The project is organized and implemented with The Charity Association of Multi Children Families of Georgia For the Future of Georgia and with support of Kobuleti city. WC 11 LYVG/ADJARA 16/06 25/06 CULT/ENVI WC 12 LYVG/ADJARA 14/07 23/07 CULT/ENVI WC 13 LYVG/ADJARA 11/08 21/08 CULT/ENVI LOCATION: The WC project Clean up the Coastline is located in the beautiful region of Georgia, Adjara in Kobuleti on the shore of the Black Sea. Kobuleti is the regional center of Adjara and is situated 25 km from Batumi and 380 km from Tbilisi. ACCOMMODATION: ADDRESS: 293 str. Rustaweli, KOBULETI. The camp will take place only 120 m from the marvelous beach in comfortable 2-floor cottage with an open balcony and a loggia on the 2nd floor. First floor: 5 rooms (4, 6, 3 beds), 1 shower, 1 toilet, 2 kitchens (inside and outside). Second floor: 6 rooms (3, 4, 6 beds), 2 showers and 2 toilets. The cottage is supplied with constant gas, electricity and water. FOOD: Volunteers will prepare the meals by the given food. WORK: 4-5 hours per day: clean the beach (in the morning 8 a.m); learn how to grow the trout. LANGUAGE: English/ Russian/Georgian. LEISURE TIME: Camp leaders will organize free time together with the participants: they'll see how to cook Georgian food, how is Georgian style of life, play the different table games (domino, cards, chess, nards and lotto) and beach games; excursions in Batumi botanical garden and seaside climatic resort Ureki with "medical sea"; they can visit the tea factory and tea plantation and see the oldest historical places, go to the relaxation centre, café, discotheque; go to hiking in the nature etc. The cottages are endowed with piano, TV-sets and videos. They have Yoga early in the morning (7 a.m). WHAT TO BRING: First of all it is great to bring sleeping bags with you. THE LIMITATION OF THE PROGRAM: minimal 10 - maximal 20 persons. PARTICIPATION FEE: 230, 00 EURO per adults or 150, 00 EURO per child (7 to 15 years old). KVARELI is one of the biggest villages in KAKHETI. 4

5 PROJECT MOTIVATION: RTVELI Gathering of grapes. Georgia is considered to be one of the oldest homelands of viniculture in the world. It is proved that wine-making in Georgia has been practiced since the 3 rd millennium BC. For many centuries wine remains one of the fascinating symbols of Georgian history and culture. The vineyard and wine culture is very rich and is based on ancient traditions. Vineyards occupy about 38,000 ha of land. The most famous among them is the Tsinandali factory, which started operation back in Famous sorts of Georgian wines are Rkatsiteli, Manavi, Napareuli, Tibaani, Tsinandali, Vazisubani, Mukuzani, Saperavi, Kindzmarauli, Khvanchkara, etc.. RTVELI is a quite active holiday in Georgia, as lots of people are gathered in Kakheti region every year to participate in it. This East Georgia region still keeps ancient traditional secrets of making vine. Working in this WC you will have an opportunity to take part in most important event in Georgia and in the wine making process (in grape extraction). ACCOMMODATION: In the House of Nature Friends in Kvareli: two floor village house with kitchen on the first floor, 3 bedrooms, bathroom and toilet (inside or outside), balcony and two more bedrooms on the second floor. Sleeping bags are required. ADDRESS: HOUSE OF NATURE FRIENDS RTVELI Akhal Sopeli in Kvareli, Kakheti. FOOD: Self cooking (three times a day). The volunteer will have the opportunity to learn how to bake the Georgian bread puri also make the cooking course of Georgian cuisine with you camp leader. If you ll bring your fishing rods, we ll organize fishing days. We can arrange some picnics in the beauties of Kakheti and have mtsvadi one of the national dishes in Georgia. WORK: The volunteers will help in garden- and fieldwork about 4-6 hours (6 days a week): help the local community in vineyards and some garden renovation work (depending on the weather condition). WHAT TO BRING: Sleeping bags are required. Warm clothes, hand towel and toothbrush, garden glove, high overshoes (gum boots) and of course photo/video camera. You will need some kind of working clothes for the camp activities. You can also bring your music instruments with you, CD or DVD with your favorite national songs and music. LEISURE TIME: Participation in celebration of city days Tbilisoba Festival. The volunteers will have the opportunity to visit a lot of historical monuments, ancient churches and monasteries. They will also have chance to participate in some activities (parties, fishing and swimming in the river). LANGUAGE: English / Germany / Russian / Georgian. WORK ACTIVITIES: the main purpose of the camp for volunteers is to participate in 4-5 h harvesting of citruses, leasing the beaches and the inshore part of the sea bottom, planting of trees and gardens. WHAT TO BRING: First of all it is great to bring sleeping bags with you. LEISURE TIME: Camp leaders will organize free time together with the participants: cultural diversity (excursions in Batumi botanical garden and in the tee factory, café and discotheque). The cottages are endowed with piano, TV-sets, videos and games (domino, cards, chess, nards and lotto). LANGUAGE: English/Russian/Georgian. Tbilisi is an awe-inspiring city with ancient and fascinating history. It is a lively town with friendly people, that offers many cultural and leisure activities. WORKING PLACE AND MOTIVATION: The Open Air Museum (65 ha) is located in Tbilisi, Vake district, to the west of "Turtle Lake". The Open Air Museum was founded on April 27, 1966 by George Chitaia, a famous Georgian ethnographer and academician, whose name it now bears. The museum is one of the most unique museums: you can» visit" almost all the regions of Georgia in several hours and learn about the architecture and traditions of different regions. Museum exposes 14 historicethnographic zones: Khevsureti, Kakheti, Meskheti, Javakheti, Guria, Imereti, Racha, Lechkhumi and Osetia with architecture monuments and objects of traditional art, different kinds of tools, textile and ceramics. 6

