In addition, six products that were previously available only in configurations are now available as add-on products so they can be used to create or extend custom configurations. The DELMIA - Work Instruction Composer (5671-WKC), a Process Planning product, lets users create and manage 3D model-driven work instructions from large data sets in a configured process plan and send them to their manufacturing execution system. Because an instruction that is common to multiple processes is managed as a single instance, consistent change control is assured. The high-technology and automotive domains will benefit from new capabilities in variant planning and line balancing with the ability to assign processes to multiple product variants through a product-process variant matrix. Line balancing capabilities are now even more flexible to support multiple product variants and to accommodate plans that assign single workers to multiple tasks, stations, or machines. The two new controlled workcell configurations in DELMIA V5.19 extend product lifecycle management (PLM) into the automation domain. These configurations allow users to create libraries of SmartDevices and complete controlled workcells and then apply them when validating and optimizing controls logic. Key prerequisites DELMIA V5.19 runs on selected versions of: Microsoft Windows IBM AIX IBM Europe Software Announcement ZP IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1
2 Hewlett Packard HP-UX Sun Solaris Planned availability date October 3, 2008 Description Introduction of DELMIA - Work Instruction Composer DELMIA - Work Instruction Composer, a power solution, delivers the capability to create and manage 3D model-based work instructions from a configured process plan. Users of the DELMIA-ENOVIA Manufacturing Hub can combine the power of configuration managed process plans with the ease of use of 3DVIA composer for an unparalleled user experience. Key capabilities include: 3D Model-based work instructions based upon a configured engineering dataset Minimized effort required to incorporate design-driven or manufacturing-driven changes into pre-existing work instruction datasets An intuitive, easy-to-use interface for authoring and viewing 3D work instructions The ability to send work instructions to a manufacturing execution system (MES) for viewing on the shop floor New capabilities for the high-tech and automotive domains Manufactures in the high-tech and automotive domains will benefit from new capabilities in variant planning and line balancing delivered in V5.19. Companies with a large number of product variants now have the ability to view a process-product variant matrix. The matrix allows them to quickly identify what processes are unique to a product variant and those that are shared across multiple product variants. Users can reduce their planning effort by assigning processes to multiple product variants through the matrix. Additionally, automatic line balancing capabilities have been enhanced to support multiple product variants at the same time. Other new line balancing capabilities take into consideration plans that assign a worker to multiple tasks, stations, and machines. Extending DELMIA Automation into the PLM portfolio Controls engineers can now combine the power of DELMIA Automation's virtual commissioning and SmartDevice building with the collaborative data management capabilities of the DELMIA- ENOVIA Manufacturing Hub. This breakthrough is of particular benefit to the following domains: Industrial equipment High-tech Automotive body-in-white and stamping Consumer packaged goods The foundation for this capability is the two new Controlled Workcell configurations. DELMIA - Controlled Workcell Builder, which allows the user to create and maintain libraries of SmartDevices (devices that utilize controls logic), complete with their control logic. In addition, this solution allows the user to define a workcell, a workstation, or a complete line and to validate the controls logic. DELMIA - Controlled Workcell Validation, which allows users to retrieve SmartDevices from a library and create, validate, and optimize the controls logic.
