8 CHALLENGE-BY-CHOICE WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR ADVENTURE WALK Everyone starts out at Camp For Keeps (Fort York) making tracks along our clearly marked route, designed for both little feet and big feet alike, stopping at designated Campsites along the way. The route and Campsites are wheelchair assessible. These Campsites, every few kilometers along the route, is where your adventure is set to unfold. Each Campsite - packed with our wonderful Camp Crew - brings its own unique brand of fun, with camp games, and songs planned for Campers 0-99 years young. Here, you ll have the opportunity to participate in a variety of themed activities and earn badges to mark all that you accomplished - from learning new skills to challenging yourself to go further than you ever thought possible! And while we don t want spoil all of the surprises, Campsites you ll get to experience on event day: CAMP MESSY HANDS CAMP RISING STAR CAMP SPLISH SPLASH - #4 CAMP NATURE NUT CAMP LOOPITY LOOP CAMP FEEL GOOD CAMP WILDERNESS WONDERS Each Campsite will also include: Snacks Water (don t forget your refillable water bottles!) Rest areas and washrooms Baby-changing stations Stroller Parking CHALLENGE-BY-CHOICE- 6
9 CHALLENGE-BY-CHOICE TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR OWN ADVENTURE The Canaccord Genuity Great Camp Adventure allows you to take charge of your day. It s a little thing we like to call challenge-by-choice. This means that on this adventure walk through the streets and parks of Toronto, Campers can travel as far as they can go, all the way up to 20 km. It s entirely up to you. But that doesn t mean you can t challenge yourself to do more. Think you can only go 5 km? Then aim for 7km! It s not a race. There s no running allowed on the route. You ll walk, hike or stroll along at your own pace, taking yourself as far as you decide to go on your incredible journey. Watch for the signs... However, we don t want you missing out on any of the fun. That s why Campers who decide that they ve taken as many steps as they can are encouraged to take the bus to the next Campsite. We want everyone to take part in all the fun activities and collect all their badges before heading back to Camp For Keeps! Have a stroller or wagon? No problem! While you are on the bus to your next Campsite, a stroller transport will be coming along to make sure your stroller or wagon gets there ahead of you and is parked in Stroller Parking at the next Campsite. CAMP BUSES If your feet get a little too tired to go one more step, don t worry - buses will be readily accessible to take you where you need to go. Just look for these signs posted throughout the route: 7
10 FUNDRAISING TIPS N TRICKS TO GET YOU THERE As part of the Canaccord Genuity Great Camp Adventure, you re doing something amazing: bringing the future of kids health to the forefront by supporting SickKids. That s right! Your FUNdraising dollars are helping us change kids health for keeps, with donations going directly to The Possibilities Fund at SickKids. This fund supports the most urgent needs at the hospital, with every dollar you raise making all the more difference for sick children. Already met your FUNdraising goal? Allow us to say Campgratulations on reaching your goal - but keep going! The more FUNds you raise, the more lives can be changed. Log in at campforkeeps.com to increase your FUNdraising goal on your personal page and see just how far you can go! For the Campers still working towards their goals, don t worry we are here to support you. We want everyone to join us for the adventure on September 28th. Call or us with any questions or concerns. That doesn t mean you shouldn t still keep at it! Your personal pages will be up and running until November 30th so you can keep on collecting donations. We know you re up for the challenge - and we re here to help and cheer you on. Below you ll find four useful pointers to help you in your FUNdraising efforts. Also, be sure to give your Camp Counsellor a shout if you need any more tips n tricks or to let us know about any dietary needs. They re here to help! counsellor@campforkeeps.com PHONE KEEPS ( ) TIP ONE: SET A GOOD EXAMPLE If you haven t already, donate to your own campaign. It lets people know you re serious about changing kids health for keeps - plus it sets the bar for any forthcoming donations. TIP TWO: GET PERSONAL Let people know why supporting SickKids is important to you. The more you share your connection to the cause - if you have your own SickKids story - the more connected donors will feel. TIP THREE: ASK ONCE, AND ASK AGAIN Don t get discouraged if you don t get a reply right away. People tend to be busy and might have missed your ask the first time around. Ask again and let them know that the event is just around the corner. TIP FOUR: GET CREATIVE AND EVEN A BIT SILLY Camp is about getting out of your comfort zone. Engage people in your campaign by offering to complete the adventure walk in a costume if you meet your goal, for example. Creativity is all a part of the fun! FUNdraising - 8
