It was a working farm through the 1970s, including the house, barn, milk house, and a windmill tower.

History /Descriptive Notes: This farm house was owned by T. P. McWain and it is believed that McWain Road is named after Acey McWain. They owned both sides of the road, with the milk house and barns on the west side. The 1873 settlement map shows this 120 acre property as being a part of T. P. McWain s farm and indicates a building on site. History /Descriptive Notes: The farm house has a brick exterior. The 1873 settlement map shows this property being in the George Embury family. The property was patented in 1836 to Caleb Embury and included 160 acres and it remained in the Embury family for over 100 years.

When it was relocated, it was placed on a basement and a garage was added. Many of the interior and exterior design features from the 1920 s have remained in tact settlement map of the Perry settlement area

5 Site Name: The Perry/McGrath Home 65 Address: 5078 Perry Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1834 (per historic documentation) Architectural Style: Greek Revival Other Buildings/Features: Barn is dated 1834 per records. History/Descriptive Notes: This home, built by Simeon Perry, son of Edmund Perry, is the oldest of the remaining Perry homes and considered one of the first wood framed houses in Genesee County. Simeon s daughter, Isabel, was the first white child born in Genesee County and grew up in this house. The Perrys, who settled here in 1824, were highly instrumental to the development of the Grand Blanc Territory, as they were the second white settlers to the area. Simeon was one of 10 children to Edmund Perry. As the children married and settled on land, this area became know as the Perry Settlement. In 1928 Paul McGrath, a Buick Executive and Grand Blanc Board of Education Member, lived in this house for decades. Archeological digs and extensive studies have been completed on this property (currently owned by the township) for preservation, community uses, and educational programming. These options are presently being evaluated as well as preservation funding sources. In 2005, the SHPO determined this site to be eligible for National Registry. 6 66 Site Name: The William Minter Home Address: 5369 Perry Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1936 (per owner) Architectural Style: Art Deco/Modern Other Buildings/Features: no out buildings. History/Descriptive Notes: This home was designed by world famous architect Howard C. Crane, who also designed the Fox Theatre, Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall, United Artist Theatre, and Capital Theatre to name a few. It is believed that the original owner, William Minter, owned one of his theatres in Flint and commissioned Crane to build this house in the 1930s. Site Name: The William R. Perry Home Address: 6025 Perry Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1894 (per historic records) Architectural Style: Victorian Queen Anne Other Buildings/Features: Two car garage. History/Descriptive Notes: This home is one of the last remaining Perry homes located in the Perry Settlement, which is the area settled by Edmund Perry, Williams great uncle, and the second pioneer to enter the Grand Blanc Territory. The 1873 settlement map shows that William owned this land of 110 acres. The barn was lost to fire in the 1950s and the original cistern is still located in the basement. This home is one of three state registered historic sites in Grand Blanc Township.

7 Horse Barn Site Name: McDonald Barns 67 Cow Barn Address: 6262 Perry Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: unknown Architectural Style: Cow barn Prairie Barn Horse barn Georgian History/Descriptive Notes: This property was owned by G. W. (Mac) and Fannie Routzon. Their children were Mark, Mary, Marvin, Veda, George, Glen, Guy, Floy, and Vera. This later became known as the McDonald Farm, now inactive and surrounded by new residential subdivisions. It currently sits on approximately 12 acres. The large barn (far left) was the cow barn and the smaller one (upper left) was the horse barn. Address: 6377 Perry Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1903 (per owner) Architectural Style: Georgian Other Buildings/Features: several out buildings including carriage barn, milk shed, and caretaker shed. History/Descriptive Notes: According to the present owner, a plaque in the barn bears the year 1903, however, the 1873 settlement map shows a house in the same location as where this home presently sits, suggesting that it may be older than The barn has original wood beams and pegs. Further research is recommended for verification.

13 73 Site Name: The Morgan Home Address: 5510 S. Saginaw Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1860± (per owner) Architectural Style: Log Cabin Other Buildings/Features: A barn was constructed in 2004 using timbers, square head nails, and wood from raised barns between 75 and 100 years old. History/Descriptive Notes: The wood trim throughout the interior of the house and timber framing dates back to Timbers and roof purlins frame the walls and roof. They are made from round hand hewn logs and were taken from a barn on the Husted Farm, formerly located south of Grand Blanc. This structure is believed to be a training facility and a stage coach stopover for the Civil War soldiers taking the train out of Fenton. The main building was moved to this location by logs down Saginaw Street in 1942 from the NE corner of Saginaw and Hill Roads and was located in Whigville. It was placed on a new basement foundation and a breezeway and field stone garage were added to the house. In 1984 the house was left vacant and faced possible demolition or another relocation. History /Descriptive Notes: The house was originally part of the Owen farm in 1880 and is just south of Warwick Hills Country Club. It was moved in the winter of from the present site of Warwick Hills Clubhouse to its current location. Most are located along Silverton with a few on Rollins and Beulah. Although their historic significance is not apparent, they could be considered part of the Whigville community. The committee shall decide if further research is necessary. Site Name: The Armstrong Home Address: 5490 S. Vassar Road Tax Parcel Number: Year Built: 1885 (date source: historic Grand Blanc newspaper) Architectural Style: Farm House Other Buildings/Features: several out buildings including two barns. History/Descriptive Notes: Built by Albert Armstrong in 1885 for $1200. Prior to this, the family lived in a log structure just north of this house and on the opposite side of Vassar Road. The homestead was originally made up of 120 acres.

One barn appears to be a pre-manufactured type. History /Descriptive Notes: The 1873 settlement map does indicate that a building was located in this approximate area as part of the Alex Hoffman property. The original patent, obtained in 1833, indicates that this parcel belonged to Mr. Nehemiah S.
