EDITORIAL A new identity to turn an ambition into reality: to rank among the top 3 cities for hosting events In the past few years Bordeaux has become the place to meet and the recently inaugurated Bordeaux Matmut stadium and future major infrastructure projects like la Cité du Vin and the high-speed LGV railway line serve to reaffirm this. As further proof of this attraction, Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux hosted and organised 370 conferences, exhibitions, conventions, competitive examinations and other meetings for business and the general public in 2014 at the 4 sites that we manage (the Exhibition Centre, the Convention Centre, the Cité Mondiale Convention Centre and Hangar 14). Today the stars have aligned to allow Bordeaux to make it to the top 3 cities for hosting professional and general public events in France, and we are ready to do our part in making sure that happens. To make this dream a reality, we have launched the Bordeaux Events brand, dedicated to our event hosting activity. We have also created this new identity in order to connect with our regional, national and international clients. Our objective is to continue our market expansion through creativity and innovation. The reorganization involved is aimed at increasing the loyalty and satisfaction of our clients through customised services and greater proximity. Bordeaux Events not only offers organisers 4 locations for hosting events, but also its expertise and passion for events. Eric Dulong, President of Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux 3

Bordeaux Events, a new brand for new ambitions With a new development strategy, strengthened teams and commercial policies, and the launch of a new website, Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux is ready to expand its event hosting activity in France and internationally and propel Bordeaux into the top 3 French cities for business tourism. In order to achieve these new ambitions and support its development, Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux, a key player in the greater South West region of France, has launched its brand, "Bordeaux Events". Bordeaux Events, a catalyst for business tourism With total revenue of 27.3 million euros in 2014 (+5% compared to 2013) and 105 employees, Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux is a major economic player with activities centred on two areas of expertise: Event Production", for producing and organising major events (exhibitions for the general public, trade events, sports competitions); "Event Hosting", for business and/or the general public. Under an operating agreement and with a commercial lease, Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux operates 4 major sites in Bordeaux: the Exhibition Centre, the Convention Centre, the Cité Mondiale Convention Centre and Hangar 14. Today, Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux is launching a new "Bordeaux Events" brand, with the goal of raising the profile of the "Event Hosting" business by promoting its expertise and events. With this brand, the management of Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux is seeking primarily to move into a new territory of communication and to clearly demonstrate that the focus is on clients and their events. Much more than a "space rental" service, Bordeaux Events is truly a partner for events organisers. Run by Karine Santa-Maria, this division has 22 employees who place their expertise at the service of key accounts, institutional investors, organisations, learned societies, and regional, national and international companies. In 2014, Bordeaux Events hosted 300 events with 550,000 conventioneers and participants. 4

A strong ambition to make Bordeaux one of the top 3 cities for hosting events With this new identity, Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux promotes Bordeaux as a destination in order to propel the city into the top 3 French cities for business tourism. Bordeaux Events aims to boost the city s influence with the goal of attracting major regional, national and international events such as: ITS World Congress: 5-9 October 2015 at the Exhibition Centre, 10,000 visitors 9 th International Abilympics, Olympics of skills for disabled people: March 2016 at the Exhibition Centre, 80 to 100,000 visitors 8 th World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology: 30 May-4 June 2016 at the Convention Centre, 1,800 conventioneers 11 th European Congress of Neuropathology: 6-9 July 2016 the Cité Mondiale Convention Centre, 500 participants Bordeaux Events also intends to contribute to the development of business clusters and sectors of excellence in the Aquitaine region by providing support in the organization of specific events for these sectors. Strengthened organisation and communication Together the 4 event locations form a competitive offering adapted to all event types: international, national and regional, for business or the general public. The complementary management of these venues is assured by a network of teams, now united by the Bordeaux Events brand. The new blend of skills and experiences (in particular with the arrival of an audio-visual media production manager and 2 new sales representatives) is supported by an ambitious sales action plan. The new sales policy brings the focus back to the various markets (organisations and conventions, exhibition organisers, and corporate events), with new turnkey offers. Bordeaux Events development strategy also features new communication tools, including a purposefully customer-oriented website, Simultaneously, Bordeaux Events has strengthened its social media presence through Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. And beginning in 2016, a newsletter will highlight all the wealth of the hosted events. 5

