4 Scenary & Attractions Scenery & Attractions Doagh Famine Village & Buncrana Tuesday: 10 July & 14 August Situated on the Innishowen Peninsula lies the Doagh Famine Village. Through a large selection of life size attractions and a guided history tour we learn the story of a family and community that has lived on the edge surviving from the Famine of the 1840s to the present time. Afterwards we journey south to the seaside town Buncrana where we spend a couple of hours. We depart after dinner time for our return journey to Belfast. 5 Scenary & Attractions Rosapenna & Sheephaven Bay Russborough House & Parklands Wednesday: 18 July, 1 August & 22 August The Atlantic Drive is a short but a very spectacular and dramatic scenic drive though narrow looped roads running alongside Sheephaven Bay and through Rosapenna, and round the Rosguill Peninsula, which starts and finishes at Downings. On the way to Donegal we break the journey in the Maiden City, with stops in Milford and Letterkenny. With its mansion and centuries of history there is a charming walled garden with striking terraces, fine statuary and varied trees all linked by carefully designed walks and set in the magnificent surroundings of the Wicklow Mountains. There are stops in each direction to break the journey to and from Co Wicklow. There is a parkland walk with magnificent views of the house and a 20,000 sq. feet head high Beech hedge Maze which is popular with all ages. The National Stud, on the same site, is home to some of Ireland s finest thoroughbreds and includes the Irish Horse Museum. Florence Court, Belleek Pottery & Enniskillen Thursday: 19 July & 9 August We start the day with a visit to Florence Court. This 18th century property enjoys a peaceful setting in west Fermanagh, with a dramatic backdrop of mountains and forests. There are glorious walks to enjoy, as well as fine vistas and play areas. Next we make a short visit to Belleek Pottery where in its museum you step back in time. We follow the shore of Lower Lough Erne before arriving in Enniskillen where we have a short stop before travelling directly back to Belfast. 6 Scenary & Attractions Glenelly Valley & Springhill House Tuesday: 24 July After some free time to shop or relax and have lunch in Omagh, we drive through the breathtakingly scenic Glenelly Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty, in the Sperrin Mountains and finish the afternoon by visiting the charming 17th century Plantation home of Springhill House where, as well as a guided tour, you will discover a stunning rose garden and the renowned Costume Museum. Carlingford & the Mournes Tuesday: 17 July & Wednesday: 8 August This morning we travel round the Cooley Peninsula to the charming village of Carlingford, a hub of heritage and folklore on the shores of Carlingford Lough. We will pass Spelga Dam and later break our journey through the Kingdom of Mourne at Silent Valley with its peaceful reservoir. We finish this relaxing day in the seaside resort of Newcastle where almost all outdoor interests are catered for. Some 400 animals live in a safe environment where education and conservation combine for an exciting and unforgettable experience! There is an animal zone with meerkats, Ireland s first herd of American bison, tigers, emus etc. and a good choice of restaurants to complete a fantastic day out. Enniskillen & Marble Arch Caves Monday: 23 July & 20 August On this tour we spend some time in Enniskillen before travelling to our main attraction, the Marble Arch Caves. We have a guided tour both by boat and on foot of the most spectacular parts of this hidden underworld, its passages lit to reveal gigantic stalactites, translucent mineral veils and cascades of calcite. We then make our way home with a short stop again in Enniskillen.
