1 Journey to Peru with John Perkins and Daniel Koupermann December 6 16, 2014 This December, John Perkins and Daniel Koupermann will lead a group of travelers to Peru, concentrating on Lima, the Sacred Valley, Cusco and the mystical Machu Picchu. It is an itinerary that will take you to places off the beaten path and get you up close to the local people and their ancient ceremonies and cultures. Many of you have traveled with John and/or Daniel before and know that they will capture your attention every step of the way. (John Perkins will facilitate talks, discussions, and shamanic journeys at various times. Not all of these are listed below but will happen as appropriate). Saturday, 12/6: Arrival in Lima. Everyone will be met at the airport and taken to our hotel in the Mira Flores area of Lima. Sunday, 12/7: Lima After breakfast everyone will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and meet all the other members of the group. John and Daniel will welcome everyone and create the context for the journey. Then John will lead the first ceremony supporting the group in setting their intentions and connecting with the energies and spirit of the land. Lima, the main gateway to Peru, is a major, bustling city. It is an ethnic melting pot with Pre-Hispanic, colonial and modern elements. The old city, where we will begin our tour, is beautiful with churches and mansions filled with colonial and religious art. After lunch in a local Peruvian restaurant, we will continue our tour at one of the highlights of the city, the Museo Rafael Larco Herrera. This private museum has one of the largest collections of ceramics in the world over 50,000 pieces. They include a selection of gold and silver pieces, feathered textiles and a Paracas weaving that contains 398 threads to the linear inch (a world record). Many tourists are lured here by the famous collection of Pre-Columbian erotic pots illustrating the sexual practices of the ancient Peruvians.

2 Monday, 12/8: LIMA - CUSCO After breakfast the group will fly to Cusco arriving around 10:30am. Our private bus will take us to our hotel. After lunch we will take a walking tour of the city, a magical combination of ancient Incan and Spanish colonial architecture and history. With an elevation of around 11,200 ft. (3,414 m), Cusco (a Unesco World Heritage Site) is the heart of the once mighty Incan empire. Its colonial and religious sites are built on the hefty stone foundations of the Incas. Some of the highlights of Cusco that we will visit are Korikancha (the Temple of Gold), Ceque Lines, the tunnels below the city, the Rainbow Temple and the San Francisco Cathedral. Dinner will be in a local restaurant. Tuesday, 12/9 - CUSCO After breakfast we will travel just outside the city to explore Sacsayhuaman (pronounced sacksy woman ). A huge Inca temple in the zigzag shape of a serpent, it is said to hold the key to understanding the traditions of the local people and to be connected to the energy of lightning (hence the zigzag shape). Here we will participate in a ceremony with a Qero elder to bless our adventures and sacred journey. Then we will continue on to Q enqo, an ancient ruin with open caves and symbolic carvings. Lunch will be in a local Cusquenian restaurant. After lunch we will have free time to explore more of the city on our own. In the evening dinner will be in the Plaza de Armas with local entertainment. Wednesday, 12/10: CUSCO PISAC - OLLANTAYTAMBO After breakfast we will leave Cusco and travel to the Temple of the Falcon in Pisac. Here we will hike in a beautiful area with stunning vistas, to a spot where we will stop to do a ceremony with the elders and learn from their ancient wisdom. Afterwards we will visit the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon. In this sacred place you can align the masculine and feminine energies within yourself, and receive the Pampamesayok Rites, also called the Daykeeper Rites. A Qero elder will lead a despacho (ceremony) in the lower temple. He will bless any sacred ceremonial items you may have found or brought with you. After our lunch we have the opportunity to wander around the Pisac Mercado (an amazing market for Peruvian handicrafts). Late in the afternoon we will continue to Ollantaytambo and the Hotel Pakaritampu for the night. Dinner will be at the hotel. Thursday, 12/11: OLLANTAYTAMBO AGUAS CALIENTES After breakfast we will visit an amazing ruin, the Temple of the Sun, Winds, and Waters. We can cleanse ourselves with the waters, and participate in the ancient ritual of calling to the Tawantisuyu, the Four Quadrants of the Earth.