7 WORK ACTIVITIES: (4-5 hours per day.) There are six conceptual elements that EWA Architects is planning to add to the museum. The first and most important one is the restoration of historical buildings, as the exhibits are very old and some of them are practically destroyed. Second is remodeling the entry area as well as building a new amphitheatre and arranging a comfortable parking area and cleaning the territory of Museum. WHAT HAT TO BRING WITH YOU: some kind of working clothes, photo/video camera and of course a good mood. ACCOMMODATION - I: In the House of Nature Friends on the Mtazminda mountain in minute walk to the city center. The greenhouse (250 m2) with about four thousand exotic cacti exists since 40 years, partly owned to the Botanical Garden. The comfortable apartment (3 rooms with 5 beds in 2 rooms, TV) with constant electricity, cold and warm water, heating, kitchenette, refrigerator, bath room and toilette. The volunteer will have also the opportunity to make one cooking course of Georgian cuisine with a camp leader. LEISURE TIME: Camp leaders will organize free time with the participants: excursions in historical places of Tbilisi, Mzkheta, Jvari and free access to the Museum of Art and History Museum. If will hold some concerts and interesting events in the Museum it will be free for you. LANGUAGE: English, German, Russian, Georgian. THE LIMITION OF THE PROGRAM: minimal 5 maximal 10 persons. KUTAISI is located along both banks of the Rioni River and lies at an elevation of m ( feet) above sea level. KUTAISI is centre of the agrarian and wine-growing region, which is distinguished with its beautiful nature and villages, developed viticulture and animal husbandry. The geographic location of Kutaisi conditioned its special role during all the epochs of Georgia s history. In addition, there are many ancient wine cellars with different grape species, well-developed folk industry, and many others. All this has created good conditions for developing ecotourism in the region. PROJECT MOTIVATION: Union of Teachers of the second largest city of Georgia Kutaisi with Education Development and Employment Centre "Education and Universe" (UTEU) is member of informal association of civil society organizations and experts dedicated to protecting environment, promoting sustainable development and fostering principles of environmental and social justice in Georgia Georgian Green Network which specializes in conducting seminars and trainings, and has experience in 7

8 intercultural learning of young people, agreed to support us in implementing this idea in its region Imereti (based on "Forest" (green) school). STUDY ACTIVIRIES: Seminars on Imereti region history with visit of Kutaisi State Historical Museum, David Kakabadze Fine Art Gallery, Bagrati Cathedral (10th-11th cc), Gelati complex with a monastery, academy and churches, Motsameta (8th-11th cc) monastery, Sataplia Nature Reserve ("Honey-bearing"). WORK ACTIVITIES: (4-5 hours per day.) Cleaning the historical territories from the waste. ACCOMMODATION: In host families. Every residential place is located in the historical district, in the clean environment, garden, terrace, in the city center. Rooms with heating and ventilation; hot and cold water, bathroom and kitchen. ADDRESS: Ganatleba str.9, Kutaisi. FOOD: Will be provided three times a day. The volunteer will have also the opportunity to make one cooking course of Georgian cuisine with a camp leader (making bread shotis puri, churchkhela and cheese sulguni). WHAT HAT TO BRING WITH YOU: some kind of working clothes, photo/video camera and of course a good mood. LEISURE TIME: Camp leaders will organize free time with the participants. Also musical and theatrical evenings will be held. Karaoke in Georgian, English and Russian. Hike in the mountains on foot. Meetings with historians and interesting people of the city. MTV 02 LYVG &GREMI TEMI Community Home SOCI/HANDI/MENT/CONS/RENO/AGRI/ENVI or 3 month from the first Saturday in every month during the year!! LOCATION: TEMI CHARITABLE UNION is situated in GREMI 170 km from capital of Georgia Tbilisi in Khvareli District of KAKHETI. This is one of the most beautiful parts of Georgia. The region is famous for its architectural monuments (about 5000 monuments). The most significant one is the Lagodekhi National Park the natural reserve in Georgia opened in 1912 (it occupies h of land of which h is covered with woods). UNESCO has listed Lagodekhi National Park among the monuments of worldwide importance. PROJECT MOTIVATION and SHORT HISTORY of TEMI CHARITABLE UNION : What first started as a charity in 1989 to help the socially disadvantaged (orphans; half orphans; the physically and mentally disabled; the poor; the homeless; the isolated and lonely; single mothers; IDP-s refuges; the unemployed; disenfranchised and marginalized