2 1022 first mentioned In ancient times, the 1,200-metre-high Seefelder Sattel was a sparsely populated area of Alpine moorland. As early as the second century A.D. the bridle path over the pass became part of the Roman road leading from Bolzano and Innsbruck to Augsburg. Over the centuries, the name of the settlement on the plateau has evolved from Sevelt, which was first recorded in 1022, to Seefeld, as it is known today.
