2 TAKE THE TRAM TO THE NET WINTER WONDERLAND The ever-popular Winter Wonderland returns to the city s Old Market Square for the 2016 festive period and will be proudly sponsored by NET in association with Nottingham City Council. Open from Saturday 19 November and running until Sunday 8 January, the NET Winter Wonderland will feature a new and improved ice rink along with a brand new alpine ski lodge boot room. Following in the footsteps of world famous ice bars in Sweden and Finland, the Winter Wonderland will also bring an ice bar experience to the heart of Nottingham. Visitors will be able to enjoy a drink in freezing temperatures, all while wrapped up warm in a thermal coat. As with previous years there will be plenty of lights and decorations, as well as the traditional festive market which will offer a broad range of gifts and food and drink. The big Christmas Lights Switch On is also set to take place in Old Market Square on Thursday, November 24 and will feature exciting special guests. Stephanie Moss-Pearce, Assistant Marketing Manager at NET, explained: The Winter Wonderland is one of the most anticipated events on the city s annual calendar, attracting thousands of people to Nottingham each year and we re delighted to help support it alongside the City Council. With travel offers, free park & ride sites, cross-city services from every seven minutes and a tram stop directly on the event s doorstep, our network provides the best way of beating the traffic and getting to Old Market Square to join in the festivities.

3 AWARD WIN FOR NOTTINGHAM TRAM NETWORK Nottingham s tram network have been named as Most Improved System at a prestigious industry award ceremony. The high profile 2016 Global Light Rail Awards event in London saw over 200 of the industry s most important figures gather to celebrate the achievements in light rail during the past 12 months. Judges in the Most Improved System category were impressed that within a few months of more than doubling the size of the network last August, NET had returned to the hugely impressive performance levels of 98-99%. NET s General Manager, Paul Robinson, said: This is fantastic news and a real boost to everyone who works hard, day in-day out, to ensure NET provides the best service it possibly can to thousands of happy customers. Our key ambition had always been to ensure the transition to a new, greatly expanded network was seamless and that customer confidence and satisfaction remained high. In addition to being named Most Improved System, NET was also scored as highly commended in Team of the Year category. The glittering award ceremony is now in its eleventh year and continues help celebrate innovation and excellence within the light rail sector.
