1 VOLUME 7, ISSUE 15 Finance News Flash New Vendor Pay System The City s Finance Department has implemented the use of Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to pay vendors. This process is easy and allows vendors to receive payment in a shorter amount of time and in a more secure manner. Proposed 2018 City s Budget The City s Fiscal Year 2018 Proposed Budget is now available on the City s Website: On June 14 th, Carole Shalala was named the 2017 Titusville Community Service Award recipient at a ceremony held in conjunction with the City s annual Flag Day Celebration. 2 On a bright, hot, and sunny Friday afternoon the City of Titusville s Community Development Department became the first group to participate in the Adopt-a-Trail program. Marching east from Canaveral Avenue, the Department picked up a total of 8 bags of trash and 2 bags of recyclable goods along Main Street. The Adopt-a-Trail program allows businesses, clubs, and other organizations to adopt a half-mile stretch of the new multi-use trail running from the Brevard-Volusia County line through downtown Titusville and be responsible for picking up litter throughout the year. When asked why the group decided to adopt a segment of the trail, their spokesperson had this to say: We had to work off the donuts somehow.. WORKING OFF THE DONUTS

The names for the fourteen month old Belgian Malinois were revealed on July 14 th 2017 at the Friday Nite Live Street Party Event in historic downtown Titusville. Titusville Police Officers collected gently worn boots and shoes and donated them to the National Veteran Homeless Support (NVHS) to distribute to local veterans in need. George Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of NVHS, accepted the boots on Friday July 14 th 2017 at the Titusville Police Department.

5 A special group of young adults stopped by Titusville Police Headquarters for a tour and the opportunity to meet officers and ask questions about law enforcement. Titusville Police Officer Francis Santiago met with young ladies attending the Woman s Center Summer Camp and held a fun Q and A session. They discussed many topics including internet and social media safety and bullying. Ms. Margret and the children at Wee Care child care enjoyed a special demonstration from the Titusville Police K9 Unit. Caregivers and kids also had the opportunity meet Scooby and Chase, the newest members of the K9 team.

6 On July 10 th several city employees selected from various departments gathered at Fire Station 13 for a photo op. This picture will be posted on the Employee Bulletin Boards throughout the City and used for upcoming marketing campaigns. On Monday, July 24, Engine 10 s crew consisting of Acting Lieutenant David Neeld, Acting Driver/Operator Stephen Hartselle and Firefighter Jelani Mendiola, visited Good Shepherd Learning Center. The crew took the children on a tour of the engine and Firefighter Mendiola donned the bunker gear. Approximately 30 kids were fitted for new bike helmets. Engine 11 s crew consisting of Lieutenant Brook Smith, Driver/Operator Andrew Johnson and Firefighter s Jelani Mendiola and Roman Lane displayed the Engine, let the kids sit in the driver s seat and gave out junior fire helmets.
