2 The Meaning of World Heritage Site Definition by UNESCO A site of outstanding value for the entire world
3 The Mission of The Zanzibar Stone Town Heritage Society is to Promote and Protect the Conservation of the Zanzibar Stone Town; Raise Awareness, Offer Technical Support for Maintenance and Training, Build Partnerships and Lobby, nationally and internationally.
4 Dira: Kuwa na Mji Mkongwe uliohifadhiwa vyema wenye urithi hai. Kuendeleza hifadhi ya urithi wa Mji Mkongwe na ustawi wa mazingira na utamaduni wa wakaazi wake.
5 Malengo Makuu ya Jumuiya Kujenga na kuongeza muamko juu ya urithi wa Mji Mkongwe wa Zanzibar na maswala ya Uhifadhi na yanayohusiana nayo. Kutetea utunzaji na uimarishaji endelevu wa mazingira yaliopo. Kushirikiana na kujenga ubia baina ya wadau wote wenye maslahi na Mji Mkongwe. Kutetea sera bora, sheria na maamuzi. yanayohusiana na Mji Mkongwe yenye misingi ya kuendeleza maelewano ya wadau wote.
6 Malengo Makuu ya Jumuiya (cont ) Kubuni shughuli ambazo zitaendeleza Utamaduni wa Uhifadhi wa Urithi huu wa Mji Mkongwe Kukusanya na kutoa taarifa na kusaidia tafiti zinazohusiana na Mji Mkongwe kimataifa. Kuendeleza na kuratibu mafunzo na huduma za elimu juu ya urithi na maswala ya Uhifadhi kwa ajili ya ustawi wa wakaazi wa Mji Mkongwe. Kushirikiana na taasisi nyengine na watu binafsi katika ngazi ya jamii, taifa na kimataifa. Kuongeza idadi ya Wanachama wa Jumuiya hususan wale wenye uchungu wa Urithi wetu huu.

(More than one answer was possible) - Answers and Reasons were: - Drop in Stone Town Cleanliness & Poor Sewerage Systems - Overcrowding & Traffic Increase via the Port Route - Under resourced & Efficiency of Institutions & Govt. Authorities directly related in regulating the Stone Town conservation and Development; - Knowledge of craftsmen on Stone Town Infrastructure and Maintenance of Old buildings -The number of Hotels and Tourists increase versus infrastructure available to accommodate the volume.

12 Greatest Dangers to Zanzibar Stone Town s Existence (Ref: Stone Town Survey 2012) Weather, Unmanaged and Unregulated Traffic Volume and Increase of Hotels Tourism Visitors Insufficient Incentives for Rehabilitation Poor Rubbish and Garbage Collection Lack of Public Awareness of the Heritage Theft of the doors and Collapsing buildings Lack of Political will and Budget allocation to maintain and further develop the Stone Town Lack of traditional materials to repair houses
