First Essex Buses has opted to make this change to improve the overall performance these services provide. All students must have in their possession a valid bus pass to board their designated school bus. The bus pass will either be mobile ticket (mticket) or paper, depending on your ticket choice. If a student does not carry a valid bus ticket they will be asked to pay the on-bus daily cash fare. PAYMENT OPTIONS - the payment structure has changed - see the Key Dates Section. NEW SUBSCRIPTION MTICKET - We have introduced a new convenient way to pay monthly for your AES school services bus ticket. Sign up for a AES service subscription ticket and every month your nominated passenger, will receive a ticket on their mobile phone (via our mtickets app). NO MORE FORMS - This pamphlet is all you need for the year ahead. All payment deadlines have been included for the academic year. You will therefore no longer need to fill out endless forms and receive reminders.

4 TICKET PAYMENT OPTIONS The following tickets options are available for the academic year The daily fare is 7.00 per day. All prices exclude staff inset day, bank holidays, half-term break and school holidays. Physical Term time tickets i.e. Autumn, Spring, Summer, will be posted to the nominated home address automatically throughout the academic year on receipt of payment. If a student travels without a bus pass they will be asked to pay, with cash, the on-bus fare. ANNUAL 1 payment to be paid prior to the start of the academic year. TERM 3 payments across the academic year - to be paid prior to the start of each academic term. HALF-TERM 6 payments to be paid prior to the start of each half-term. SUBSCRIPTION mticket (DIRECT DEBIT) Sign up to and every month, your nominated passenger will receive their AES School Services ticket straight to their mobile phone (via our mtickets App). After an initial card payment, there will be 10 Direct Debit payments commencing at the start of October with the final payment taken at the start of July. 6 FAQS For full FAQS regarding the AES subscription ticket option please visit: Regarding the Annual/Term/Half-term ticket options: What ticket is suitable for Year 11 & 13 students? During the latter half of the Summer Term Year 11 & 13 students are undertaking study leave and exams and will not require regular travel. The half term ticket is ideal for year 11 & 13 student travel as the 6th payment can be opted out of. Instead students can pay on bus with cash when intermittently traveling. Please be advised that on-bus fares do not have the AES student discount applied. If the school bus ticket is lost or damaged can a replacement be purchased? You are responsible for ensuring that your child has a valid bus pass, or else your child will be asked to pay the prevailing cash fare to the driver. Remember that the ticket is NOT valid unless it includes a photo card with a photograph inserted in the appropriate place. If a pass is lost or damaged it will need to be replaced. Replacement tickets/photo cards to replace lost/stolen tickets can be obtained. A administration fee will be charged. To pay by debit/credit card please phone our Chelmsford Travel Shop on / Your replacement ticket will then be sent to you. We regret we cannot refund fares paid whilst awaiting a replacement ticket, but we do process replacement requests as a priority. Do the bus timetables accommodate early/late school closures? Yes, the morning and afternoon journeys may depart later or earlier to accommodate either later school start times or earlier school finishing times. Due to the split start times for the different year groups, the & will be operating four hours later than normal on the first day of term Wednesday 5th September 2018 and so it will be necessary for Years 7 and 12 to make alternative arrangements to get to school on that morning. Please contact Anglo European School directly for confirmation of year group start times. We will be operating the normal afternoon service and so can transport all children home. Unfortunately, there is no discount for one-way travel and so the full cost is still payable for that day. FAQS What ticket is suitable for an Exchange Student? An Exchange Student can travel on the AES bus services. They will need to purchase a single or return ticket on the bus. Please be advised that on-bus fares do not have the AES student discount applied. What are the on-bus fares without the AES discount? Under 16 s 7.00 Single Return Over 16 s 8.00 Single Return Which payment option is the cost effective for multiple children travelling the bus? By choosing the monthly subscription ticket you can save up to a year vs. buying a paper ticket from the Transport for Education team. Please be advised that each child will need to have our mtickets account on their own mobile phone, at the time of purchase. You cannot have multiple AES School Service tickets on one phone for practical reasons i.e. if a child is off sick. What are the benefits with the new tickets? All tickets are classed as ALL ESSEX. This not only allows travel on the & bus services but all First Essex Services [except our airport services X10 & X30 and park & ride services]. The tickets are also valid for travel at the weekend at no additional charge. Other services that may prove useful, is our 351 service between Chelmsford Brentwood via Ingatestone and the 32/46 services between Chelmsford. Is there financial assistance for low income families? Parents can apply to Essex County Council for subsidised travel to the nearest available school, for their home address, if they meet the qualifying distance living away from that school.
