The police station predates 1900 and is representative of typical 1880s-1920s civic buildings. Site contains remnants of a house built in It is one of few archaeological sites in the District. This area has the potential to contain subsurface remains of the early commercial centre of Maketu. Oldest school in the Waihi Beach area. Original war memorial for the Waihi Beach area.
