Currency EURO is the official currency in Finland. Credit cards are accepted almost in almost every shop and taxis accept card as well. Most popular cards are Visa & MasterCard. Transfers from the airport to the hotel The Helsinki-Vantaa airport is located around 40 minutes from Helsinki city center where the event takes place. For transfers from the airport to city center we will use both public transport and car service (both free of charge). We will have one arrival desk at the airport and it is located in the ARRIVAL LOBBY 2A.

5 When your flight has arrived, find your way to the arrival desk, where you will get your public transportation tickets / car service. Transfers from the hotel to the airport No transportation is arranged, but we have limited number of public transportation cards available at the Presidentti hotel lobby in the morning of 30 June. If your flight is early, you should order a taxi beforehand. You can do that easily at the hotel reception. Remember to share rides so you get it cheaper! All taxis in Finland always go by the meter. The trip from the city center to the airport costs around EUR depending on the traffic and number of people onboard. You can pay the taxi with a credit card. Transfers during the event During the EEC, most of the locations are within walking distance from each other. For the award dinner transfer we have combined it with a short city tour, so you will see the main attractions of Helsinki. The event hotels are located right in the heart of Helsinki, so if you want to explore more of the sights, you can just have a walk! You will have a map of Helsinki in your welcoming bag. Students will be accommodated at the Original Sokos Hotel Presidentti and adults at Solo Sokos Hotel Torni. Both hotels are located right in the heart of Helsinki and are located 7 minutes walk from each other. Presidentti hotel has its own sauna and pool department and Torni is the tallest building in the city center with a rooftop bar and terrace. Students will be placed in double and triple rooms (based on the wishes), adults in single rooms. The event organizing team decides on the rooming list. We try to place students from the same country together in one room as far as possible, but this is subject to the number of students per country. Any additional costs like phone calls, private drinks etc. will be at your own charge. 6 The official registration desk is located in the lobby of Original Sokos Hotel Presidentti. Registration desk is open on 27 June from 14:00 to 00:00 and on the 28 from 09:00 to 16:00. If you are arriving very late on the 27 June, you can do the registration in the morning of 28. There is free Wi-Fi internet connection available in the both hotels. Instructions regarding connection will be delivered by the hotel staff. Wi-Fi is also available at the Shopping Center Kamppi. 7 Main jury The main jury consists seven members. Main evaluation is be based on value each start-up is creating and its potential to grow. In the competition for the Enterprise of the Year, there are three official stages: 1. Start-up Impact Report See the Impact Start-up Report guidelines in PDF here ( and criteria here ( 2. Pitch & Jury Interview See Pitch and Interview guidelines and criteria in PDF here ( 3. On-Stage Presentation See On-Stage Presentation guidelines and criteria in PDF here ( The jury will choose the winners based on the industry specialization, expertise and experience of the members. As the jury members are different every year, it is impossible to rely on a winning pattern. JA Europe Enterprise of the Year award: 1. Winner 2. 1 st runner up 3. 2 nd runner up Signature Awards While the main jury will concentrate on the investment opportunity, the signature juries, will award teams for outstanding performance in different areas of entrepreneurship or business operations. There are five signature awards. The European partners will give two and Finnish partners will give three awards. 1. Visa Connected Commerce Award (European signature award) 2. NN Social Innovation Award (European signature award) 3. Roschier Client in Focus Award (Local signature award) 4. Microsoft Innovation in Technology Award (Local signature award) 5. Nordea Sustainability Award (Local signature award) In addition to these, the JA Alumni Europe will reward five individuals with the Alumni Leadership Award. 12 29 June 13:30 Shopping Center Kamppi The trade fair is not a formal part of the Enterprise of the Year competition. However, it is an opportunity for the main jury to interact informally with the companies, asking questions about their project. It is also the only opportunity for the signature juries to have a dialogue with the teams, whose performance will be taken into consideration in the final evaluation. The trade fair will be at Shopping Center Kamppi, which is the busiest shopping center in Helsinki. It has a bus and metro terminals inside and many shops. Therefore they more than visitors daily. It s a great opportunity to get also feedback from regular customers. The companies will be provided with: Desk (dimensions:) 55 inch TV screen behind the desk. HDMI / VGA connection cable Company name poster No chairs Electricity and Wi-Fi connection. Teams should bring: One laptop which can be connected to the screen behind the desk Adaptors, extension cables etc. As part of setting up the stands, the teams are allowed to use materials that can be placed on the desk, not around it or stuck on it (EXCEPTION: standing roll-up that the team can put near the desk). You can find the number of the stands in the table below. Stands can be set up on Thursday 29 June at 13:00 13:30. The trade fair will be opened at 13:30 on the E-level of the shopping center. Company pitching at the trade fair During the trade fair, each company will get the chance to pitch their idea to the entire shopping center. Please choose one member of your team, who will come to the event stage at Kamppi to tell shortly (max 1 minute) about your idea and why it is unique. The pitch will be heard around the shopping center so it is a great way to promote your company during the trade fair. The short pitch is not official part of any competition. Security at the trade fair Since the trade fair is in a public place, remember to take good care of your personal belongings. Do not leave your computer or other valuable things alone at your table. In case the entire team needs to go somewhere during the trade fair, just ask our event volunteers to look after your table.

14 Meals All meals from the lunch on Wednesday to the breakfast on Friday will be included in the package. Extra meals/drinks will be at your own charge. Alcohol and drugs policy Alcohol is allowed but the abuse of alcohol will not be tolerated inside the event. Remember to have your ID with you, if you wish to have a drink. Using drugs is absolutely forbidden! In case of an offensive behavior, JA Finland and JA Europe reserve the right to send the participant back home at his own expense. Insurance Each participant should be insured by his/her JA organization (travel & medical insurance). If you bring valuable equipment (laptop, tablet, IPad etc.), be aware that you will be entirely responsible for its safety. These items are not covered by the insurance provided by JA. Weather The Finnish summer is very interesting weather-wise. It might be very sunny and +25 degrees or it can be +10 with rain and wind. So please check the weather forecast beforehand and be prepared for everything. We have at least put a raincoat in your welcoming bag that will help you get started.
