In 2012, the Singapore Airshow introduced a plethora of new show features which included a special focus on Land Defence and Unmanned Systems. STRATEGIC, HIGH-LEVEL CONFERENCES Singapore Airshow Aviation Leadership Summit (SAALS) is the only event of its kind in the industry that brings together high-level participants from regulators, private sector, the government and airline operators to address a wide range of hot topics from environment liberalisation and security challenges to salient strategic trends facing the region. Some of the stellar fleet of aviation stars displayed at the 2012 event include the Dreamliner, the Strike Eagle, the Lineage 1000 and the Piaggio Avanti II. PROCUREMENT NETWORKING FORUM The Procurement Networking Forum allows local and overseas suppliers to network with DSTA defence procurement principals and be updated on the latest organisation, focus areas and practices. AEROBATIC FLYING DISPLAYS & CUSTOMER DEMONSTRATION FLIGHTS One of the greatly anticipated highlights of the event is the breath-taking Aerobatic Flying Displays. At the 2012 event, Blair Aerosport from Australia showcased the remarkable power and speed of the Rebel 300 with adrenalin-pumping spins, rolls and loops. Visitors were also treated to the spectacular trail of military and commercial aircraft adorning the skies, including the Republic of Singapore Air Force s F-15SG and F-16C fighter jets, the Royal Malaysian Air Force s Smokey Bandits as well as the Royal Australian Air Force s Roulettes team s aerobatic stunts. Demonstration Flights were also organised for exhibitors to showcase their aircraft and products to potential clients and media. GREEN PAVILION The Green Pavilion highlights the industry s effort to use innovative technologies and solutions that balance best business practices and environmentally-friendly considerations. Deminars (seminars and demonstrations combined) were introduced at the 2012 event to provide the aviation community a platform to learn best practices and solutions in line with the industry s efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
