1 The Word triumphs at national RICS awards The Word, National Centre for the Written Word, has been judged as one of the country s best buildings after winning the Community Benefit category at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Awards Grand Final. The Word was shortlisted in three categories Community Benefit, Design Through Innovation and Tourism & Leisure in addition to winning the overall Project of The Year at the RICS North East Awards in April. 3 Internationally renowned sculptor, Andy Scott, has brought his world-class artwork to Aberdeen, in the shape of a major new project at the prestigious 107 million Marischal Square development. Scott works internationally from his studio workshop where he creates prominent public artworks for private, corporate and civic clients. The new work will form a key element of the open to the public sections of the development and will be on display in the enclosed atrium space of 1MSq. 4 Dartford Borough Council has appointed Muse Developments as its development partner to lead the 75 million regeneration of the town s Westgate area. The mixed-use development incorporates a six-screen cinema at the heart of a new social neighbourhood with 37,250 sq ft of restaurant and bar space. The scheme will see the creation of a new public square, 109-bed hotel, multi-storey car park and 140 new homes. 5 Work has now started on site to build three high-quality industrial units, totalling 100,000 sq ft, at Muse Developments flagship Logic Leeds site. The go-ahead follows the sale of the units by Muse to Leeds City Council for an undisclosed sum. The three units, which are 33,000 sq ft, 30,000 sq ft and 37,000 sq ft respectively, are scheduled to be completed and ready for occupation by late Spring next year.
