3 Lavenham Priory Lavenham Priory is a remarkable Grade 1 listed, medieval half-timbered house dating back to the 13th Century and is set in 3 acres of picturesque grounds in the heart of the beautiful, quaint and historic Suffolk village of Lavenham. Originally belonging to an Order of Benedictine Monks, it is one of the oldest buildings in the village and boasts fantastic grounds, a historic herb garden, orchard, a medieval well, an underground culvert, amazing fire places and all sorts of historic and interesting nooks and crannies. On the outside of the building, there are some fine examples of decorative pargetting as well as beautiful carved barge boards on the gables. It is rumoured that there is a secret underground passageway connecting Lavenham Priory to The Swan Hotel which was built during The Reformation. You can share in its history by staying at Lavenham Priory which offers luxury self-catering accommodation and additional Heritage Rooms for up to 15 guests in flexible accommodation. 5 The Accommodation The Priory Suite sleeps 2 A self contained, self-carering, heavily beamed, historic 1 bedroom cottage over 2 floors consisting of a beautifully hand carved oak four poster, curtained king-size bed and spacious en suite bathroom with a free-standing roll top bath and large walk in shower. The ground floor has a sitting/ dining area, kitchenette and private patio garden and a magnificent hand carved oak staircase leading up to the bed chamber. Perfect for a cosy, romantic get-away. The Priory Wing sleeps 4 The Priory Wing consists of 2 bedrooms, the Priory Suite (as described above), configured with an interconnecting corridor from the Priory bed chamber to the second bedroom. Bedroom 2 also boasts the grand beams and high ceilings, opulent hand carved king-size four poster bed, seating area and en suite bathroom with a roll top free-standing bath and large walk in shower. Ideal for small families or a bride-to-be needing an extra connecting bedroom to get dressed on her big day. The Dairy Wing sleeps up to 7 A 3 bedroom self contained, self-catering cottage which sleeps up to 7 people, situated in the South Wing of Lavenham Priory. The Dairy is very spacious, stylishly furnished and is full of modern creature comforts including a newly fitted kitchen. It has a wood burning stove in the living room, newly fitted kitchen and a private patio garden. Heritage Rooms These beautiful and opulent rooms date back to the 14th and 15th Centuries. Step back in time and immerse yourself in medieval architecture, high vaulted ceilings and heavy oak beams whilst enjoying modern day creature comforts and furniture and fittings which are stylish and sensitive to the character and history of this beautiful building. The Merchants Chamber The Gallery Chamber The Garden Chamber Additional single beds, toddler beds and a travel cot can be provided in the Heritage Rooms if required. 7 The Priory Suite The Priory Suite (sleeps 2) an intimate small self-catering cottage ideal for couples, comprising on the ground floor a spacious sitting room with small dining area and kitchenette sink, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle (but no cooker). There is a wall mounted fire feature, flat screen television, DVD player, and some DVDs for your entertainment as well as a bluetooth music system and a small library of books. The living room has a viewing window to Lavenham s famous underground culvert (river) that was used in the medieval times during its vibrant wool industry. A medieval stable door has been sympathetically restored which leads into a small private patio garden with access to the wonderful 3 acres of Lavenham Priory grounds. A magnificent hand carved oak spiral staircase leads up to the bed chamber and an opulent en-suite bathroom. The bed chamber features a beautiful hand crafted 4 poster king-size oak bed, sympathetically furnished, subtle lighting and flat screen television. There is an ample supply of high quality towels, lovely bed linen, fluffy bathrobes and white company toiletries. A wide range of all-day dining facilities and grocery shops are within a 2 minute walk of the property. The Priory Wing The Priory Wing (sleeps up to 4) is made up of the Priory Suite (see above) with an inter-connecting corridor from the Priory Suite bedroom to the Merchants Chamber. Welcome Hamper Priory Suite and Priory Wing guests are supplied with a complimentary welcome hamper consisting of a selection of teas, ground coffee, milk, fresh fruit juice, still and sparkling water, freshly baked bread, butter, preserves, a selection of cereals and fresh fruit. Free WiFi is available though out the property and there is private off street parking. 7

9 The Dairy Wing The Dairy Wing (sleeps up to 7) ideal for families or large groups and is perfect for weekend or longer holiday stays. This is the newest Wing of the house, having been added to the property in the 16th Century. It once used to be a working Dairy Farm. Downstairs The front door opens onto a spacious entrance hall with an oak floor and hand crafted light oak doors which are in keeping with the age of the Dairy Wing. The real feature of the house is a 17 x 17 sitting / dining room with wood burning stove. Plenty of logs and kindling are provided for you to enjoy those cosy evenings in front of the fire. You ll find a large flat screen television, DVD player, and some DVDs for your entertainment as well as a bluetooth music system and a small library of books. The patio doors from the living room lead out onto an enclosed private walled patio garden with a large table and several chairs. You can gain access to the 3 acres of beautiful Lavenham Priory grounds from the patio garden. There is also a BBQ available for your use. The Dairy has a brand new fully fitted and equipped kitchen including a 5 burner electric hob, separate fan oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is an abundance of space and high quality fittings and furnishings throughout including a downstairs bathroom. Upstairs The first floor accommodation comprises: 3 double bedrooms (one with en suite bathroom) and a separate family bathroom all offering maximum flexibility for up to 2 families or large groups. Bedroom one is a large bedroom with an en suite bathroom. It boasts a stylish king-size metal four poster bed and overlooks both the grounds and the medieval herb garden. Bedroom two is the smaller of the 3 rooms but is wonderfully bright and sunny. It has a very comfortable double bed. Bedroom three is another spacious bedroom with a super king-size bed or it can be configured as a twin or triple bed for maximum flexibility. This bedroom also has a view of the medieval herb garden. All the bedrooms benefit from built in cupboards, an ample supply of high quality towels and bed linen and the bathrooms have white company toiletries. There is also an iron and ironing board in the upstairs storage cupboard which is spacious enough to store any suitcases and luggage. Welcome Hamper Dairy Wing guests are supplied with a complimentary welcome hamper consisting of a selection of teas, ground coffee, milk, fresh fruit juice, still and sparkling water, freshly baked bread, butter, preserves, a selection of cereals, local bacon, free-range eggs and fresh fruit. 19 Lavenham Lavenham is an ideal place to visit and indulge yourself It has a fantastic yearlong calendar of events and festivals, open air theatre, monthly farmers market, award winning places to eat, great galleries and shops to browse and plenty to do and explore nearby. Perhaps the most famous of the wool towns, Lavenham once enjoyed such prominence that in the reign of Henry VIII it was ranked as one of the wealthiest towns in England. The appearance of the village has changed little over the years: half-timbered crooked houses lean impossibly over the narrow streets, while the magnificent Swan Hotel makes a striking feature on the beautiful yet bustling and vibrant High Street. The picturesque Market Place is home to the famous National Trust Lavenham Guildhall, Little Hall, as well as a host of artisan shops, award winning restaurants and our excellent Tourist Information Centre. There is ample free parking in the village.
