2 Day 1: Thursday, 26 September The Event: Celebration of the 10 th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Addresses: Mrs. Magdalena Tovornik, vice-president of the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO Mrs. Špela Spanžel, acting director-general of the Cultural Heritage Directorate, Ministry of Culture of Slovenia Miha Peče, ISN ZRC SAZU, the representative of the first Coordinator for the protection of the intangible cultural heritage in Slovenia Dr. Bojana Rogelj Škafar, director of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum Tasting of dishes enlisted in the Slovene Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage The Slovene Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage is an inventory of the national intangible cultural heritage. The Register includes elements divided into six domains: oral traditions and folk literature, performances and presentations, customs and traditions, knowledge about nature, environment and the economy, skills, and others, such as elements of the intangible cultural heritage that cannot be classified into any of the listed domains. It also includes local cuisine elements as an important part of the intangible cultural heritage as well. Presently, the Register contains 28 elements (54 bearers), 6 of which are local cuisine elements, these are: Traditional production of the Kranjska klobasa, Baking poprtniki, Baking Bela krajina pogača, Baking prosta povitica in Bela krajina povitica, Preparation of Bohinj mohant, Baking of Prlekija gibanica. 2
