To the west, the Friulian side of the Cansiglio Forest is a magical and silent place of paths and dirt roads that are ideal for nature rambles and offer a fascinating microcosm of habitats. Piancavallo stands in the eastern hollow of Monte Cavallo, a short distance from the Cansiglio Forest; this large, natural hollow situated at an altitude of 1300 metres is bathed in sunshine and offers a thousand attractions in both summer and winter. And there are many farms that still produce traditional local products, such as malga cheese, wine, oil and local varieties of fruit and promote new and interesting products such as saffron or goat and buffalo cheeses. Centuries-old trees and small lakes provide the setting for the Castel d Aviano Golf Club located within the nature park of Villa Policreti, a 16th-century house of special historical and architectural interest, which now houses an elegant hotel. Not far from Caneva, the Palù del Livenza is a pile-dwelling site dating back to the Neolithic age and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its archaeological importance. A land of ancient wines (Marzemino especially) and a starting point for pleasant outings in the woods on the mountain above, Caneva boasts the picturesque ruins of a castle built around the year 1000, probably on Roman foundations. Polcenigo, besides being one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, also boasts the rural Europark of San Floriano, a unique example of natural and rural park in Italy; it is a nature reserve in which there are guided and educations tours exploring both the flora and fauna. At the summit of the park, there is a church that predates the year 1000 and boasts a splendid cycle of frescoes. Not far away, in an area of great natural interest and fine views, one can admire the large and appealing springs of the Livenza river, which, despite emerging only a few dozen metres above sea level, give rise to a river with considerable capacity. It is in this setting that stands the church of SS. Trinità, built between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries, and containing a majestic wooden altar of the seventeenth century with a shrine by Domenico da Tolmezzo (of 1496), a precious wooden choir, various altarpieces and numerous frescoes. The teams have at their disposal various spaces and pitches with all the necessary services required to make the camps comfortable and effective.