youth; the elderly and others). There are currently living 50 persons: the youngest is one month and the oldest 75 years old. TEMI community welcomes residents of all ages, capacities, nationalities and seeks to provide a warm and supportive environment to physically and mentally handicapped children and adults as well as orphan minors. TEMI encourages learning for all its residents and tries to incorporate education in all facets of daily life. The plot of 22 hectares of land that accompanies the home is used to grow vineyard and garden, graze cattle, bake bread, work in a carpentry workshop etc., which promotes self sufficiency and independence and teamwork. There are still a lot of things to be done in the Community. (President: Mr. NIKA KVASHALI) WORK ACTIVITIES: Helping residents of the TEMI community in constructing works, working in the garden, cleaning, games, teaching, caring for fosterlings and helping them in their daily activities. Naturally enough, we encourage able-bodied volunteers to participate in the heavier physical work. We don t insist on this, but are most appreciative if you choose it. The normal working hours are six hours a 8

9 day for 6 days a week. If you are doing a heavy job for a few hours, you can combine it with lighter agricultural work, such as planting/weeding/watering; teaching, helping with household chores, organized leisure activities etc. You may also change the combination of tasks during the period of your stay. The great majority of volunteers does not find the work onerous, but accept that it is a natural way to integrate effectively with the community. TEMI constructing works to help artisans team; organic farming, vineyard (digging, mowing, weeding, sowing, planting, harvesting); taking care of the cows, chickens and the bees; wood workshop/carpentry/cabinet making professional production limited access largely dependent upon the experience of the individual volunteer; help in the kitchen (washing dishes, serving, etc); help in the laundry; help in the maintenance of the residence; working with community vulnerable members and other fosterlings: taking care of the physical condition of certain residents: (bathing, cleaning, feeding etc.); teaching overall skills, games, sport games, hiking, etc; teaching - learning workshops: music, pottery, drawing, arts, etc.; help at the community nursery school; help in staging a play / other entertainment. Day off Sunday. The Volunteer needs to be interested in social educational work. Volunteers should be flexible and willing to work with/together with children, love children. It is preferable that the volunteer will have some experience in working with children. It is preferable that the volunteer will have some practice in farming. It is preferable that the volunteer will be creative. Volunteers should be willing to become a part of our big family. ACCOMMODATION: Tent, two-floor house or not completed buildings. Toilets and showers are available. FOOD: will be provided three times a day (vegetables, fruits; meet, fish few days a week). LEISURE TIME: Volunteers will participate in meetings and excursions and will have opportunity to visit historical monuments and sightseeing. They will also have chance to participate in some sport trainings. WHAT TO BRING: Not necessary but recommended -- some kind of working clothes and sleeping bags with you! You can also bring your music instruments, toys, songs and music and of course good mood and your creativity. LANGUAGE: English/ German/ Russian/ Georgian. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The SOCIAL REHABILITATION AND ADAPTATION CENTRE AISI works 9 months during the year: from September 20 till June 15. From 26 of December until 15 January are a New Year s holidays, but the volunteers can be employed in a charity house. PROJECT MOTIVATION and SHORT HISTORY of SOCIAL REHABILITATION AND ADAPTATION CENTRE AISI : The Union Center of Rehabilitation and Adaptation AISI was established in 2002 by the efforts of parents of children with disability and professionals. One of the parents allocated a building, which was repaired with the support of Ireland Foundation of Saint Lazarus. The Center began operation for 30 beneficiaries in The beneficiaries of the Center are the children and adolescents with mild and moderate learning disability. In 2001 the joint effort of partners and 9

10 professionals has found the Union AISI Centre of Rehabilitation and Adaptation, which targeted to support the social integration of adolescents with disabilities and building an equal society in Georgia. In 2006 the joint effort of partners and professional has founded Union NADI (on the basis of AISI Centre of Social Rehabilitation and Adaptation) aiming to promote a model for adolescents with disabilities over 17 years in Georgia. The personnel of the Center is the team of professionals, conducting the practical implementation of updated approaches, international experience of rehabilitation and social adaptation on the basis of multi-disciplinary team activities(special teacher, psychologist, social worker, doctor, tapestry teacher, music teacher, art teacher, theatre director). In the Centre of AISI work 8 teachers. Children and adolescence with disabilities reach maximum level of independence in everyday life activities (including self-care, domestic activities, social relations, orevocational and vocational skill development) and acquire an awareness of