CURATED ART The artwork featured in each guestroom was hand-picked and curated by ExhibitionA.com s Bill Powers, New York gallery owner and judge of Bravo's Work of Art: The Next Great Artist. The hotel s limited edition artwork represents a strong mix of emerging talent within the contemporary scene with works from artists Wes Lang, FriendsWithYou and Cynthia Daignault. 2

3 THE LOCATION CHICAGO S GOLD COAST DISTRICT The Gold Coast Neighborhood is one of Chicago's most treasured residential areas with its quiet, tree-lined streets, stately homes and connections to the city's past. First known as the Astor Street District, in the late 1800's, it started at North Avenue and ran south along Astor to Division Street, then called Bishop's Street. Interest in the area increased when Lake Shore Drive was opened in 1875 from North Avenue to Oak Street, and a favorite Sunday afternoon pastime became a ride along the lakefront. Within 20 years of the opening of Lake Shore Drive, the Gold Coast community had been established. This emphasis on land use also brought high-rise apartment buildings to the neighborhood, made fashionable by second generation Potter Palmers. A draw for Chicago s wealthier citizens since the turn of the twentieth century, the Gold Coast is full of traditional mansions and deluxe modern day high-rises but the glitz and glam doesn t preclude vibrant scenes both day and night, with wining and dining options for practically any budget. Worldclass eateries on Rush Street bring in powerful politicians looking to destroy massive steaks or intricate Italian cuisine, while restaurants on the surrounding blocks offer more affordable fare. Daytime brings residents, zealous dog-toting fashionistas, and wide-eyed tourists to nearby Oak Street frequently called Chicago s Rodeo Drive for some swanky shopping at the dozens of high-end boutiques, spas, custom clothiers, and the 900 North Michigan Shops Mall with its six levels of designer paradise. 3

5 THE HOTEL The Lobby at Thompson Chicago The latest addition to the brand s portfolio of lifestyle properties, Thompson Chicago was conceptualized and executed by acclaimed British designer, Tara Bernerd. The overall aesthetic articulates a sense of informal luxury that has become a hallmark of the brand. Upon entry into the 247-room hotel, guests will be greeted by a warm, welcoming lobby that displays an exquisite attention to detail. Bespoke finishes, timber paneling, grandiose bookcases, a fireplace and beamed ceiling are strikingly complemented and contrasted by a sweeping, industrial staircase crafted from black iron and brass mesh. 5

6 THE ROOMS The Superior King Guest rooms offer sweeping views of Chicago s famous skyline or Lake Michigan. Specially designed joinery wraps around each bed, forming the headboard, side tables and ultimately morphing into a large L-shaped velvet sofa one of the room s most distinct features. Bespoke lacquer and leather bar cabinets in petrol blue or burgundy deliver an opulent touch that creates a comfortably spacious home-away-from-home. Guests will appreciate the abundance of electrical outlets throughout the room as well as USB bedside chargers. Designed for the well-suited traveler, the walls of the guest baths are cladded with vertical, white glossy subway tiles topped with a petrol blue ceiling and anchored with a matte grey hexagon floor tile. Designed by a female traveler, for female traveler, lighting is bright and complimentary, the carerra marble countertops are long and spacious and a wallmounted make-up mirror allows for the closest shave. But the best feature is the spacious 10 x 5 glass walk-in shower with both a rain head and hand-held spray. 6

7 THE ROOMS The Superior Double and Lakeview rooms sq. ft. corner rooms with two double beds, some with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of Lake Michigan. 7

8 THE ROOMS The Corner King and Junior Suite Corner King rooms measure 450 sq. ft. and boast downtown city views. Living spaces are encapsulated with floor-toceiling windows, a deep mahogany curved velvet sofa and camel tweed mid-century lounge chair. Guest baths are furnished with both a deep soaking tub and glass shower. Also located on each corner of every floor is our Junior Suite. These 550 sq. ft. accommodations introduce a semiprivate space created with a bespoke room divider that also serves as a desk and houses two 46 flat screen television, one for each side. These suites show off incredible north and west views of the cityscape. 8

9 THE ROOMS The Penthouse Loft Suites Six masterful suites sit atop the Thompson Chicago, known as our Penthouse Loft suites. These bi-level suites all vary in size and layout but the stunning views remain the same. Upper levels are dedicated for a king-sized bed and a long, luxurious guest bath with beautiful deep tubs and spacious glass showers. Rich velvets and cowhide rugs compliment the ash hardwood floors on the lower levels along with L-shaped sofas convert to a pull-out double bed. Powder rooms, bespoke lacquer mini-bars and custom created desks complete the living space. 9

10 THE ROOMS The Penthouse Loft Suites Three penthouse loft suites have their own private terraces that are perfect for cocktail parties or relaxing in the sun. A great alternative for small, informal meetings, these loft suites can be serviced by our banquets and catering team. 10

11 THE MEETING SPACES Chicago 7 Ballroom Over 12,000 sqft. of meeting space is available at Thompson Chicago. Our largest room, the Chicago 7 Ballroom, is located on the 3 rd floor and is divisible by three. When all three rooms are used together, the useable square footage is over 3100 sqft. 11

Developed and powered by Encore Event Technologies, Cumulus allows attendees to simultaneously access event information at their fingertips from any Internet connected smart device. The app helps meeting planners Go Green by eliminating print costs while offering digital way finding, inner-meeting messaging, video access and more.
