Business Report Unfortunately, we had to start our meeting informing the membership of the death of our member and friend, Chuck Van Cor. Chuck had been killed in a truck rollover accident the weekend previous to our meeting. Chuck was only 40 years young and leaves behind his wife and twin sons. A master ship modeler, he will be missed by all of us and the modeling community. I am proud to report that over a dozen members of our club made it to his services. Chuck Converse will man the Club White Elephant table again this year. This table is for club members to sell items they no longer want at good prices. See Chuck for how to get set up with him. The club gets ten percent of your take. There is a limit on how many kits you can put out there, so don t try to use this to sell off your entire collections instead of paying for your own table! For those taking part, leave Chuck a sheet listing your kits and prices. Put price tags on your items along with your initials to make it easy for him to keep track of things. This year we have decided to have a super raffle in conjunction with our regular raffle at Granitecon. Other clubs have had success with them. The club will purchase a few really nice kits and sell tickets for $2 each or 3 for $5. Past president Fausto Hamden graciously sent us a Grex airbush for this raffle. He was going to come as a vendor, but his job would not give him the time off. Hopefully things at his work will ease up for next year and he will be able to come visit. A twist we will be using is that the customer will get to choose which item he is taking a chance on instead of the tickets going into one bucket. Now for some good news. We have sold all of our trophy packs and vendor tables! I have been in contact with the rest of the E-Board and everything is a big GO for Granitecon this Sunday. Remember, be at the Nashua Elks Club by 7:30 AM for setup!! Last year we had vendors helping set up because a lot of members slept in. GSMC members who help set up and work the show get their first five entries for free, as has been our custom in the past. After we are set up, members are also requested to lend the vendors a hand

2 getting their wares in. Everyone will be on duty as security all day. After the little problem we had with a damaged model, members are asked to especially keep an eye out for loose clothing (the cause of last year s damage incident) near the display tables. Also remember to bring in unwanted models and items for the raffle table. Books and decals are great. Just be sure the kits are complete! Bring them to Pete at the Emcee s table. I understand Mac has received some nice items for the raffle from some of the companies he contacted about the show. As a demo last month, Mac, Keith, and I brought in some after-market items to show some of the things which are available in the market place to spruce up and add detail to your models. Mac and Keith showed armor accessories, while I represented the aircraft modeler with canopies, propellers, masking implements, and cockpit sets. A large group of members made it to the Patcon contest in September. They had a great time, and Team Green did well in the awards count. Jody Kelm took a couple of firsts, and Mac had some firsts and two thirds. Mac even took Best of Show. Those who went reported models on the tables, and no major judging problems. At the end of the business portion of the meeting, Mac put out the last of Dennis Sliney s stash for members to look over and take if they could use them. Whatever was left was going into the Granitecon Raffle. Four models returned for the pass the trash stash contest. The winner of the $25 Hobby Emporium gift certificate was Chuck Converse with his Promodeler P-39Q. This month brings nominations for club officers for next year. Time to volunteer??