civil society, supporting an increase of quality of life and community integration. Increase of independence in everyday activities of adolescence with disabilities (cooking in the kitchen).pre-vocational and vocational training for future employment. LYVG is cooperating with Center of Youth Voluntary Activities DEINETA in Kaunas with project LT R2 Panemune Nursing Home for September September 2009 (volunteer Nino Kiknavelidze psychologist from social centre AISI) and with youth organization "Social Action" in Vilnius (volunteer Lasha Rostobaia art therapeutic from social centre AISI) project 2005-LT-13 Social interaction between healthy and impaired youth in a social in Educational centre "Viltis" ("Hope") for September September WORK ACTIVITIES: 4-5 hours per day social pedagogic work with mentally or physically handicapped children and adolescence with mild and moderate learning disabilities children from 7 to 17 years (about 30 people). Participate and help teenagers with different disabilities in the following activities: tapestry and polygraph workshops, music classes, drama, drawing, Beneficiaries weekly visits to the gym of Tbilisi State University, after the activities volunteers should help to tidy up the environment; after dinner time they should organize little games. They can help to print little notebooks and learn how to weave the Georgian carpet by hands. The Volunteer needs to be interested in social educational work. Volunteers should be flexible and willing to work with/together with children, love children. It is preferable that the volunteer will have some experience in working with children. It is preferable that the volunteer will be creative. Volunteers should be willing to become a part of our big family. ACCOMMODATION: The centre can provide two bed-rooms (with 2 beds in each), kitchen, and bath-room (hot water, central heating). In the room of the staff there is a computer connected to internet. LOCATION: BEDIANI CHARITY AND EDUCATION CHILDREN s CENTRE is located in the Tsalka municipality of Kvemo Kartli, 90 km away from Georgian capital, Tbilisi (2 h by car). Tsalka is one of the interesting parts of Georgia both historically and due to its contemporary significance. Magnificent Tsalka dam, the largest artificial lake of Georgia, is located here. The village of Bediani was formerly a Greek village. The village is surrounded by the mountains of southern Georgia and is situated in the gorge of the river Khrami. Climate here is mild, nature is beautiful. The region is known by the historical monuments, especially cloisters (about 10 monasteries). ( PROJECT MOTIVATION and SHORT HISTORY: BEDIANI CHARITY AND EDUCATION CHILDREN s CENTRE was founded in 1995 by the Giorgi Mtatsmindeli Nunnery and pedagogies. Aim of the centre was social rehabilitation of orphans and street children of Georgia and their integration in the society. BEDIANI Children s Centre has 10 cottages, own farm, youth centre, and dental room. Here lives about 80 inhabitants under the supervision of a small staff, all are working as volunteers. On the territory of the BEDIANI Children s Centre there is secondary school, youth centre. Here children study different disciplines, including foreign languages, music, dancing, computers, needlework, mountain climbing etc. With children works a psychologist. BEDIANI Children s Centre is active participant of the different activities. The centre has good contacts with the schools and collages. BEDIANI Children s Centre has already hosted international volunteers for the last 10 years. Their presence in BEDIANI Children s Centre brings positive outcomes to the children. LYVG worked with BEDINAI Children s Centre since 2005 during with support of EU commission (EVS volunteers from Finland, ICYE UK, ICYE Finland, ICYE Austria) WORK: Volunteer works hours per week. At the moment there are 11 children ages from Volunteer offers his/her support through a range of personal social and learning activities. The volunteer will work with the centre staff to organize activities for the children such as day trips and performances. The volunteer will help in farming and household: feeding domestic animals, gathering greengrocery and fruits; helping children getting up and dress, helping in cooking. The volunteer will be involved in the production and harvesting of fruit and vegetables, all with seasonal variations. As with the educational element, the domestic side of things helps to reinforce the relationship between the children and the volunteer and will integrate the volunteer into the daily life of the Centre. Guidance will also be given with relation to food hygiene and safety in the kitchen. The volunteer volunteer s integration into the community will be supported by a mentor from LYVG. The Volunteer needs to be interested in social educational work. Volunteers should be flexible and willing to work with/together with children, love children. The volunteers participating in the project will live in one of those cottages (together with the children or host family). FOOD: The centre is responsible for the food. LEISURE TIME: Excursions, hiking tours, walking in the nature will be arranged. Basketball and football will be available on a special stadium. WHAT TO BRING: bed-cloth, sleeping bag (for hiking), musical instrument (you play on), instructions for games you are going to teach the kids to play and most important of all enthusiasm and positive attitude.
