1 Dear Friends Newsletter August 2014 Been a while innit?! Good to meet so many friends at Blues and Bikes Weekend up at Cabourne Parva. Special thanks to Balding Bloke for the sound and for allowing me twist his arm at two weeks notice to do main stage, also for a great DVD of our gig. Cheers mate, you pulled us out of the brown and steamy with great aplomb. We were joined by a most wonderful Harpman in Harmonica Dave who just lifted the roof. Anytime, anywhere buddy. I m sure there s sommat on YouTube by now. Much thanks to Andy Nisbet (The GrandAndy of Rock) for the crash.. Special thanks to Fingers & Hips McGee for support, requests and libations. Wherever we are, you fit in. How They Turn is now your song too and we are chuffed to little mint balls, that it will on KrossBoarder Rekord s Kompilation Vol 2 CD for general release at the end of September. 2 Spirit Of The Marsh, Beltane Celebrations. A privilage to have been part of it. Although a bitter sweet occasion, Anna s essence was all around us. This was indeed a chance to meet up with folk, chew the fat, chill the chill, drink the drink and recharge the batteries. We were joined, on stage, by a superb Flutist, who put Roland Kirk in the shade. Don t know his name, where he comes from or anyfink. Would like to though, so any clues let me know. No pics or recordings (that we know of). Contributions gratefully accepted. Congrats and bravery award go to Andy Nisbet who made his debut as a singer and front man with Whiskey Before Breakfast. I did capture most of the set on video but it is up to Andy as to which bits he wishes to release. We have a new permanent member of the band called Nelson, in honour of The Lord Nelson in Morton, Lincs who kindly donated him. He also gets his own sound check at gigs and features on Cheese

4 A great weekend and a fantastic gig. More mud than you can slide a welly on. Max Plank did not let us down and his amp sounded wonderful, in spite of what one grumpy old toad of a bass guitar owner says.

6 Voted best Blues CD of January 2013 We re on Vol 2 Global release planned for the end of September 2014 Taken a long time but special thanks to Alan Pearce and Blues Matters for makin it happen N ew ventures running alongside DR. A s R&G Old Dog Jackson (a.k.a. Dr. A) will be doing som e solo gigs around the country.

7 Not wishing to sound like a Jedi Master, but there is another Dog Jackson, down in cider land. We propose to shake The West Country up for a couple of weeks in September. 8 And so to Festivals for 2014 Thorpeness Firework Festival Friday 22 nd August First Big Bang at 9.00pm. Dr. A s R&G s, First Big Twang at 9.30/45pm (ish). The Dolphin Inn, Peace Place, Thorpeness, Leiston, Suffolk IP16 4NA This is one of the country s major Firework Festivals AND IT S FREE!! It is a great honour to have played this Great Venue & Festival for the last 5 years. Twice with Blues Consortium and three times with Rhythm & Grooves.