and 70 million invested in facilities Another project will allow Bordeaux Events to compete with other great European host sites: the renovation of the Bordeaux Exhibition Centre, the 2 nd largest in France (outside Paris) with 130 ha, of which 84,000m² are covered and 120,000m² are outside. In 2016, construction work will begin for a new hall (to replace the current Hall 2) which will be fully modular catering for up to 3,500 people, with 10 to 12 committee rooms and an exhibition space making it possible to host large-scale events starting in At the same time, large-scale renovation work will begin in Hall 1, a covered surface area of 50,400 m². Global investment is estimated at 70 million euros ( 30M for the new hall and 40M for Hall 1). Participating investors include the City of Bordeaux, Bordeaux Métropole, the Aquitaine Region and the SBEPEC (Société Bordelaise des Équipements Publics d'expositions et de Congrès). Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux, committed to environmental and local development Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux seeks to contribute to the development of exemplary business tourism. After being awarded ISO 9001 certification in January 2008, a true guarantee of quality and customer satisfaction, in June 2012 Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux earned ISO certification, which pertains to the environmental impact generated by the entity s site management activity and which is based on an initiative of ongoing improvement and pollution prevention: Waste management: implementation of an internal waste collection centre, waste sorting, carpet recycling and conversion into raw materials. Reduced energy (electricity and gas) and water consumption, and optimisation of their use on the various sites. Promoting eco-transport: internally through the use of clean and economical vehicles (electric cars, bikes ) and externally through incentive offers that encourage car sharing, public transport, and the tramway for visitors. Carbon footprint: providing clients with carbon audits at their request. Finally, in its desire to support territorial development, Bordeaux Events makes it a priority to work with selected local contractors. 6

3 questions for Karine Santa-Maria, Director of Bordeaux Events What does the name "Bordeaux Events" mean to you? Bordeaux Events is a name that reflects our expertise and savoir-faire acquired over more than 20 years, and the momentum and growing appeal of Bordeaux. With this brand, we seek to position ourselves in a new territory of modern communication that speaks to our clients, whether they are in France or abroad. The logo represents the vibrancy of the events, venues, meetings, connections, visits. In our customer promise, we have brought our focus back to the "Bordeaux" destination, to the clients and their projects, rather than on the venues we manage. In a few words, what is Bordeaux Events development strategy? To tackle this extremely competitive market and establish Bordeaux as a top destination for hosting events and conferences, we have implemented an aggressive commercial strategy, which included recruiting 3 new employees. We are setting out to win new regional, national, but also international markets, with sales representatives specialized in their sectors. In order to develop this prospecting campaign, we will also continue to pursue membership with influential networks such as the direct selling association, Fédération de Vente Directe. We were the first in our sector to join. This allowed us to host the Fédération de Vente Directe Convention last May at the Convention Centre and meet the 150 members of this association, themselves organisers of their own events and conventions. Our offer will be based on creating products that provide turnkey solutions. The launch of our brand is supported by new communication tool (marketing media, brochures, fact sheets ) and a website focused on clients and the type of event they want to organise. To guide them in their choices, we present case studies and the "your project in 2 steps" feature, offering them the opportunity to get in contact quickly with our team. Following a consultation, the website design was entrusted to the agency INTERACTIVE, which also developed the Bordeaux Tourism and Conventions website for Bordeaux Métropole. This choice was based on the firm s professionalism, solid references and true customer orientation, and we saw that we could only benefit from this mutual choice in service provider, enabling us to envision future synergies between our entities. In another new development, Bordeaux Events will be on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter! What are your selling points for event organisers? One of our assets is undeniably the complementarity of our 4 venues, which benefit from choice locations: the Exhibition Centre and the Convention Centre are located in the privileged setting of Bordeaux Lac, the Cité Mondiale Convention Centre in the heart of the city and Hangar 14 facing the River Garonne. Yet we are much more than a venue rental service. On a daily basis, our 22 employees assist organisers from start to finish in each of their event projects, and at each major design phase they are attributed a unique contact person. By creating this close relationship, we seek to increase customer loyalty and satisfaction. And of course, our greatest asset remains the destination, Bordeaux! As shown by all the rankings that have put Bordeaux in the spotlight [the latest of which ranked it "the coolest city in France" (September 2015)!], today Bordeaux is seen as a welcoming destination and its growing appeal has a strong impact on our clients decisions. 7
