8 Previous Significant Projects 2018 Granite Hills Windfarm $75, Clare Solar Farm $1,000,000 Client: Akuo Energy Client: Fotowatio Renewable Ventures Granite Hills Wind Farm is located near Nimmitabel, NSW. It will comprise around 35 turbines, each with a nominal power of 3.45 MW. The project will represent a total clean energy capacity of MW - enough to power 77,211 homes and save 313,974 tons of CO2 per year. FRV is the developer of a 136MW solar farm located at Clare near Townsville in north Queensland. The initial stage 1 is 100MW. The Solar farm is being constructed by Downer as an EPC contract. SMEC is acting as FRV s Owners Engineer and the role includes the design review of EPC Contractor s designs, supervision during all stages of construction and assistance with regulatory and grid connection approvals. SMEC is conducting assessments of fauna habitats, mapping tree hollows, and surveying threatened biodiversity species such as owls and bats. SMEC is working with NSW OEH to assess and minimize ecological impacts Barcaldine Solar Farm $300,000 Client: Elecnor The Barcaldine Solar Farm is a 25 megawatt photovoltaic solar project located in the central western Queensland township of Barcaldine. The project has been developed over a number of years by Elecnor, with the assistance of SMEC as the Development Engineer. Elecnor engaged SMEC to undertake a range of roles for the project including flora and fauna survey, vegetation mapping and various Geotechnical works Murra Warra Windfarm $500,000 Client: I-cubed Icubed have engaged SMEC to perform geotechnical investigation on their Murra Warra windfarm in Victoria, including laboratory testing, specialist resistivity and thermal testing Moree Solar Farm $1,500,000 Client: Elecnor Abbot Point T0 EPC Project Management Support Services $2,000,000 Client: POSCO E&C Australia SMEC provided design and project management support services to POSCO E&C for the design, procure and construct contract for the development of Abbot Point Terminal 0 to support Adani's Carmichael Mine project. SMEC's services include technical due diligence, onshore civil engineering, materials handling engineering, offshore civil and structural engineering, construction related technical support and approvals and environment services. This project involves the design, installation and testing of 70 MW of single axis tracking photovoltaic (PV). Moree solar farm is the first in Australia to use mechanical trackers to continually orient its solar panels with the sun. It will deliver clean electricity, avoiding 95,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas pollution annually and save approximately 165,000 megalitres of clean drinking water. SMEC provided geotechnical investigations, detailed design and project management services. 08
9 North West Rail LInk - SVC $1,000,000 Gosford Passing Loops $8,000,000 Client: Impregilo/Salini JV Client: Downer EDI Works & Robson Civil Detailed design of the viaducts, bridges and associated civil works required for the North West Rail Link between Bella Vista and Cudgegong Road including: * viaducts and station platforms; * overbridges (3 in total) * drainage and civil works; * soil nail retaining walls; * mainline formation earthworks Detailed design of two new electrified passing loops approximately 2km long either side of the existing Up and Down Main between Gosford and Narrara including: * Structural design for six new rail bridge structures and 2.5km of retaining walls * Drainage, earthworks, flood modelling * Geotechnical investigations and analysis Sunshine Coast University Hospital Infrastructure Delivery $1,000,000 Client: Stockland The new Sunshine Coast University Hospital precinct will contain the University Hospital, Kawana Private Hospital, a mix of commercial and residential development and multimodal transport corridor (MMTC). SMEC was engaged as Principal Designer to undertake concept, preliminary, detail design, contract administration and construction surveillance for infrastructure delivery associated with the proposed transit precinct and surrounding residential and commercial development Brisbane Airport Corporation Hotel Precinct Infrastructure $500,000 Client: Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) BAC is constructing a 5 star hotel building, a star hotel building & a conference centre at Brisbane Airport & are required to provide infrastructure services to the development boundary &modification of Dryandra Rd. This is to allow for vehicle access to the hotel and a new pedestrian access from level 3 Multi-Level Car Park with a walkway to hotel boundary. SMEC was responsible for design & tender & construction documentation for all leadin infrastructure servicing the development site. Rail Revitalisation Electrification Project $400,000,000 Client: Department of Transport Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI) The scope of the Rail Revitalisation Electrification Project is to design the infrastructure required to introduce electric vehicles to service the existing Adelaide metropolitan passenger rail network (AMPRN). SMEC provided specialist overhead wiring systems design services including: provision of advice on scope, value-formoney and risk; review and comment on OHW standards, specifications and designs produced by the contractor; construction surveillance and acceptance. WestConnex Stage 1A $7,000,000 Client: Rizzani de Eccher Leighton Joint Venture The M4 Widening Stage 1A project comprises the first stage in the delivery of WestConnex. It includes widening and upgrading approximately 7.5 kilometres of the M4 Motorway generally between Pitt Street, Parramatta and Homebush Bay Drive, Homebush. SMEC is working with the Rizzani De Eccher and Leighton Contractors JV to deliver the major alignment, pavement and drainage/hydrology works as well as providing ITS, lighting, durability and other inputs for Stage 1A of the Westconnex scheme. 09
10 2014 Robinson Road Open Level Crosing Replacement Project $4,000, Queensland Curtis Liquid Natural Gas (QCLNG) $500,000 Client: Brisbane City Council Provision of resource, seconded as Authorities Engineer for the construction of the 540km long, 42" Export Pipelines (Gas Collection Header, Export and Narrows Crossing) of the QCLNG project, providing an oversight of all road use (under Road Infrastructure Agreements) road crossings (Pipeline and Fibre Optic Cable) and logistics by QGC's appointed EPC contractor MCJV. Brisbane City Council partnered with BMD Constructions and SMEC to form the Geebung Overpass (GO) Alliance to deliver this project, comprising the construction of a new road-over-rail overpass connecting Robinson Rd East & Robinson Rd West. A key achievement for the project was the integrating of urban and landscape design features into the project to enhance the appearance of the area and benefit the community. The project was delivered 3 months ahead of schedule Mitcham Rd and Rooks Rd Rail Grade Separation $500,000 Client: Boulderstone Tender design of the grade separation of Mitcham and Rooks roads including: - Realignment and construction of two new tracks to the south of the existing tracks within the existing rail corridor; and - Construction of a new Premium Station Regional Rail Link - WPB $2,000,000 Client: Leighton Contrators/Downer EDI Tender design for Regional Rail Link Work Package B in association with Leighton Contractors, Downer EDI & Mott MacDonald. SMEC's scope included: tender design management, civil works and structural bridge design, materials engineering, hydrology and drainage, geotechnical, environmental and landscape architectural design. SMEC also contributed to the track, overhead wiring and electrical HV/LV designs. Client: QGC 2013 Gawler Line Electrification Provision of Technical Services $100,000,000 Client: Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) As part of the Adelaide Metropolitan Passenger Rail Network upgrade (AMPRN) project, the Gawler line is to be electrified. SMEC were engaged to provide technical expertise and advice on behalf of DPTI in the review of contractor submissions and to highlight potential issues. Scope included: - Development of S&TR - Development of Maintenance contract - Review and update of existing OHWS system design - Review of Tender submissions - Preparation of technical reports 2011 Wyaralong Dam $5,000,000 Client: Queensland Water Infrastructure Wyaralong Dam is one of a number of projects commenced in SE Qld as a drought mitigation measure and to address the ongoing growth in the region. Located on Teviot Brook, east of Beaudesert, the dam will provide approx. 21,000 ML/pa of water for the region. SMEC was part of the Alliance delivering the project, providing geotechnical investigations, engineering design & documentation, environmental monitoring & development of specifications, dam safety & operations documentation. 10
