4 About Mosaic The Mosaic Company is the world's leading producer of concentrated phosphate and potash crop nutrients as well as a single source global supplier for phosphates, potash, nitrogen fertilizers and feed ingredients for the agriculture industry. Mosaic Phosphate has over 21 sites in Florida. 4

5 Why does Mosaic reclaim land? Since 1975, the State of Florida requires the phosphate industry to return every acre it mines back to productive use through a process called mine reclamation. Mined lands have been successfully reclaimed into valuable wetlands, agricultural land, wildlife habitats, parks and neighborhoods. 5

6 Today, the land reclamation planning process begins before any phosphate mining. To be approved, these plans must provide very detailed information on specific aspects like wildlife management, vegetative cover and species, topography, watersheds and land use. 6 The reclamation team then designs functioning ecosystems that fully comply with current local, state and national regulatory agencies.

8 Agriculture on Reclaimed Land Along with providing essential crop nutrients to farmers across America, Mosaic farms its own citrus groves. We currently have approximately 6,000 acres of citrus in production, and 500 of those acres are on reclaimed land in Polk County. In fact, many thousands of acres of reclaimed land are now used for agricultural purposes. In addition to grazing pasture, reclaimed land is used for row crops, sod farms and tree farms.

9 From Mining to Reclaimed There is approximately 16 sites mined from the 1950s through 2004 that are now outstanding local and state parks in Polk, Hillsborough, Hardee and Manatee counties. Phosphate companies have partnered with local and state governments for decades to create unique public assets and amenities in our Central Florida communities.

11 Bunker Hill Community Park & Fire Station This 75-acre park was mined in 2004, Reclaimed and built by The Mosaic Company and deeded to Manatee County in 2011 Bunker Hill Community Park feature a baseball field, soccer field, playground, picnic area, a one-mile shell hiking trail, a canoe launch and fishing dock To include a 8,785-square-foot fire station adjacent to the park

12 Hardee Lakes Park is a 1,260-acre site, opened to the public in 2001 after being reclaimed by Mosaic and donated to Hardee County for public use. Its four lakes are managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

13 Streamsong Resort and Golf Course Streamsong is 16,000 acres of formerly mined phosphate land in Central Florida. Mosaic as transformed this property to maximize the natural attributes of the land. Taking advantage of the hills, dunes, contours and lakes.
