Some of the royal castles are situated in the region and are open to the public. The castles and manors have all played an important part in the Swedish history and today many of them are beautiful hotels tucked into the landscape. Amongst the many historic treasures you ll find museums focusing on everything from car collections to historic paintings, military history and steam trains. 4 16 May Julita Manor is the world s largest open-air museum Julita Manor is an excellent example of a sizable Sörmland manor estate from before the turn of the 20th century. Not only the manor and park remain today but the stables and barns, brickworks, limekiln, saw, forge, mill, dairy, fire station and farm offices as well as workers dwellings, crofts and outlying farms are preserved in their original state. Even today Julita Manor is a working farm with some 200 dairy cows and it is site of Sweden s Museum of Agriculture. Sparreholm Julita Castle Manor A traditional Swedish midsummer is celebrated at Julita Manor over three days with a midsummer maypole and folk music. In July and August, the international chamber music festival, the Julita Festival, is held here. Stay on the lake! The firmly secured fleet house with everything you want lies in a bay on Lake Tisnaren! Included in the house is a fishing license and boat attached to the porch of the house, so you can go fishing whenever you want. Kitchen and toilet are on the raft. The lake is considered one of the cleanest lakes in Central Sweden. In spring and autumn you can take a small walk to the service house where there are showers. 5 16 May A manor with many treasures Dinner and overnight stay at Dufweholm manor. The Manor is a historic site that has had no less than 22 owners over the years. It has been held grand parties and celebrations and the rooms at Dufweholms Estate is today named after some of its former owner.
