2 Your Journey Welcome to a land of untamed natural beauty and wild abandon. Our five-day Northern Lights adventure includes two nights in Reykjavik and two nights in the countryside where conditions for viewing the Aurora are optimal. The best time to see the northern lights in Iceland is from September through March. They can be seen anywhere in Iceland and are most like to appear on cold, calm and clear evenings. Travelling in the comfort of our own 4X4 with a personal guide, we set off for a real winter wonderland adventure! Day 1 Welcome to Iceland Land of Fire & Ice! Welcome to Iceland, land of fire and ice! Your flight from North America will most likely arrive at the Reykjavik Airport (REK) in the early morning. Your driver will be waiting for you in the Arrivals Hall and we ll take you into Reykjavik for a hearty welcome breakfast; your room will be ready upon your arrival. We find that on this arrival day, it s best to enjoy the charming capital at your own pace we ll give you a self-guided walking tour of the city and be sure to take in a museum, do a little shopping and check out the coffee culture and hip galleries. You may even want to take a trip to the local geothermal swimming pool and its steam baths and hot pots the centre of every town s social life. Meals: B HOTEL Hotel Apotek, Reykjavik Hotel Apotek is a brand new boutique hotel in a renovated historical building and combines old time elegance with modern style, overlooking the beautiful square of Austurvöllur across from the Icelandic parliament and the cathedral. Day 2 The Golden Circle with a Snowmobile Adventure Start the day with a drive to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the location of Iceland s Parliament between the years 930 and Thingvellir is also one of the few places in the world where you can see the effects of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates pulling apart, clearly visible in Almannagja or Everyman's Gorge. We ll enjoy an adrenaline-filled private, onehour guided snowmobile ride on Langjökull glacier. After lunch, and weather-permitting, we ll hike in

3 the geothermal area of Mt. Hengill where you ll be walking past sputtering mud pots and steam vents an other-worldly sight! We overnight at a hotel in the countryside, the Grimsborgir, where conditions for viewing the Northern Lights are optimal. Day 3 Of Waterfalls and Ice Walks After breakfast, we start our adventure along the south coast of Iceland. First we stop at beautiful Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind the waterfall. Then it s on to Sólheimajökull glacier, where you ll don crampons and other glacier gear, and go for a one hour walk on the ice in the company of expert guides. We ll have lunch at a cozy café and afterwards and if weather permits, we ll hike in a beautiful secluded area overlooking the beautiful countryside. On our way back to your hotel, we will stop at Skógafoss waterfall. In the evening, we will again hopefully marvel at the Northern Lights. HOTEL Hotel Grimsborgir With sun-soaked rooms, clean lines, and minimalist palettes, guestrooms at Grimsborgir are serene, fresh and sophisticated. Enjoy the Icelandic air outside on your private porch or terrace, or soak in the hot tub under the dusky night. A truly intimate setting and unforgettable experience. Day 4 The Natural Beauty of Thorsmork Today, we head into the dramatic wilderness area called Thorsmork (Thor s forest) on the north side of Eyjafjallajökull, the volcano that erupted in the spring of Here we will take an easy hike to the run-off glacier Gigjokull, where torrents of glacial melt water radically transformed the surrounding landscape during the eruption. After a picnic lunch, hike up to one of many view points in the area, or explore one of the ravines that dissect the north face of the volcano. We ll return to Reykjavik by late afternoon for our last night at the Apotek.

4 Day 5 Blue Lagoon and Fond Farewell On this last day of your visit, our car service will pick you up at 10:00 AM and take you to the famous Blue Lagoon Spa. Enjoy a relaxing swim in the warm aqua-blue waters renowned for their healing powers. The spa features a restaurant and gift shop offering skin products and other Icelandic designs. Keflavik International Airport is only 15 minutes away from the Blue Lagoon and your driver will drop you there in time for your afternoon flight.

We ll enjoy some gentle hikes and additional activities may include glacier hiking and snowmobiling. Please be aware that hikes and/or activities may have to be changed last-minute due to climate conditions, which are highly unpredictable in Iceland. Please also note that drives can be long; this enables us to take in a huge variety of scenery and experience a multitude of landscapes.
