2 From the THRMoA Tumuaki Tēnā koutou katoa E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā mataawaka puta noa i te motu, a, puta noa i te ao, nau mai, haere mai. Ko Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa tēnei e mihi atu nei ki a kōutou kua anga mai ki tēnei pae tukutuku o mātou, me kii, o tātou katoa. On behalf of the Executive Committee for Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa/the Māori Law Society of New Zealand (THRMoA) we invite you to join us for the 2016 hui-ā-tau in Queenstown. Against the beautiful Queenstown background just as summer approaches, this year s Conference will be another event not to be missed. Our theme is, He aha te kai a te Rangatira? He kōrero, he kōrero, he kōrero with a focus on leadership in various settings. We are pleased to anounce our Aotea (Premier) Sponsor, Westpac. We are excited to have Westpac on board for three years. We will update members in coming months on the details of our relationship with Westpac. This year we have included a separate cross-examination workshop on Thursday for junior and intermediate lawyers. We recommend this for those with 2-6 years experience in litigation, including some witness action, and who haven t attended the full NZLS Week long Litigation Skills Programme. Those attending the workshop will obtain a further 5.5 CPD hours. The main Conference programme on Friday and Saturday offers over 10 CPD hours on a variety of topics covering those core areas where our practitioners practice and which are particularly relevant to Māori. This is another great opportunity for anyone working in all areas relevant to Māori to network, engage, be inspired, and gain valuable CPD hours in the process. As a not for profit organisation we have to acknowledge our sponsors who have made this Conference possible, in particular our Aotea Sponsor Westpac, our Toto Weka Sponsors Chapman Tripp and Deloitte and our new Inanga Sponsors the Institute of Professional Legal Studies and Vo2. This year s Conference is open to both members of THRMoA and nonmembers. We encourage you all to register early and secure your travel and accommodation to avoid missing out on this opportunity.
