In the meantime, you will have a taste of what the Algarve has best to offer. Ride along valleys with Mediterranean vegetation, clear water streams and typical villages. Explore the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, a lagoon system that extends itself over 60km of coast with hundreds of different bird species. THE ITINERARY DAY 1 ARRIVAL Welcome to Algarve! In Tavira take some time to explore a mix between Roman, Arab and Christian architectural heritage.

ACCOMMODATION Vila Galé Tavira DAY 2 TAVIRA Loop This will be the first riding day in which you will cycle on calm roads close to the Serra Algarvia.

3 THE ITINERARY DAY 1 ARRIVAL Welcome to Algarve! In Tavira take some time to explore a mix between Roman, Arab and Christian architectural heritage. Enjoy your rest here because tomorrow new adventures await you! ACCOMMODATION Vila Galé Tavira DAY 2 TAVIRA Loop This will be the first riding day in which you will cycle on calm roads close to the Serra Algarvia. Pass small villages and ride along old roads and rural paths, crossing a vast area of orange trees. The smell is wonderful! Also discover Pego do Inferno where you can admire the most beautiful waterfall in the Algarve. Enjoy the ride back to Tavira where you will stay for another night. DAY 3 TAVIRA to VALE DAS GRALHAS After a great breakfast start today s journey in Tavira and go along the incredible Ria Formosa, one of the most beautiful natural parks of the country.

Close to the town of Olhão, head inland, ride past small villages and cross vast areas of orange trees. Take a deep breath, pick up a fruit and sit down between green and orange fields.

4 DAY 3 TAVIRA to VALE DAS GRALHAS After a great breakfast start today s journey in Tavira and go along the incredible Ria Formosa, one of the most beautiful natural parks of the country. This is a paradise for birdwatchers and part of the Natura 2000 Network. The views are just amazing, and are the highlight of the day s program. Close to the town of Olhão, head inland, ride past small villages and cross vast areas of orange trees. Take a deep breath, pick up a fruit and sit down between green and orange fields. Tonight you will stay at a lovely rural hotel in Vale das Gralhas. ACCOMMODATION Quinta dos Poetas BIKE 45 Km; + 400m DAY 4 VALE DAS GRALHAS to QUERENÇA Today you will be heading north, rolling up and down through the hills, very close to the Algarvean mountains. It will be a challening day, but well worth the effort for the tremendous breathtaking sceneries. Along the way visit the town of São Brás de Alportel, which was once the biggest cork producing centre in Portugal. A great choice of roads and trails will take you through amazing green Algarvean fields with rich Mediterranean flora and fauna where you can invigorate your mind and soul with the pure natural air. Arrive at the typical village of Querença where you will spend the night in a quiet and peaceful hotel. ACCOMMODATION Monte dos Avós BIKE 38 Km; + 800m

DAY 5 QUERENÇA to VALE FUZEIROS This is another challenging day in the rolling hills close to the Algarve Mountains, but once again worth the effort.

Start you ride in Querença and ride along ancient and narrow roads where the landscape mainly shows carob and fig trees. On the way visit the lovely hillside village of Alte, famous for its white painted houses and fresh water springs, the year round presence of water in the river adds a certain unique charm to the village. Close to the end of today s ride you can stop by the Barragem do Funcho, a lovely dam fed by the ACCOMMODATION Vale Fuzeiros Nature House river Arade. BIKE 50Km; + 750m DAY 6 VALE FUZEIROS to LAGOS Leave Vale Fuzeiros on asphalt through winding roads surrounded by nature, and pass by the stunning dam of Arade. Follow the river Arade, until you arrive at the historic Moorish town of Silves. Then ride along the Odelouca river and enjoy the rural areas and typical villages like Odiáxere that you will find along the way. You will reach the sea at an incredible beach, Meia Praia, a long beach of fine golden sand all along the bay! Finally reach the cosmopolitan city of Lagos, one of the oldest towns in the Algarve. Lagos is an historic centre of the Portuguese Age of Discoveries, frequent home of Henry the Navigator, historical shipyard and, at one time, centre of the European slave trade. 6 DAY 7 LAGOS to SAGRES This is quite a challenging day cycling since there are a few hills as the terrain changes while you approach the rugged cliff-lined coastline around Sagres and Cape St. Vincent. We will follow amazing trails along the coastline to Ponta da Piedade where we can find fantastic sceneries of cliffs, caves and rocks with an amazing mixture of colors! The route continues west and passes through some great sceneries and quaint little coastal villages. Once you arrive in Sagres, you have the option of checking into your hotel and then cycling the 6 extra kilometres to the edge of Europe, Cape St Vincent - the south-westernmost point of Continental Europe.
