Like for all sports, it is recommended that one not begin until at least age 4, but such important individual factors as weight, size, flexibility, and general athletic ability are decisive. Learning through playing Skiing is a sport, even if it looks like a fun game in the snow. The key is in teaching children technically correct movements in a playful manner. At the ski school, the right atmosphere ensures that the students curiosity and interest is maintained. The new instructional aids which our instructors use has turned the practice slope into a playground. Your child s imagination will be stimulated. But at the same time, he will be accompanied, supported, motivated, and protected by the ski instructor his ski instructor. And it s the ski instructor who carefully observes your child s development and progress in learning how to ski and who helps correct his mistakes. New instructional aids speed up learning On some of the ski school practice slopes, the extremely useful running carpet is in use much to the delight of the children. There are often very simple explanations for these problems, e.g. a heavy meal or slight hypothermia (the practice slope is outdoors, the temperature may have dropped). That s no reason to panic, but at such delicate moments, technique isn t as important as psychology and understanding. A good dose of that can do a lot towards calming the child and re-establishing harmony. Skillful skiing means freedom, pure pleasure, and fun. It means expressing your own abilities, complete control of your body, and perhaps the discovery of hidden talents. After all: No two slopes are alike, and the quality and consistency of snow can vary considerably. Further, ski equipment and materials are continuing to evolve.
