this land, and due to the age of the home, most likely lived in this house. It was built by John Davison, a carpenter who also built and owned the Davison farm house just to the west on Hill Road. In 1925 Helen Miller purchased the home, where she lived until The original exterior was wood siding with Victorian accents and no porch. 51 Site Name: William Rust Home Address: 4423 E. Hill Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1839 (date source: owner) Architectural Style: Colonial Other Buildings/Features: garage built in 2001 per tax records. History/Descriptive Notes: Records indicate that John Remington received the original patent of 40 acres from the government on May 20, Based on the age of the home, it would suggest that it was built by the Remingtons. However, sources claim that it was built by William Rust, who purchased the land in The 1870 census list no Remingtons in Grand Blanc, but do list William Rust, his wife Mary, and three children: Sumner, Edward, and Julia.

Hill Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1920 (date source: owner) Architectural Style: Georgian Revival Other Buildings/Features: 3 out buildings: barn built in 1979, shed built in 1920 (per tax records), and other barn unknown. History/Descriptive Notes: Maurice and Angeline Myers lived in this home. The Myers were a large family in the northeast portion of the township. Site Name: Kenneth & Edith Myers Home Address: 6117 E. Hill Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1911 (date source: tax records) Architectural Style: Georgian Revival Other Buildings/Features: one garage and one shed. History/Descriptive Notes: Kenneth and Edith Myers lived in this home. The Myers were a large family in the northeast portion of the township. This home sits directly east of the 6105 Hill Road Myers home (see above).

Site Name: Address: Holly Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1840 (date source: tax records) Architectural Style: Farm House Other buildings/features: Several additions including a garage. History /Descriptive Notes: The 1873 Settlement map indicates a building in this approximate location belonging to the Wright family. We recommend additional research to determine if the year built is accurate. If so, this may be one of the oldest buildings in Grand Blanc Township and worth investigating.

History/Descriptive Notes: Willis Perry built this home for his newly wed son, George. It was built from red clay tile made at the nearby Perry Farm. Original Barn and chicken coop were removed per pervious owner. 55 History/Descriptive Notes: According to a previous owner, their deed stated the Buckingham family homesteaded it in the 1830s. However, The original government patent map ( ±) shows Peter Van Tifflin as owner. The 1873 settlement map shows a D. Van Tifflin as owner and a house in its present location. This property had five wells, one of which is under the house. The north side of the house was a log cabin. Further research is recommended to verify age. Address: 1132 E. This neighborhood is part of the Lincoln Manor subdivision where other homes range from the 1940s to the 1970s. This property was once part of the Lincoln Airport owned by the Lincoln Oil Company (refer to Mildred Doran history under the miscellaneous section for further information). It is believed that the barn and silo were built by Jacob and Amelia Bush in 1883 and the house was located across the street, which is now a part of Atlas Township. The Bush family occupied this site from They moved to Atlas Township and then back to this farm from At that time, they moved into a Victorian Queen Anne house in downtown Grand Blanc, located where Hill Funeral Home is today.