3 During the ritual we take a shamanic journey on the back of the condor and work with two gateways or portals there. In the afternoon, we continue by train to Aquas Calientes at the base of Machu Picchu, and check into our hotel. Dinner will be in a local restaurant in Aguas Calientes. Friday, December 12 th : MACHU PICCHU We will rise early to catch the bus up to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, the Crystal City of Light. As an option you can hike to the top of Huayna Picchu beginning at 7am (reservations required), and enjoy a sunrise ceremony honoring the light and the Inti Punku in the distance (the Gate of the Sun). Huayna Picchu is a spectacular summit within the Sanctuary which many people opt to climb. The climb is steep along a narrow path, but there are railings and ropes along the way. It takes approximately 3-4 hours. At the top the view is stunning. You should be in moderately good shape to make the climb. We will spend the entire morning in the ruins enjoying the spiritual essence of Machu Picchu and the intricate handiwork of the Inca people. We will gather together for lunch, and after that have a guided tour of this sacred place. The bus will take us back down to Aquas Calientes in the late afternoon. Dinner will be in a local restaurant. Saturday, 12/13: MACHU PICCHU URUBAMBA VALLEY Taking the train back to Ollantaytambo, we will meet our private bus which will take us to a very interesting organic farm and inn, which will be our base in the Sacred Valley. The day will be spent preparing for a traditional nocturnal Andean ceremony, led by John Perkins. Sunday, 12/14: URUBAMBA VALLEY In the early morning John will lead us in a Wachuma Ceremony. Later in the day we will participate in a Despacho which is a blessing of gratitude and intention, including a mandala with leaves, flowers, grains, candies, and symbolic pieces led by a Qero Elder*. We will have an opportunity to share with each other and set intentions for our lives, our healing, and the world. The Qero Elder will share a karpay, a traditional initiation that connects you to Pachamama, Mother Earth / Universe s energies. We will partake in the Andean teachings of llankay, munay, and yachay, which are our connections to work, service, love, and wisdom. *The Qero Elders come from the high Andes and live part time in Cusco. It is an honor to be able to share these traditions and ceremonies with them. They are the direct descendants of the Inca. You will discover how they have helped the world with their blessings and ceremonies. Monday, 12/15: URUBAMBA VALLEY CUSCO LIMA

4 After breakfast our bus will take us to Cusco to fly back to Lima at 1:30pm. We will return to the same hotel where we stayed the first night in Lima. Before our final dinner there will be free time to do any last minute shopping, pack and rest. Our final dinner together will be at one of Lima s excellent restaurants. Many of the restaurants in Lima are known world-wide for their innovative cuisine. We will have the opportunity to enjoy the cuisine of one of them. Tuesday, 12/16: LIMA - HOME Everyone will be transferred to the airport for their return flights Cost of the journey: Per person: $3,300 in double occupancy Single Supplement: $1,050 per person Reservations: All reservations are subject to availability. In Peru, it is not possible to reserve rooms, train travel and entrance tickets to Machu Picchu without passport names, numbers, expiration dates, date of birth and country of issuance. To make a reservation for the journey, please send a deposit of $500 per person to the address below and scan your passport information to lleyerle@aol.com. Time is of the essence so please respond as soon as possible if you are interested in this journey. This will ensure your rooms, tickets, etc. The second payment of $1500 is due July 1st, and the balance of $1300 is due October 6 th. No refunds will be given after October 6 th. Cost includes: Private bus or van for travel throughout the journey, all meals, hotels, tips for restaurants and hotels, water during meals, transportation to and from airport in Lima, intra-country flights, Machu Picchu train and entrance fees, local guide and/or shamanic guide to share history and archaeological information, Qero elders to share their ancient teachings and traditional ceremonies of despachos and karpay initiations. Cost does NOT include: Roundtrip airfare to Lima, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, tips for the guides, shamans and private bus driver, any personal items and/or souvenirs. This journey is for individuals ready to have an educational/experiential experience. Persons with physical or psychiatric challenges may find this journey too difficult or uncomfortable. We recommend a visit with your doctor 4-6 weeks in advance of departure. No immunizations are required unless you will be entering Peru from a country with Yellow Fever. In which case you will need a Yellow fever immunization and be prepared to show proof. We will be in high altitudes in Cusco (11,200 ft./ 3,414 m). If you think you may

5 have issues with the altitude, please talk to your doctor. You can also check the CDC webpage for more information. In the event a journey is cancelled, ANDEAN PATHS shall have no responsibility beyond the refund of monies paid to it by program participants as listed. By registering, the participant agrees that neither ANDEAN PATHS, Daniel Koupermann, John Perkins nor their affiliates shall be liable for any damages, loss or expense occasioned by any act or omission by any supplier providing services to any program participant. The main reason a trip would be canceled is for reasons of safety due to impassable roads, protests in Peru, or similar unforeseen events.
