2 Arif R. Ghouse Airport Director Here's What's Happening... Paine Field Community Council Nominations Sought Snohomish County is requesting that individuals with an interest in Paine Field submit their name and nomination for representative positions on an Airport advisory board called the Paine Field Community Council. The Paine Field Community Council was formed in 1980 as a result of the Airport's Mediated Role Determination. A primary purpose of the Community Council is to review, assess, and make recommendations to the Airport Director and/or affected governmental entities with regard to the Airport, especially items impacting the spirit and letter of the Mediated Role Determination. The Paine Field Community Council includes ten voting members comprised of four representatives of neighborhoods, two pilots affiliated with Paine Field, two representatives of on-airport business providing aviation services at Paine Field, and two off-airport business representatives. Alternates for voting members are also appointed. In addition, ex-officio members represent agencies, jurisdictions and organizations affected by the Airport. The Community Council meets three times a year, reviews current issues relating to the Airport, and provides input to the Airport Director and Staff. Council members receive no compensation for their efforts. They are expected to provide effective liaison with their constituents. A member job description, application, and Community Council bylaws are available online at painefield.com. 7 The Trans World Airlines story plays out against a backdrop of intense entrepreneurship in the 1920s, fiercely competitive and deeply political 1930s and the crash that killed Notre Dame coach Knute Rockne. TWA encouraged design of, and became the lead customer for, airplanes like the DC-1 and DC-2, and pioneered high altitude flight with the first pressurized airliner, the Boeing 307. Wartime and dramatic corporate politics sidelined TWA's founders as Howard Hughes assumed control. Development of the Lockheed Constellation occurred during Hughes' tenure. Finally, learn about the end of the Hughes era and transformation of TWA to become the first US airline to operate an all-jet fleet. Barry Latter presents the fourth installment in Historic Flight's Airline History Series. Special guests at these presentations include members of TWA Clipped Wings, TWA Seniors Club, TWA Directors of Customer Service Alumni Association, and TWA Retired Pilots Association. When: Wednesday January 13 at 7:00 PM Saturday January 16 at 12:00 PM Where: Historic Flight Foundation On Saturday, special guest Captain Lyle D. Bobzin will be signing copies of his book, "Flight Around the World" which chronicles his 36 years as a pilot for TWA. For more information, contact Historic Flight Foundation at or experience managing leases and contracts, including lease negotiations and has worked with FBOs, general aviation, and business tenants at the various airports. While the Paine Field administrative assistant, Eckman assisted on several lease/tenant spreadsheets, including landing fee revenues and insurance compliance. She took a short sabbatical from working with the Airport to raise her young family, but is excited to be back. Welcome back Jennifer! Three Years to Restore Three Days to Reassemble A Historic Flight Event In 2015, HFF's Supermarine Spitfire appeared in eleven English events commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. On December 31st, a cargo container containing the Spitfire arrived at the Port of Tacoma. It took three years to restore this aircraft prior to its initial delivery in 2010, but it will require a mere three days to reassemble and test fly her early in Visit HFF between January 10th and 12th to witness our Duxford-based crew "have a go at making her right."

Paine Field Open House The Snohomish County Airport staff conducts regular audits of its lease files for compliance. This month the focus of the audit will be tenants' compliance with the insurance requirements. The most common insurance compliance discrepancies are: Current insurance certificate and endorsements are not on file with the Airport. The minimum limits are not met and the types of insurance are incorrect. The Additional Insured Endorsement is not included or the wording on it is incorrect. The correct wording is "The County, its officers, officials, employees and agents are to be covered as additional insured" Your insurance requirements may vary from the current policy based on when the lease was signed or the type of business conducted. Check your lease or the Minimum Standards for current limits: Standards. If you have questions about your lease insurance, please contact Jennifer Eckman at Jennifer.eckman@snoco.org
