2 FASCINATING VIEW OF THREE COUNTRIES FROM THE HEART OF THE DOBRATSCH The Villach Alpine Road is one of the panoramic roads in southern Austria with the most stunning views. Grandiose vistas of the fascinating karst mountains and to the neighboring countries of Slovenia and Italy are offered over a length of approx kilometers from Villach-Möltschach to the Rosstratte at an altitude of 1,732 meters above sea level. The Dobratsch is Carinthia s oldest nature reserve with a speciose fauna and flora. MOUNTAINS, FLOWERS, BIRDS Breathtaking observation platforms, mountain inns, lodges, panoramic rest stops and themed playgrounds line the scenic road. The best vantage points can be found at the Dreiländerblick (overlooking three countries) at an altitude of 1,307 meters above sea level and from the Red Wall observation platform (Parking Lot 6). The Villach Alpe alpine garden (1,483 m) featuring nearly 800 alpine plants is an absolute must for flower lovers. The Rulers of the Skies Bird Life in the Dobratsch Nature Park exhibition at the Aichinger Lodge (Parking Lot 8) deals with the extraordinary diversity of bird life indigenous to the region. IMPRESSIONS AT THE PEAK AND SHORT HIKES On Rosstratte the end of the road for vehicles a geology trail entitled From the Ocean to the Mountain invites visitors on a journey through time. Part of a former reef and a lagoon with a variety of corals, seashells and conches can be admired along the trail. Hikers will find a number of marked trails of various lengths. After only about a 20 minute walk along the panoramic summit path, in the morning you can often observe chamois in the wild from the the newly constructed chamois- and mountain-view platform.

Nearly 800 alpine plants from three climactic zones thrive on 10,000 square meters of ground. One of the garden s special features is that nearly half of the plants are in their original locations, making it a true nature garden. Separate admission. P8 Aichinger Lodge Restaurant (1,650 m) The exhibition Rulers of the skies the bird life of Dobratsch nature park includes numerous interactive stations at the Aichinger lodge dedicated to regional birds and provides valuable information about Dobratsch nature park. 5 THE HIGHLIGHT OF A TRIP ON THE VILLACH ALPINE ROAD: The wonders of nature in the heart of the Dobratsch with grandiose views of the largest rockslide zone in the eastern Alps on the southern flank of the Dobratsch, created by two tremendous earthquakes. The Red Wall observation platform with a magnificent view of the Karawanken and Julian Alps (Parking Lot 6). Observation station Sun trails a brand new experience for visitors on the Rosstratte: a work of art made of stone monoliths, a Nebra sky disk and a sundial, where you can tell the season, month, day and hour by reading the sun (Parking Lot 11). The ornithological distinctions include the flight of 5,000 honey buzzards at the end of August. Rulers of the Skies exhibition at the Aichinger Lodge.
